Putting aside the last one cos picks in the 200s are lottery tickets imo.

Pretty incredible what happened with them. I mean maaaybe Bowman plays nickel(?) someone help me out, but the Falcons have essentially dedicated their entire draft(and a big chunk of the next one) to 2 positions, edge and Safety. And tbh the actual players themselves i find it hard to criticise on an individual/pick-by-pick basis. But from a more over-arching roster building perspective, WOW...

Granted there were limited picks and there's a LOT in place already on Offense, particularly at the skills. And its not like the Falcons have a bad OL by any means. But all that said i would've def put a higher pick into O-Line. You may actually have The Guy at QB, and while he's not a statue he's also not a fast moving target, i would've got another blocker. I thought Xavier Watts was a nice pick at 90something, but i do wonder how crushing it was for C Jared Wilson to go one pick before them. What is the plan at C?

Falcons traded up to 96 for Watts specifically. They weren't after Wilson.

Good catch Joe, thanks. Very interesting.

I'd know because it was with the Eagles. According to the interview the Eagles wanted Ty Robinson but felt they could trade down as similarly graded players should be there if they couldn't get him. Traded down 15 spots with 2 quick moves. Falcons moved up 5 for yet another future pick given away.

So sure enough, after interviewing both, Chiefs did sign DT Coziah Izzard and LB Brandon George as UDFAs.

Also, Atlanta does have the benefit of a good UDFA haul. WR Nick Nash, G Joshua Gray, CB Cobee Bryant, who is my most surprising undrafted player this year. 6’0” 180, willing tackler, plus ball skills, measured against SEC competition.

Again, Baltimore signed some good ones. OL Thomas Perry, S Keondre Jackson, LB Jay Higgins. Got some physical competition in camp.

Indy did nothing as far as I can tell. Three no-name WRs. Though one came from powerhouse Emporia State which I’ve never previously heard of. So there’s that.

Vikings got some interesting names too.
DE Tyler Batty, OT Logan Brown (does the league simply hate Kansas players this year?), TE Benjamin Yurosek. Max Brosmer, if you’re into that sort of thing

Also the signings might be a window into teams’ own perceived weaknesses.

For instance, 4 of Commanders 7 reported signings are among the DB group.

5 of Giants 8 are WRs.

Are these the dumb luck of who accepted to sign there, or teams attacking particular positions hard post-draft, hoping to find one gem? My guess is the latter

Looks like the Seahawks are signing Jared Ivey. He was by far the most surprising UDFA remaining. He must have been waiting for the team or offer he really wanted. Seattle didn't draft an edge rusher and could use one

Giants WR depth chart starts well and then falls off a cliff. I suspect they are throwing darts and hoping someone looks good in camp...

The plan at C for this year is Ryan Neuzil, who is "missing" from the roster list at the moment because he's a RFA. His backup and possible successor is Jovaughn Gwyn, drafted in 2023.

Arthur Smith was always really big on Neuzil, who took over the #2 center role on a permanent basis last season and started 8 games after Dalman got hurt. Gwyn was also drafted for Arthur Smith's staff, and I didn't get to see much of him last summer as training camp was closed due to renovations at the team facility. So I don't know 100% for sure if the new coaching staff is as big on him as the previous staff, but it looks like he's still the projected #2 and potential future starter if Neuzil moves on after this season.

The knock on Gwyn before his draft is that he was an undersized guard at South Carolina, weighing in at 297 at his Combine. But he also put up 34 bench press reps at the Combine, so he wasn't a pushover even then. He now lists at 310, so he's certainly not undersized for a center. I'm hoping to get a better read on him this summer to see how he's developing, but it's looking like I might be away from the area for most of training camp.

They also resigned former practice squad center Matthew Cindric (Vikings UDFA last year) but he's a long shot to make the roster.

Am I the only one who doesn't seem to care about some asshole kid making a prank phone call? A few of these get made every year and sure it probably shouldn't happen but like... deal with it?

Well, I mean it’s not a murder or a rape.
    But it’s still pretty cruel.

21 years old. Dummy probably used his personal cell phone.
    “How did they find out?”

I think I'm mostly annoyed because it happens to a handful of people every year but the entire universe is making a big deal about *only* this instance. I wonder why...

    Two real reasons.

One, it’s basically getting credit as the biggest slide of all time, more publicity.

Second, because we ultimately find out it’s perpetrated by a family member of upper level NFL personnel.
Both those make it a more interesting story.

But also largely because the media on several networks spent soooo much time highlighting this particular polarizing player all weekend.

I disagree. These calls are stupid and hurtful, and they shouldn't happen. Things usually get fixed because one instance was high profile enough to get attention, and then that attention filters down to the other instances / the population at large that otherwise wouldn't have known. So if they want to make a big deal out of this one, great! Hopefully it prevents more of them, which is a win. Pretty simple.

Now, whether we can say that the Sanders' were encouraging this shit by also making themselves entirely omnipresent online - streaming things, having 18 cameras in the room, etc - that's a different argument. But you're welcome to have that first argument separate of the second.

I agree with this in a general sense.

But like... suck it up? If you can't handle a prank call how you going to handle real adversity? How are you going to face tough questions from the media or your coach?

Should it happen? Absolutely not. Would I be reading my kid the riot act for being a little shit? Absolutely. I hope they make an example of him. I saw someone recommend a multi-year ban from NFL stadiums etc... they should do something along those lines to make a statement and probably fine the falcons. (A nice charity donation in the Shaderr's name?) Because of how he got the information I think they need to make him pay a price for show if nothing else.

I was just annoyed when I suddenly saw 30 of the exact same post from every national reporter and was tired of hearing Sanders name I guess. Also annoying was that they said "2 other players also received prank calls." But didn't even bother to name them in what I saw...
