Just letting @matthewwillson29 and the others after me know that I'm around after @RTTRUTH picks or trades...
Now that I've shown my adoration for Corley, 2024 3rd rd pick... consider him to be on the trade block.
The Indianapolis Colts select: Smael Mondon Jr. - Linebacker / Georgia I have read that our new DC Lou Anarumo likes to build his defense from the coverage down. I think Smael can play a part in that, as he has a good amount of reps handling coverage duties for the Bulldogs. I almost talked myself into someone else. But ultimately, the little bit on how he builds his defenses led me here. We may be considering a trade-up in the near future here though. @Torgo
You already know how much I like him since I pounced on him in the first draft. Might have taken him this time too if he was staring me in the face. Waiting to hear from @Sbrabo26 ... or anyone else who wants to trade up. (I haven't acquired any future picks yet for this mock, so the Falcons would be interested in moving down.)
I think we do have a trade coming. And you helped make it happen by taking Mondon off the table, forcing me to "stick to the plan".
General rationale for me as ATL mock GM is that even though we're short of picks (and cap space), we have so many young players returning that in truth I think I'm better off focusing my draft efforts on 2026 and beyond. I have to laugh at SI because today they posted an article saying Kyle Pitts was as good as traded ahead of the draft, as the Falcons allegedly need picks to build the team around Penix. SI doesn't get that nearly all the holes have already been filled. This is exactly how BPA is supposed to work. So... I took a chess piece LB/edge and future starting OT in the first two rounds, and now I'm adding a future 4th rounder.
