Purdy is more of those cases where his traits and ability to adapt at a higher level were misevaluated and he was picked thinking he could be serviceable in a pinch as a backup. Coaching and scheme helps but that was a scouting issue.
The HB convo is interesting to me On one hand I could see the typical nfl follow the leader approach where people see how much Barkley changed the Eagles or how important Gibbs is to the Lions and people grabbing their guy early. The other hand this to me is a deep class and people can think they'll just grab someone like the Bucs did in Bucky Irving last year later in draft. As a Washington Fan wouldn't be upset with Hampton or Henderson at 29 and would be pretty happy if you told me we traded back and recouped some picks from Tunsil and Deebo trades and still got one of them.
I had to think long and hard about this one for the Chiefs as well. But it still doesn't solve that tackle problem. And despite the fact I don't picture the particular archetype suiting their offense, the Chiefs really do seem to target mammoth sized OLs.
Hot Take: Judkins goes before Henderson... Hampton remains second back taken, but is gone in the first round.
Those physical measurables were sure impressive. I'd say I disagree. But that's why the take is hot right ?
I've thought about it, but decided to see another scenario in this one since I've already did a major trade up to get him in other mock.
I just ran a simulator, took Hampton end of 1st after trading back. Sometimes the QB's best friend is a RB. The thing about Hampton, he produced with Drake Maye and without him.
I hate those simulators lol. I've done them one year and they are so bad if I see someone bragging about their haul on twitter I ignore them lol.
You might know my hot take on this already... it wouldn't matter if Atlanta drafted Bijan, a future Hall of Fame defender, or a box of Pop Tarts. Arthur Smith threw a prospect QB into the starting role and didn't even have a full time QB coach on staff. Offense fails, good DC lost in the coaching turnover. New DC fails, and team is now back in cap hell and rebuilding yet again.
With how quick the obvious starter went to shit you better hope Penix was the foresight and talent they hoped for like when the Eagles did the same thing taking Hurts.
My big concern with Penix isn't Penix. It's McGary. It's one reason I'm happy to have Elijah Wilkinson back on the team.
I think the one on ProFootballNetwork is probably the best. PFF is so high on themselves they charge for it. So I can't even be bothered. Otherwise there's would be decent. And NFLMockDraftDatabase is garbage. It's the trade logic that's the worst. You'll get 6 picks to move 3 spots in the 4th sometimes. NFLDraftBuzz is visually very cool. But the trade logic is pretty messed up too. The guys there were actually very responsive on Twitter. I helped them fix their position logic. Every QB and Edge would be gone by pick 70, even UDFA caliber guys. Meanwhile you could get top 90 RBs in the 5th
That's because things aren't always made by qualified people in the field but people that want to exploit the market and programmers that don't know shit. You and @ShanePHallam remember that whole fantasy football fiasco we tested. They didn't even understand playoff brackets and didn't care to understand how important it i, especially with money involved.
He was such a reach pick to begin with. I think I remember reading a PFF article where the main point was, never let your OL get so bad you are forced to pick players for it with your next 1st. They used ATL as the example.
