Had a minute waiting on a client and skimmed through real quick. Feels like the hot take machine is warming up.
I want to get a few more opinions on this before moving on: Do you view Dart as a top 32 player in this draft? @xinik @nybites @LAOJoe @Willie @SportsFanatic @Torgo @Quew777 and a bunch of other people that I don’t have the time to tag right now…
You asked me a similar question about Anthony Richardson, before that draft. Do you mean "top 32 talent" or "top 32 pick"? Because at the time, I told you I wouldn't touch Richardson in the first round, but that someone will definitely draft him in the first round. I would guess the answer might be similar for some about Dart (I say without having done any scouting this year, myself).
With limited information my official stance is "no" but it seems he may end up being drafted in the first. It's just too common for guys who are not first round grades to go in the 20-32 range. (looking at you Kenny Pickett)
I have a very bad feeling about this QB draft class. Me too. Nobody screams Blue Chip. I mean I think he is easily QB 1 in this class. But I would have put him as QB 5 last year I think. I think he is a good prospect but certainly have a lot of concerns for a guy likely to go #1 overall. That said I would still rather trade up to #1 for him then take one of the other options at #3 overall... So there is that. I would go QB4, but it's semantics and point well taken. One thing I will say, 2-3 of these QB's will hit and stick. My concern is similar to a lot of other posters who think Sanders is closer to Dart than he is to Ward. Shedeur has his father's traits, but not his pure athleticism. If you listen to his interview he is on the cocky side and has that "Do you know who I am" 'tude. Perfect landing spot for him is Vegas, will fit right in with the Neon signs and sequential flashing bulbs.
I will say this about Sanders and NY -- if the kid is good New York will LOVE him. Giants haven't had any sort of swagger in a very long time. He will probably end up making more in endorsements then his rookie contract -- if he is legit. But wooooooo boy if he doesn't live up to his draft slot they will try and BURY him.
I got a real good questions and it's something to think about. Stewart dropped weight blew up the combine, made a living in the backfield but his pressures did not lead to sacks or TFL, I think a top 15 pick needs to get home more often. Part 2 is this, Why has Nic Scourton fallen from 15 to 55. I read 3 scouting reports, similar, but some like him, some don't. Combine did reveal he was shorter than his listed size. Part 3, Jack Sawyer he was a top 50 pick for most of the season, now I can get him day 3 in simulators. I think at the next level, you need to have bend to be able to dip and rip, Sawyer is a little stuff but plays with high effort.
I can already see the NY Post calling him Shabust Sanders. A really good article I just read compares Sanders to Mac Jones. Those of you who remember, I called him Mac Suck Jones, said he was going to suck and I was really adamant about it. I would have to go back a few hundred pages on the Mel Kiper Sucks thread, but I'll find it. I was not high on Pickett either, called him Jelly Bean hands because he could only hold two at a time. I did support him as a Steeler since he wore the black and gold. Now he is on his 3rd team in 4 years. beachbum312 was the most anti-Pickens guy on here, he was spot on.
Absolutely. Ive been touting him since day 1. Sanders is slipping. Ward will hang on to the top spot, but if I was a GM, Id go Dart before Sanders in a heartbeat. Id go as far as putting Dart in the top 20, based on athleticism at the QB spot and the demand for a ream that needs a talented QB who is trainable, teachable and skilled enough to correct and adapt. IMO, Sanders has been over hyped all along, but sometimes people attitudes, and brash cockiness will rub me the wrong way. Sanders really needed to show what he's got instead of demonstrating his big mouth. Big mouths dont throw TD's.
No. I have him in the 50's ahead of Milroe. I have him rated lower than some of the second tier WR and CB's who are going to fly off the board in round 2.
Side note -- Colorado pro day is today. Here is the list of Giants representatives in attendance... - Head Coach - General Manager - Assistant GM - Director Pro Personnel - Assistant Director of PP - OC - DC - QB Coach - DB Coach - WR Coach - Assistant QB Coach - Area scout - Jessie Armstead I feel PRETTY confident someone from Colorado is getting selected at #3 overall lol.
Yeah, the Browns are well represented as well... including owner Jimmy Haslem. They are taking both Shedeur and Travis to dinner. So, it really doesn't give an idicaiton of who they are there to watch... Though... update... Travis Hunter got up this morning and decided he was not working out at today's pro day. Someone HAD TO have told him they were taking him inside a certain pick if he is available, which led him to the conclusion that he doesn't need to work out for anyone. {Scratch that} I got duped by Athlon Sports (damn them to hell)... Hunter will be working out.
Oh thats interesting. We know Haslem has no problem putting his finger on the scale when it comes to QB so his presence is... something? Daboll was *not* originally scheduled to attend apparently that was a last minute decision. Daboll has been VERY clear that he likes to get as much facetime with a QB prospect as possible. So the last minute switcharoo actually makes me think "smokescreen" but who the hell knows.
Interesting to add, with Dart if you take the scouting out and go analytics, he’s improved every year on an upward trajectory. Plus the athleticism doesn’t hurt with your Lamars and Hurts’ taking over the NFL. Prototype build, roughly. I mean we can all agree not every team is all-in on the analytics. But we probably also can all agree those same analytics are affecting “some” front office decisions. I’m not saying, I’m just saying…
