Steelers Draft and Mel Kiper sucks thread!!

Lance Zierline was on NFL network last night, his mock has the Steelers moving back to 26 and the Rams moving up to get Jahade Barron. What will drive me nuts is what was the other pick, we know it was 26, did they get a third rounder? Rams have two 3rd round picks, 90, 101. Steelers pick 21 is worth 800 points, Rams Pick 26 is worth 700 points., Pick 90 is worth 140 points, pick 101 is worth 96 points,. If it is pick 101, not sure it is worth it, you want to come out on the plus side of a trade, not a dead even one. Rams also have 4 6th round picks, in parenthesis is there point value. 190(15), 195(13) 201(10.6) 202 (10.2). Steelers have a pretty big gap between 185 and 229, would be smart to fill that in with a pick, If they got the 190 pick, it is the best for more than just value. It also jumps in front of Cleveland who has picks 192,200. Notice the trade with the Rams still keeps Pittsburgh ahead of Baltimore. When making trades you always have this strategy of who picks right before me or right after me. In this scenario Zierline puts Steelers 1 pick ahead of Baltimore and still gets Derrick Harmon. When I do simulators I almost always trade to an NFC and if it is AFC I avoid CLE CIN BAL Continuing on the theme, at pick 101 this is where I think Pittsburgh could land their choice of RB, end of round 3 before the board gets wiped clean in round 4, and taking a consolation prize at 123. At 123 there are 3-4 OT's that grade out from 129-184, and I am sure they have their eye on which one is their choice to be a swing OT, which right now is a hole on the roster. What say you guys on this? I did ask Lance on X, what the exact trade was, maybe he answers.

Traded back, think I covered everything but QB. I know we got a thin room, but I still think they are signing another QB before the draft. I was not going to take WR, but Bech was just too good to pass on. I could have argued for Wyatt Millum or Darien Porter. Still think I did ok.

Could not pass up Will Johnson at 21.
Traded back from 83 to 84 Still got a stud in Alfred Collins and added 121. At 121 could not pass on Dylan Sampson. Like it or not QB is a need, McCord at 185 was an easy pick to make. At 229, I thought about Hunter Wohler, because I am very high on him over the national sites, but I took Kaiden Prather a 6-4 WR with some speed (4.4) out of Maryland. Jarred Ivey I took over 3 good swing tackles, maybe I was lucky Cornelius was still there at 156. In between 123 and 156 3 of my 4 targets got snapped up. Jalen Rivers, Jalen Travis, and Logan Brown. Again passing on Chase Lundt, he's a guard. I still could have gotten Tyler Barron as and edge rusher and taken Jalen Rivers instead of Ivey. It's a good exercise because I learn something every time I run a simulator.

Good article on Steel City Insider, breaking down the DL class and fits for Pittsburgh. They have Grant ahead of Harmon but both in the same range.
If you follow Jim Wexell on X, he posted the link. I am trying my best not to fuck Tim over with hyperlinks and screw up his bandwith? Dunno man, I am not an IT guy, but I know it messes with this site and I try to comply.

So I gave you guys two mocks today, I would appreciate some feedback, improvement is always my goal, and I can take constructive criticism from anyone expect 1 poster who shows up on draft day and acts like an ass. I have not blocked anyone in years, yet you earned that distinction.

See below, I did a simulator on Draft Buzz. Not bad IMHFO. So that is 3 simulators run, 3 sites that have rankings that are different. When I want to use a reference, not the bible but I stick to NFL dot com and read the profiles/

Any thoughts as to where I could improve, or something I missed. Positive Feedback welcomed.

I like it a lot. Especially the QB pick in the 5th. I like the first 2 picks, granted Im a fan of both.

4 simulators today, raining outside, bored. Pick 229 is a new one, KLS is also the nephew of Kam Chancellor, so there is lineage there, always a good thing. The draft buzz mock is registered under Live4sports, this site has given us so much, maybe someone will see it and sign up.

I remember when steelers=sb was a 15 year old high school kid, now he's in his 30's with kids. I did meet him at a game once, pretty down to Earth Dude. Met Pumpkin, burghball, DCSteelerfan as well over the years. Looking forward to next year and meeting more posters in person. My wife is funny, she said what if they are an axe murderer? I said, highly doubtful that 2 axe murderers happen to be in the same car at the same time.

Reading on a new site, paid for because I seek information. Some tidbits from Pro Days.

Cam Skatebo is slooooooooooww 4.65, tough guy yes, but will his bull in a China Shop work at the next Level.
KeAndre Lambert-Smith did improve some of his numbers, late rounds, you need a WR with upside, this could be your guy.
Jalen Milroe as expected ran a 4.4, playmaker, but his inconsistency and throws showed up in Tuscaloosa.
Fentrell Cypress had a really good pro day, most impressive was his 6.84 3 cone.
Mike Green had a 6.85 three cone, astonishing for a 250 lb. Edge rusher. Add in a 4.25 short shuttle, solidifies him as a round 1 prospect.

I loved the bowl game but the more I think about watching him, the more I doubt that he'll be a star in the NFL. He'll get a place, but defenses are too fast for him to be the guy.

Bingo. He isn't going to be anything special and will get over drafted.

Here is a mock, with trades, not a bad effort, but I cannot make a real good analysis unless the author explains who was left on the board. When I do a mock, I try to explain my picks and why I went in a direction.

    21, Kenneth Grant DT Michigan
    57. Jayden Higgins WR Iowa St.(trade George Pickens)
    83. Quinshon Judkins RB Ohio State
    96. Will Howard QB Ohio State (trade pick 123 and a 4th round pick in 2026)
    156. Ty Robinson DL Nebraska
    185. Caleb Ransaw DB Tulane
    229. Josh Gray OG Oregon State

I am not a Will Howard fan, but not a hater either. Judkins is a good runner, I would like to see someone more explosive. Ransaw is actually rated in the top 12 in CB';s with a 6.17 grade. Ty Robinson is a really good player with short arms, I would like to know who else was there at 156. For that matter a similar player is Riley Mills, I believe he is coming off an injury. My sleeper pick is Vernon Broughton at 185, has better arm length 35". He does need to hit the leg machine and build up his lower legs. Gray is not there 75% of the time at 229, I really like him as OL depth. But I would rather draft another Tackle than another guard.

  17. nybites M.V.P. Steelers UCONN

My response to the mock draft that I posted. I got Howard by standing my ground not giving up revenue to move up. I got two studs for the DL. A sleeper WR, a bigger bell cow back in Sanders, a massive OT, and a Safety who is more of a football player than an athlete. I think the Ceiling is higher on Nolen than Grant and a 3 down player. Knight is actually rated higher than Bassa and Chris Paul and he is really super in covering TE's and I wanted CB here, but Knight was just good to pass on. Wohler is a guy I am banging the table for, the CBs available I could have looked at, pretty sure Nohl Williams would have been a smart pick. At 239 Fentrell Cypress was still there, but I got a gut feeling on KLS.

If you are stuck between two prospects, think of it this way. Tomlin and the brass are super high on the Senior Bowl. Who shows up, who shines, very important in their process.

Saw the profile for Skatebo on nfl network….. The biggest knock was he’s not a home run hitter, but everything else he did great, especially as a pass blocker, loves to hit people and most aren’t prepared for what they receive. I see him as a short yardage goal line presence that will be a very reliable 3rd down back. Especially with the way Tomlin and Smith seem to run the offense, could help keep the offense on the field a little longer, and the defense rested. He seems more quick than fast and as long as he sets his mind and goes for it, I think he’ll do alright in the NFL, I think he’ll struggle if people can get onto him early in the backfield.

as far as a QB, I’m not too high on drafting Shough, his age and injury history worry me about ever having a productive career, even as a backup. Figure 2-3 years development, minimum, to start with, and he’ll be 29. If he was a 6th rd pick, less painful.

I think we need to look at drafting a IOL as well for the line. With the injuries last year, and our one guard being a free agent next year, going to need another interior lineman, btw, who’s the back up for Frazier?

In regard to your Higgins pick, they were talking him up as well at WR. Haven’t seen any film on him, but they were saying they thought he’d be better than TMac

Watching shedur sanders pro day, holy cow some of his balls are UGLY!!! Not seeing many tight spirals, maybe just my TV, but a bunch of the passes look wobbly… it is still early, so maybe that changes, but not impressed so far. And I thought I’d like him better than what I’m seeing so far.
