I had one draft with the Eagles where we matched pretty much everywhere. I think it was the 2012 Fletcher Cox draft.
Yeah they all count. I took Drake Nevis the year the real life team did also. Not sure if anyone remembers him. Fairly inconsequential in general. Still meant something in the moment. LoL
Now it wouldn't work here. Because none of us can get value in a trade back to save our lives. But in real world, I think the play is you trade back from a hypothetical #7. You get say #11-15 OVR/2nd/future 2 and 3 (trade ammo), then you take the BPA OL/DL/WR/CB at 11-15, high ceiling developmental OL/DL/WR/CB with that 2nd. Save the future 2/3 or 2/4 whatever it is as part of your trade ammo to go UP FOR A QB next year. Then that QB inherits a roster with talent around him so you don't have throw him to the proverbial wolves. In this ideal scenario you have maybe a Raiders situation, new HC/GM with a little owner patience working for them. And WHEN you trade up for that QB, you haven't "Sold the future". At most it costs you those extra picks + one extra 1st somewhere. You still have picks to build around the next guy. And because the guys you took are developmental somewhat you don't end up in a Pittsburgh situation where you're good enough to be picking 18-25 instead of 4-12. Lot further to trade up. Costs too much. Part of the reason I've been a Ballard supporter where many fans are not. I think the guy mostly manages resources quite well. But we've frequently been picking later because of his draft successes. You can argue this one a little. But like @xinik said earlier, the grass isn't always greener. You don't necessarily go from Jerry Reese to Howie Roseman. Sometimes you get Dave Gettleman or Ryan Grigson instead.
I feel old. Interview of Cooper Flagg's parents talking about how they were playing basketball in their community in HS before a Patriots SB... like it always happened. F the pats and sorry for making you guys that are even older feel like Lyman does when people talk about Easter and he has to recall it happening in person.
The early part of the draft did not fall great for the Saints. Will Johnson would've been Plan A. Sanders would've got a long look if he fell. Tet McMillan on a BPA basis. A trade back would've brought DE more into play(it was considered at #9). In then end it was a marriage of need + BPA. IOL isnt great and no moves happened there in FA other than a league min depth signing(Will Clapp). Campbell will prob end up playing G.
As a non bears fan I love that pick! how do you make sure your promising rookie qb develops into the star you think he can be? get the right coach and scheme - check Build up the o line to keep him healthy and give him more time- check surround him with weapons- (jeanty, odunze, more) - check give him a potentially dominant run game he can lean on so he isn’t forced to do it all on his own- with jeanty- check
49ers 99% likely to pick here but if anyone wants it I'll be back in 15 minutes to pick and will check then.
