Didn't draft a CB, didn't like reaching, grabbed BPA of a player that could help the team. Yayah Black came in for a visit, easy choice for me, same with Giddens. Stutsman is interesting, really good ball player, will excel on Special teams.

Are the Chargers going to sign all the Steelers free agents, ??? They’ve now signed Najee, Williams, and Jackson. I think Najee will have a good year there, especially the way Harbaugh likes to run his offense.

Not sure you if you knew this but Harbaugh recruited Najee to Michigan, who ended up going to Alabama instead. Now they get to work together, so the jury is out. But Najee is already trashing the Steelers facilities and saying Chargers has too of the line compatible to Alabama.

Steelers signed Daniel Ekuale from New England, DT depth. Still got Derek Harmon as my target unless someone rated higher falls. Some sites are suggesting they go QB or RB, I remain cautiously objective. Trading Pickens as PPG suggests is dumb. They got a 4th year on his contract, then if he signs a big contract they get a 3rd round comp pick.

Harmon went at 20, slid back, and up and back, ended up with players I wanted. Hampton, Alexander, Taylor are all top 50 picks on Daniel Jerimiah's board version 3.0. If you are familiar with numbers you know I moved back for Hampton, traded back and still got Charles Grant, used that extra pick to move up for Shough. I like Cam Jackson over Yayah Black and even though they signed a DT he is more of a backup and 31 years old. Don't forget Alexander does have prototypical 5 technique measurements, 6-04 with 34" arms. JJ Pegues went right after Shough, did not have the capital to grab both players that visited.

so here is the rankings on DJ's board

Daniel Jeremiah's top 50: 2025 NFL Draft prospect rankings 3.0

    14. O. Hampton
    37. M. Taylor
    49.D. Alexander

Remember I told you to follow this because it is a pattern. Look back at 2024 top 50.

    11. T. Fantanu
    37. Z. Frazier
    41. P. Wilson
    47. R. Wilson

Each year I learn more, I really do my homework. Unlike Kiper and the talking figureheads at Disney/ESPN I go with guys with NFL Front office credentials. At pick 83 I could not with a clear conscience pass on the third best TE prospect. He has the bloodlines, his dad was Jason Taylor, the DE from the Dolphins. Pruitt didn't add much and little Heyward needs to be upgraded. "Muth is solid, Washington is a moving OT, and Taylor will upgrade the youth and speed needed to make the offense go. I am taking Shough all day long, only QB in group two to actually run the 40, he wants to play and is competitive. Plus Pittsburgh brought him in for a visit, the signs are all there.

Heath Miller is joining the Draft War Room, great news. Hope he can see what I see in Mason Taylor I think he will really make whoever the heck our QB is get more targets.

Some things to mention, keep an eye on Dylan Sampson. First off he has speed and elusiveness, NFL.com grades him out to 6.36, which is 3rd best overall, even higher than Hampton. He scored 22 TDs last year in the SEC, breaking a 95 year old record. But the knock on him is his size, so he may fall to round 4. JJ Pegues is the cheaper version of Kenneth Grant out of Michigan, just a big run stuffer who eats up space.
For Me Hunter Wohler is the perfect day 3 safety, good tape, and he is from Wisconsin. What that means is he is well coached, Steelers like the program and he is used to playing in cold weather. Bru McCoy has a higher rating. 6.20 over Chimere Dike 6.00 and he has size. Dike is a blazer, but rounds off routes and doesn't have many gears. Stop, Run like a mother fucker, and Idle, basically he plays fast but doesn't have the route tree that McCoy does or the change of speeds. Charles Grant is built like a condor, dances like a bear, very nimble. You can always add bulk but you cannot teach a plodder how to do the ballet. Grant has a 6.23 grade and played for Tomlin's alma matter, William & Mary. The knock on him is level of competition but he has a very high ceiling.

New name in the hat, Vernon Broughton for those who opened up the above link. 6.04 with 35" arms. Finding guys with these measurables is really hard. Probably not Cam's replacement but similar measurements. I like Ty Robinson, but those 32" arms are a concern. Brings me back to why I am banging the table for Harmon over Grant and Nolen. Steelers need to find DL youth. I could not with a clear conscience pass on Will Johnson, just too highly rated of a player. Took Shough because well Steelers have no QB for the future. Still taking Dylan Sampson and was able to get JJ Pegues, who is an inside presence. Took a shot on the Iowa State OT, need depth there, and he was best OL available at 185, plus the dude is massive. Jaylin Lane is a burner out of VaTech, what I really like is his production as a returner, he gets North and South in a flash. Plus Lane has stated his idol and the guy he would like to be most like is........... Hines Ward.

No WR, saw better value in Sawyer (6.36) than Theo Wease (5.86) . Maybe at 229 I could have gone Bru McCoy or Chimere Dike. I really try and keep balanced. 6 picks so only fair to go 3 offensive and 3 defenders. Need Edge depth for sure and I highly doubt Sawyer falls to 177, but I play the cards I am dealt. Moved back and still got a good OT in Brown (graded out to 6.16) Steelers showing interest in Isas Waxter CB and Joseph Vaughn LB but these are late late day 3 guys or UDFAs.
