I'm just glad it's looking like the Eagles get to keep Kellen Moore for now. One more year will help Hurts.
I would love to see the Browns take either in 3rd round if available. Possibly trade up into the 2nd round even. I have a feeling Dart is going to be that surprise riser in the 2024 draft, no one saw coming.
Former Bears head coach Matt Eberflus could return to Dallas. Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports that the former Bears defensive coordinator is a “prime candidate” for the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator job under Brian Schottenheimer.
The Raiders officially have a new General Manager. The team announced on Friday night the hiring Buccaneers assistant G.M. John Spytek into the position. Spytek replaces Tom Telesco, who was fired on January 9. The new G.M. spent nine years with the Buccaneers, overlapping with Raiders minority owner Tom Brady’s time there as starting quarterback. Spytek has also worked with the Broncos, Browns, Eagles, and Lions in a career that spans 23 years. The Raiders also are expected to officially name Pete Carroll as the team’s new head coach. PFT
Lions promote Kelvin Sheppard to defensive coordinator The Lions didn’t take long or look far to find their new defensive coordinator. Detroit is promoting linebackers coach Kelvin Sheppard to the defensive coordinator job, according to NFL Network. Aaron Glenn, who has been the Lions’ defensive coordinator the last four years, left to become head coach of the Jets. The 37-year-old Sheppard was a third-round pick of the Bills in 2011 and had an eight-year NFL career, retiring after spending 2018 with the Lions. He Joined the Lions’ coaching staff when Dan Campbell became head coach in 2021. PFT
Jets hire Darren Mougey as new GM Darren Mougey is the next general manager of the New York Jets. The Jets and Mougey have agreed to terms. Mougey just completed his second season as assistant general manager of the Broncos. He has spent the last 12 seasons with the Broncos, first as a scout, then as the director of player personnel before getting the assistant GM job. The biggest offseason job for Mougey will be determining whether Aaron Rodgers remains as the team’s quarterback, and if not who will succeed him. It’s been a long time since the Jets have had a winner and Mougey has to build a team that can get the job done, starting with the most important position. The next Saints head coach will not be Joe Brady. Brady was expected to have a second interview with the team next week, but Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that he has pulled his name out of consideration for the job. Brady will remain the Bills offensive coordinator as a result of the decision. PFT
Saints are the last team looking for a coach. OC Kingsburry from Washington is the only guy on their list at the moment and he's busy trying to get the Commanders a Super Bowl. You might wanna give 'Chucky' a call yourself and get the ball rolling. Rizzi, Moore, Brady, Glenn, Kafka, Weaver, McCarthy, Vrabel, all were targets so far. You guys are drying up in New Orleans. I wonder what Mora and Bum Philips (Bum, might be a hard one to get tho, RIP) are doing?
Seahawks hire Klint Kubiak as new offensive coordinator SEATTLE -- The Seattle Seahawks on Sunday hired former New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak to the same position. The son of former NFL quarterback and head coach Gary Kubiak, Klint Kubiak, 37, has two previous OC stints on his résumé, having held that role with the Minnesota Vikings in 2021 and the Saints this past season. Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald conducted a search that lasted nearly three weeks to replace Ryan Grubb, who was fired after one season. The Seahawks had second, in-person interviews with at least two other candidates -- Detroit Lions offensive line coach Hank Fraley and Vikings assistant OC/assistant quarterbacks coach Grant Udinski. Matt Eberflus was identified as the top candidate for the Cowboys’ defensive coordinator position before the team officially hired Brian Schottenheimer as their head coach and Eberflus is now part of the organization as well. The Cowboys announced Eberflus’s hiring on Tuesday afternoon. They did not share any terms of the deal. It’s a return to Dallas for Eberflus as he was the linebackers coach and pass game coordinator on Jason Garrett’s staff from 2011-2017. He left to become the Colts’ defensive coordinator and then moved on to the head coaching position with the Bears in 2022. Eberflus went 14-32 in that role before being fired on the day after Thanksgiving last year. The Cowboys will now move onto filling out the rest of Schottenheimer’s staff, including the offensive and special teams coordinator jobs. PFT
Washington Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury has elected not to pursue a head coaching job in 2024, a team source confirmed to ESPN. Kingsbury's decision takes him out of the running for the open position with the New Orleans Saints, who are the only team left with a head coaching vacancy. ESPN
Lions hiring Broncos passing game assistant John Morton as new offensive coordinator Ben Johnson's replacement has been found. The Detroit Lions are tabbing Broncos passing game coordinator John Morton as their new offensive coordinator, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday, per sources. Morton, 55, spent the 2022 season with the Lions as the team's senior offensive assistant, so he's familiar with head coach Dan Campbell and the Detroit offense. Still, he'll have a massive task ahead in replacing Johnson and maintaining Detroit's high-octane offense. Johnson was hired as the Bears' head coach on Jan. 21, leaving behind an offense that was top five in points and yards in each of Johnson's three seasons as offensive coordinator. In 2024, Detroit boasted the No. 1 scoring offense and the No. 2 unit in total yards. Though it's a tough act to follow, Morton will find a cornucopia of talent such as offensive tackle Penei Sewell, running backs Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery, wide receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams and quarterback Jared Goff. Morton heads back to Motown with plenty of experience. He began his days in the NFL with the then-Oakland Raiders in 2002 as an offensive assistant. He later took on the same role with the New Orleans Saints under Sean Payton, spent four seasons as USC's offensive coordinator, was with the San Francisco 49ers and Saints as a wide receivers coach and then became the New York Jets' offensive coordinator in 2017. He returned to the Raiders as a senior offensive assistant after that. Following his stint with Campbell in '22, Morton has been with Payton and the Broncos the past two seasons. After a stunning Divisional Round loss to the Washington Commanders, Campbell and the Lions lost both their coordinators -- Johnson to the Bears and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn to the New York Jets. They've moved just as quickly, though, promoting Kelvin Sheppard to DC and hiring Morton to take on the offensive reins. NFL.com
According to NFL media, McCarthy has decided to focus on the 2026 hiring cycle. He won’t coach in 2025. There goes another Saints potential.
Jets will hire Steve Wilks as their defensive coordinator New Jets head coach Aaron Glenn is set to add an experienced assistant to his staff as the defensive coordinator. Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the Jets will hire Steve Wilks in that role. Glenn said at a press conference this week that he will not call defensive plays, so Wilks will be handling that responsibility. Wilks was fired as the 49ers’ coordinator after the team lost last year’s Super Bowl to the Chiefs. He had a one-year stint with the Panthers before that and served as their interim head coach to close out the year after Frank Reich was fired. Wilks also spent the 2018 season as the Cardinals’ head coach and he’s had other coordinator stints with the Browns and Panthers over nearly two decades in the NFL. Landing Wilks checks off one big box for the Jets, but Glenn still needs to hire a coordinator to run their offense. PFT
The Las Vegas Raiders are re-signing Patrick Graham to be their defensive coordinator, according to multiple reports. Graham has been with the franchise since 2022, when he was hired by then-coach Josh McDaniels and stayed on as part of Antonio Pierce's staff. Graham's contract expired at the end of this season, and he interviewed twice for the Jaguars head coaching vacancy before they hired Liam Coen. Graham also interviewed for the Jacksonville defensive coordinator job. ESPN
