How will management fuck this up?

On this point though Erin going rogue actually didn't help the situation, the Packers and Erin had a bad year in 2018.

    It was Mike Tomlin.

Changing the subject, crazy how the NFC North went down so meekly in the playoffs. Ben Johnson with the horrible wide reciever pass play call which resulted in the dagger interception. Felt like that Keenan Allen throw in GB but at an even worse time. I'm a little surprised how much love Aaron Glenn is getting. Yes I know the Lions have injuries all over their defense but they couldn't get a stop at all last night.

Jayden Daniels is awesome and there's no reason for us to feel jealousy even though I see it all over Bears reddit. Happy for the skins.

It would also be so Bears if we miss out on Johnson because we still have guys left to interview and meanwhile the Raiders snag him.

The packers underachieved that year and finished 3rd place. We loved to see it. Minus week fucking 1. Mack established his dominance, but Erin straight punked us at the end.

Im not going to say 4400 yards passing, 25 TDs, and 2 INTs is a bad year for most qbs. I’d kill for a bears qb to do that.

    Bad by Erin’s standards? 100% that’s a down year.

This week is going to tell us just how interested the bears really are in him despite the media and content creators’ collective noise.

I lowkey wouldn’t hate them missing out if they end up taking Monken.

If he’s the guy like all the prognosticators say, the introductory presser has to be Wednesday, no? They can talk to him in person as early as tomorrow. They’re talking to former titans RB/present day Tennessee state coach Eddie George tomorrow in person, that will satisfy the Rooney rule compliance.

Tomlin, as blang says. Which on the subject of Bears reddit, they were collectively shitting on Tomlin, which kind of blows my mind. I would take Tomlin in a hearbeat and twice on Sunday, he has dragged horrifically bad teams kicking and screaming to the playoffs. You want to just use numbers as a metric, a losing season when? The Bears called about him and Pitt rightly said fuck off he's not available. Because he was never available anywhere but meatballs dreams. And the fact that the Bears FO is operating off of fans dreams rather than reality says something in and of itself IMO.

They going to wait for Joe Brady? Everyone they want should be on the table now, make your move before someone else does. Period. I don't think Joe Brady is worth waiting around for, at all. Whatever idiotic decision they are going to make, PULL THE TRIGGER.

Well seems like we're getting the guy we wanted (except for Pat who wanted Monken haha)

At least this bullshit is over. We know Johnson is a great OC, doesn't mean he will be a good HC. I've never seen the Bears have a good HC in my lifetime so I'm not celebrating anything.

Not disappointed in Johnson. Wasn’t my favorite, but looking at a lot of names listed they talked to, prefer him over almost everybody.

Really need an assertive, aggressive play caller you can give full autonomy to for running defense. I’d pick Dennis Allen, but he won’t fit your present scheme.

As it’s just materializing, we won’t know the staff for a couple of days earliest. Not a lot of coaches I’d want to keep around from Eberflush’s time. Not Chris Morgan. Would be nice to see him shown the door.

Oh shit looks like it will be Dennis Allen for DC per Schefter.

Yeah same. No celebration but I'm not mad at this either. I was totally prepared for McCarthy and I'm so glad that didn't happen.

The only guy I would consider keeping is Thomas Brown if he wanted to stay on as OC. He won't and that's totally fine.

Everyone else can completely fuck off.

It would be nice to see Chris Morgan walk the plank into shark infested water.

Healthy dose of Cover 1 coming to the Bears defense soon. Time to upgrade the pass rush.

Holy shit. Please just let it happen.

Fair enough if you guys don't wanna cheer this hire, but i am. I'm not kidding brothers, i felt like i was hanging by a thread. I really think McCarthy may have been it for me. I will be so relieved if they avoid the classic Bears hire.

Now is absolutely the time for the big swing. They've got the best QB they've ever had and its all in time to try and make that work. I would've been totally on board with Monken too tbh, and actually, there are some character/potential leadership thinks i liked more about Monken than Johnson. It was a 1A/1B thing for me, im just happy it wasnt McCarthy or some awful defensive HC hire, assuming this actually goes through.

I've criticised Poles for plenty, but i won't criticise him for this hire if it goes wrong cos it was a hire i wanted too. That said, the bedrock of Johnson's offense, like so many other successful offenses, is a good O-Line. It won't work without that. Poles is gonna have to put serious resources into this now. I have to believe if Johnson is putting his faith in Poles, as any HC must with his GM, that this has been discussed in depth. I pay it has anyway.

    Fucking Go Bears.

    Not bad!

I rate Allen. And he's never getting straight back in next cycle which means you can expect at least 2years of him as DC. They could've done a lot worse than this.

This is the agency repping Johnson. It would be a hell of a u turn from here.

Can't believe they hired someone not repped by Trace Armstrong.

Double dipping from the saints. Darren Rizzi the name they're chasing for ST coach. Coached with Ben Johnson in Miami.

I was going to go into some detail here but Fuck it! Ben Johnson it is. McCarthy can go fuck a wedge of aged cheddar for all I care.

I don't know if Ben Johnson will be any good as a HC. But I do know this was the obvious choice. No smartest man in the room syndrome, no CFL reject or dude who barely called plays, no off the wall prospect. I mean Poles "no one will expect it" quote or whatever it was, is only true because I didn't expect them to do what was right in front of them and not overthink it. And Dennis Allen to boot? Taking care of the other side of the ball as his first step is a good sign.

The trick is Poles now has to address what he has refused to address his whole time here.....the trenches. We could have the ghost of Belichek, Ditka and Shula all coaching here and it would mean dick without talent in the trenches.

So I'm mostly closer to Ev, but man, until the team proves me otherwise I can't get too excited. Offseason champions again doesn't do it for me. But I like the hire, I like Allen. It's a swing for the fences move rather than a "just good enough" move. Win or lose, you take the swings.
