The Patriots are in just as dire a need for a QB. Unless it was a franchise changing offer, they stuck to the plan of drafting a guy they hope can change their franchise. Looking at the reality of the offer, it is Drake Maye against, possibly JJ McCarthy and one other player in the future, in a draft they are not entirely sure of who will be available, with a team that will have YOUR QB that could make the pick in 2025 much worse than the #6 overall. This evaluation was about Drake Maye more than anything else. They have confidence in Maye, apparently the Giants did also since they didn't go with McCarthy.
After drafting quarterback Jayden Daniels in the first round, the Commanders drafted wide receiver Luke McCaffrey in the third round, in the hopes that the two would have a connection that lasts for years. McCaffrey says they’re already getting to work at that. After practicing with Daniels at the Commanders’ rookie minicamp, McCaffrey said the two of them are already on the same page. “He’s one heck of a quarterback and he’s a lot of fun to play with from a personality standpoint, so I’ve had a blast,” McCaffrey said. “People who love football are going to get along, and he’s someone who loves football and I consider myself someone who loves football.” McCaffrey had brief stints as a starting quarterback at both Nebraska and Rice before moving to wide receiver in 2022, and he says his experience as a quarterback helps him build a rapport with Daniels. “It helps a lot. It’s a position that’s hard to understand unless you’ve played it,” McCaffrey said. “The biggest thing I’ve noticed is the communication aspect. You speak the same language, you understand, and that’s something going into rookie minicamp you try and get a head start on.” McCaffrey has a great opportunity to get significant playing time as a rookie in Washington, and the rapport he’s building with Daniels now may pay dividends in September. The Tennessee Titans have clinched the first overall pick, with the Browns earning the second pick and the Giants picking third. Here’s the draft order based on all 32 teams’ current records, with projected strength of schedule of all 17 opponents as the tiebreaker: Current 2025 NFL Draft Order 1. Titans (3-14) 2. Browns (3-14) 3. Giants (3-14) 4. Patriots (4-13) 5. Jaguars (4-13) 6. Jets (4-12) 7. Raiders (4-12) 8. Panthers (5-12) 9. Saints (5-12) 10. Bears (5-12) Patriots went anti-tank and dropped to 4th from 1st to start week 18.
Man, Browns, Jets, Giants, Jags, Bears. Some teams have such a hard time staying out of the top 10. Starts with leadership I guess.
I used to watch a lot of game film of the prospects, complete games, not highlight reels. I just went into the website and it is no longer there. Do any of you know of any websites that offer full game tape by prospect? This sucks if there isn't a site any more with that available. Watching highlights won't do anything to evaluate a player. They are all hype videos, not highlight reels. Each video is like 5 minutes long, but shows the same good plays from 5 different angles, making it look like they've had a career worth of great plays in one year. Even the best players only have a handful of good plays in any given game. The great plays are few and far between, it's the plays where you don't notice them if you aren't looking for them that you get the best information on.
Every year I end up digging deep on YouTube until I find full games. It usually comes down to looking at the team/player schedule and using a combination of keywords for different games combined with “full game 2024”.
Yeah, where I used to go the complete games were cut up specifically for each player. It shows every play of the game for that player. It always has between 2 to 7 games for at least the top 100 prospects. All positions but special teams. It really cuts the time down when evaluating positions.
My go to is usually type in like “Jedrick Wills vs” on YouTube. Eventually you will get 3-4 games for most of the top 100. I’ve been doing this for years. If you want to pay money there are sites that do cutups. I’ll find a name on Twitter for you that might lead to what you’re after, if you feel like paying for access. Edit: @DynastyNerds
