I haven’t done enough evaluation yet of the prospects to make an educated post about what I would like… I’ve seen enough of the QBs to say I hope beyond all else, they don’t waste more picks to move up in this draft to take one of them. For the record, I mentioned Cousins, but it isn’t going to happen. If the Falcons cut Cousins, I predict he ends up with the Steelers, Rams, 49ers or Cowboys.. in that order. Due to the structure of the CBA, a team will essentially be able to get Cousins on a one year deal at league minimum with the Falcons paying his 2025 salary. All of those teams will be deemed contenders, with either a) aged veteran starter or injury prone / declining starter in 2024. It’s his best chance to possibly get a ring as either a backup or take over a team due to injury that is instantly ready to contend for a title. He will NOT choose the shit show that is the Browns on a one year deal. Even he isn’t pretentious enough to think he is the savior of Cleveland.
Gotcha, well there still isn’t a mathematical possibility based on SOS and the Titans .513 over taking the Patriots .469 I believe the current SOS already takes into account all 17 opponents, so it isn’t as if their week 18 opponent will change their number based off another win. Both teams would have to lose to tie, thus both opponents will raise their SOS with one last win. Patriots have the best case scenario to win, as the Bills are playing for nothing. They have the division and 2nd seed wrapped up. I would be surprised to see any starters in there, knowing the Chiefs have the first round bye. The Pats have an actual chance of winning this one. The titans on the other hand are playing the Texans, who have not been playing their best ball. I don’t think they will rest players. I think they will want momentum going into the Wild Card round. I could be wrong on this one, but it makes a lot more sense than the Bills trotting out starters. Texans are coming in on a 2 game losing streak, something needs to give them some confidence after losing two in a row to playoff teams they may have to face over the next few weeks. The Browns on the other hand, I can’t see any scenario where they win this game. Ravens are playing for the division title and a round one home game. They lose and Pittsburgh wins, the Steelers take the tie breaker on division record. I need a miracle to move down in the draft. My only hope is both the Titans and Patriots lose and the Giants trade the farm to the Pats. I need both of these QBs gone with the first two picks, then the Browns have their choice of the actual best player in this draft. Then, they will have the second pick of the second round and first pick of the 3rd round.
Cowboys releasing Ezekiel Elliott; RB seeks opportunity with playoff-bound team Ezekiel Elliott's second stint in Dallas won't last a full season. The Cowboys and the veteran running back have mutually agreed on his release from the team, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday. Josina Anderson first reported the news. The team has since announced Elliott's release. "Out of respect and appreciation for Zeke and wanting to provide him with an opportunity to pursue any potential playoff participation possible, we are releasing him from the Cowboys roster today," owner Jerry Jones said in a statement. "As I have said many times previously, Zeke's impact as one of the greatest to ever play with the Star on their helmet will never change and is etched in our record books and history forever. We thank him, love him and wish him the absolute best." Elliott will hit waivers once released, and will hit free agency if not claimed.
I think and, in my opinion, he's washed up. Cracked me up that he wants a playoff bound team... dream on, take what you can get because at this point in your career, it wont be much.
Saquon Barkley, who enters Sunday's game 101 yards shy of breaking Dickerson's single-season rushing mark of 2,105 yards wont break it... he's being taken out for rest.
Im not sure I agree with this one.. he’s playing for possibly immortality, as an individual, that might be just as important as saving some energy for the playoffs. He’s a HOFer and this will probably be his best chance to break a record that has stood for way too many years since the 17 games schedule started. Maybe he thinks there would be an asterisk beside it anyway, since Dickerson didn’t have as many games. In fact Dickerson did it in 15 games..
And OJ got over 2000 to get the record in 14 games. No one has ever gotten there in 14 and Dickerson knows it too. He's said as much. Therte could also be a yards per carry argument if you can get a certain amount of carries. If I'm not mistaken Barkley is way up on that with it being a passing league now but I'm not sure about others before him.
Well let’s see…….multiply by 4……carry the 2……add ten…..and the grand total is……. Bailey Zappe will be the Browns 40th starting QB in 25 years. Hot damn!!!
Race to 2000 # of carries OJ Simpson330 Eric Dickerson 353 Barry Sanders 334 Terrell Davis 392 Jamal Lewis 366 Chris Johnson 358 Adrian Peterson 378 Derrick Henry 372 Saquon 345
2 games later today... Bengals need to win and get help... the only way Cincinnati can still clinch a berth is with a win on Saturday and losses by the Broncos and Dolphins on Sunday.
Travis Kelce fined for dunking ball over goal post in homage to Tony Gonzalez Travis Kelce’s touchdown catch on Christmas was the 77th of his career, moving him ahead of Tony Gonzalez on the Chiefs’ all-time list. And Kelce’s celebration was an homage to Gonzalez — and a violation of NFL rules. Kelce dunked the ball over the goal post, as Gonzalez used to do. And the NFL announced today that it has fined Kelce $14,069 for “Unsportsmanlike Conduct (use of prop).” The football and the goal post both constitute a prop under NFL celebration rules. Gonzalez has said that he’ll pay Kelce’s fine to thank him for the recognition. Throughout his career, Gonzalez made the goal post dunk his signature move, and some other players emulated him. But in 2013, Saints tight end Jimmy Graham caused a game to be delayed when he knocked the goal post off balance with a dunk, and in the following offseason the NFL made the move a penalty. PFT ________ _______________ Class act by Gonzalez to offer to pay his fine. Classes act by the NFL for fining Kelce more than some have got fined for way more egregious penalties.
