TTNL had a tweet from Patrick Finley that said, "Caleb Williiams played well after the Bears were down 20-0, so what?". Bears meatballdom at its finest.

Another week, another game I didn't watch, though with Thursday being the local team I can't NOT watch against the Seahawks. I watched the boxscore, TTNL, and read you guys. That's enough for me. Instead I watched my son's hockey game (he's serving the first of a 3 game fucking suspension, assholes), and man that was an exciting game, went down 1-0 early, ended up winning 4-2. Luckily they survived without my son for the first game, if they can make it through the next game against a very tough team, the 3rd game is an absolute cupcake so they can come out of it undefeated. Then I watched the final 3 minutes of the Bears game, total garbage time to watch that drive ending in endzone shots when it's 2nd and 4 from the 13.

 

Mind blowing.

There is zero need for some game turning Philly Special move here. This game was never going to be close, the result was never in doubt. Nothing about this play is necessary, thats not what this is about. It isnt 5D chess, its the kinda of thing bored genius does to keep themselves engaged. The level you and your unit has to be at to do this is proper insane.


I totally get the argument about the next HC needing to be a culture hire and im saying i dont care. Pay whatever it costs to pair this guy with your QB and then pray your GM(whoever that is) can find him some talent. Hell not even a ton of talent, just some.

 

This is just what good coaches do. They see things on film and take advantage of it. My bet would be Ben Johnson had the team practice that and intended to use it if the game was close at some point. Then he got bored and said fuck it, we practiced it so might as well do it.

Even all the multi toss reverse jet sweep type stuff the Lions do....watch they way they execute it. Good spacing by the players and the tosses are perfect. The blocking is in sync. Because they drill it in the off season program and then drill it again in camp. And then they spend time practicing it all year and they work at it until it's right and good coaches don't call those plays unless they know the team can execute it.

A good coach knows his team. Just like a good GM knows what his team needs.

Ryan Poles was sitting upstairs watching that game yesterday. All his thoughts should have been on how to get his team coaches like this. But instead I'm guessing he was probably wondering what Mike Vrabel is doing.

You give him too much credit for thinking into the future. He was thinking, befuddled, "how are these guys so good? I guess the defense really needed my buddy Flus back" with zero thought that even resembles forward thinking.
