I'm at a point with this organizational structure where my confidence is 100% that any replacement head coach or GM will be just as incapable as the last.

 

Just wanna echo something pat said on the game thread.

I really enjoyed my football on sunday. I watched some redzone, i dipped into different games for chunks. Lots of teams won matchups that i wanted too, the Lions got the bitchslap they deserved with the cherry being Coach Meathead making another idiotic risky decision. It was great. I actually enjoy football when the Bears dont play.

Then they do play and all i feel is disgust. At the team with their pathetic play, inc a lineman who's too fucking stupid to remember he has to report and a lack of accountability that means he's right back out there two plays later. The pathetic blocks, the pathetic drops, the pathetic tackling.

This is a broken team and a broken franchise. And it will remain that way until at least her death. Maybe long after that if those pampered fucks dont sell the team.

The culture on this team is completely dead. Every game they play now makes it less likely Poles is back and probably more like a guy like Vrabel is the hire. Will it matter? No it will not. Not while the hires are being made by people who could fuck up a 1 car funeral.

 

Not gonna lie, I enjoyed the hell out of my night yesterday because I chose not to watch this team. Checking my phone was painful enough, twice going for it on 4th down, one time it was a toss? And now talking heads and meatballs today are ripping Caleb? Fuck off, this dumpster fire is now at a point that you can't make an honest assessment about anyone. They fired Flus, were happy about it, and are now making business decisions all over the field? BWW said it, the only good thing out of this is that the talk of Brown being the HC is now fully officially dead. Imagine a world where they didn't fire Flus and took a "hard look" at him next year, fuck me.

Disgust is the correct feeling. We are on a fast track to ruin yet another fantastic prospect. You called it dude, with Everlose in Caleb's ear during hard knocks.

They can right this ship, but tuna points out why they won't. Because the same chucklefucks that made the decisions before are still running the show. Whoever they pick will be wrong. The only way they'd get it right is to go full Costanza and realize everything instinct they ever had was wrong, and they should do the opposite. We missed out on Harbaugh last year to pair up with Williams and the talent they had. THAT was the moment. And instead they pulled the same old Bears bullshit when anyone with half a brain knew they needed to eject Everlose into the fucking sun. Poles' strategy of building from the outside in, full retarded and is getting our QB killed. I don't even care if they keep Poles, fire him, you'll bring in another good ol' aw shucks doofus that sucked balls playing football, but he's such a sweet nice guy you'd bring home to momma. Anyone have faith in Kevin Warren, the dude who has emasculated Poles, can't get the stadium built and talks like he has no clue? They want nice guys and ass kissers and it will get them a team where die hards still show up to support this shit show. No, enough.

Fuck this team. Until they show me things are ACTUALLY different, I'm not believing it, because I do believe George is the one fucking things up, not his mom. She can't live forever, but she'll probably break some records just to stick it to us all. Fuck them all, and I mean that honestly.

 

At this point, I'd consider letting Virginia make the decisions moving forward. Seriously, it couldn't get any worse. She could just make Georgie stay home from work, and to be honest, what have we got to lose that we haven't lost already?
I'm so done with this team and its ownership that I was considering going to Virginia's house at 252 Cornell Ave in Des Plaines and going Christmas caroling there with some revised carols like "Sell the Team," "Make Balls of Money," Dadadadada Dada Da Bears." As you can see though by this modest house she (this family) isn't driven by acquiring new money it's holding on to what they have as she is a product of the 30's depression era mentality. Will that die when she does? Not likely as this has been conditioned into their operation for decades.
So I've decided since I have a closet full of Bears shit to wear it inside out or should I say outside in like Poles built this team? and send a message. Just imagine Soldier Field full of Bears fans wearing their Bears shit outside in, or passing people on the street, and high-fiving them. You wouldn't have to worry about buying the latest and greatest stuff, hell I could break out my old Avellini #7 and nobody would be the wiser. People are fed up with this bullshit organization and I say it's time we as fans make a statement. Enough! Sell the FUCKING TEAM!

Anybody who thinks that Virginia dying is going to change anything isn’t necessarily going to get what they wish for. It is very possible that her family will maintain control after she goes.

Getting past that I feel the biggest issue with ownership was their allegiance to Sweaty Teddy. Now he is gone and we have a team president with an impressive resume as an NFL executive and has been in and around the game of football for over 20 years. Now I am not saying he will be the savior but after firing a HC mid season for the first time and the press conference that followed I think there is little doubt that the same people are not making the decisions. Now the real question is will those decisions make a difference.

Warren’s hands aren’t entirely clean. He did ok sticking with Flus but now we will see how he holds Poles accountable. I know he said that Poles will remain in charge of football decisions but this thing is going sideways fast. Kind of like when Emery and Trestman were canned. There is the opportunity to right the ship and get everyone on the right schedule. Clean slate. President hires GM who hires coach who develops QB. You couldn’t have written this season to go any worse for Poles. It is so obvious his roster building skills are lacking. You can’t even give him credit for drafting Williams. Any of us could make that pick after lucking into another first pick in the draft.

Back to Kevin Warren. I don’t really get the flack he is getting when it comes to getting a new stadium built. It’s a complicated process made even more complicated in dealing with one of the biggest cities in the world. I can’t blame them for pushing for the City location. If it doesn’t happen you have a nice fall back in Arlington heights. Either way unlike our previous head coaches Warren has experience in getting it done.

After 2 seasons everyone owns the record but nobody is in a better place to make the choices that will right the ship than Kevin Warren. I think keeping Poles would be a big mistake just like keeping Eberflus was last year.

 

They may. But things will be harder for them.

Currently Virginia holds 80% of the votes for the board because she controls her kids shares. When she dies the voting trust she has expires and her voting shares will then be distributed out to her kids and other McCaskey family members. The issue there is the NFL has a rule that states single family lineage must control 30% of a franchise....no McCaskey will inherit that much when the old hag croaks.

The NFL has allowed the McCaskey's to bend some rules in the past but that protection might end with her death. The kids will need to put their very stupid heads together and find a way where one of them ends up with 30% or more of the team. And that is what could lead to the road of them possibly selling.

Patrick Ryan, who owns 10% of the team, has for a long time wanted to put together a package that will allow him to buy up the idiots shares and become majority owner when the Virginia kicks the bucket. The issue now is that he himself is 77 so I'm not sure he's still as gung ho about that plan as he once was.

Not sure anything changes with her dying but I'm very eager to find out so someone put a mirror in front of her mouth this morning. Or a pillow over her head.

I share the general indifference for this incompetent ‘founding franchise member.’ I’m past disdain. Cant find it in me to get angry at this team anymore.

But I have to correct something. Jim Harbaugh was never happening. Even if they flushed Flus like they should have and hired a new HC, it was never gonna be him. Let it go, and stop listening to engagement/rage farmers on Twitter looking for their reactions.

Id strongly caution you to recheck Warren’s resume again. ‘Senior VP of business operations,’ ‘executive VP of legal affairs,’ COO, and ‘general counsel’ aren’t exactly spots I’d say he’s gotten invaluable experience to work his way up for a top front office job that involves football operations. B1G commish either.

He’s a money guy who knows legalese.

Holy christ rob, I know you have the rosiest outlook of anyone, but NO, he did not do "ok" sticking with Flus. I get there's a lot of smoke and mirrors for the stadium, but they bought the land and got fucked on taxes, ok, you play hardball to move elsewhere, but then Arlington Heights caved on the taxes. You now have Friends of the Park in opposition to the lakefront, the politicians have told them to sit and spin on public funds? It's not happening.

I'm still not sold one way or the other on Warren, but given the McCaskeys hired him, odds are he is ass. I've seen nothing from him that makes me think, "yes, this guy is different, he understands". So he's only getting the benefit of the doubt from not having enough "tape" as it were.

 

I agree, but only because of ownership. Harbaugh is a guy who is abrasive, so there's no way it was going to fit in with the kumbaya prayer circle going on at Halas Hall. My point was in a different situation, with different owners, you make the effort. I mean look no further than the Vikings, they brought him in and got super close, but they kicked the tires. Our fun times owners decided, "this guy with a history of success and ties to our history? Fuck this guy, he swears". I didn't realize so many people are bringing up Harbaugh now, but it makes sense. Just like when we passed on Arians. Decisions that at the time were head scratchers and aged like milk.

I mean think back to that entire clown car process. They interview and winnow down the candidates, THEN hire Poles, then Poles immediately hires from that pool. It's a bad joke that resulted in a bad time.

 

I could have worded it better. Him allowing Poles to keep Flus is a blemish on his record is my point.

In all this shit one needs to find some hope. I am not betting the McCaskeys lose ownership control anytime soon. So I will hope Warren was a good hire who will make or guide some good hires that will change the trajectory of this franchise. I can’t say whether he will do better than previous persons but I can’t say say he is different.
