Excellent play by play announcing Varder........cherish those memories. Sounds like both of you (Varder and Everton) have active lives with your families........and it's so important for your children growing up they are learning camaraderie and skills. So many Kids today are glued to their phones and have NO Social Life........really nice to hear you guys are busy doing stuff with your Family. Varder I think you have a hidden talent for been a Guest Host at a Seattle Kraken Game.....lol
Wow i can't imagine doing 2 on my own, was there much overlap with your kids or were you able to get thru most of the sports years with 1 first and then the 2nd after? You coached soccer? Thats cool. Given your writings here over the years im surprised you never considered coaching football Yes the summer before this one a wise friend of mine in the US told me to never wish it away and i kept that in mind ever since. Even tho day to day and week to week it can feel like a grind at times heh. Well it sounds like your life is just as busy brother! That kinda makes me feel better heh. Love the rundown of the hockey game ha. And totally agree about the lessons these kids are learning. Rugby is a tough sport but its teaching them a hell of a lot, and not just about the physical side of things. The team camaraderie is great and the respect levels that are shown both to the opponent and the officials puts soccer to absolute shame. There's a saying over here that soccer is a gentleman's game played by thugs and rugby is a thug's game played by gentleman. Very true. We're actually going to the national stadium today for the rugby. Scotland are playing the world champions South Africa. Big match. Unfortunately it finishes right when the Bears game starts so allowing an hour or so to get home i won't be joining you boys in the game thread much except in catchup mode.
My kids were 18 months apart so they both played each sport at the same time but on different teams. It was a bit of a scramble getting it all organized and scheduled but it all worked out. Sometimes I would have to trade kids with another family, so we could still be there when there was a scheduling conflict. During the winter we were at the arena every day from after school until about 8, sometimes later if my son had a game or my daughter had a competition. Then it was home for homework and then bed. They were both very focused and competitive so there were sacrifices they had to make. My daughter figure skated competitively until she was 25 and coached for a few years. My son, the youngest of the 2, did not play rep hockey because he had a foot that dragged but he really loved playing house league. They both played rep soccer so we had to drive zillions of kms every weekend for away games. Damn Ontario is so huge in size. You guys are at an awesome age with your kids playing in competitive sports. This is the substance of theirs and your lives; showing up for them, being there both in their defeats and wins and always being there to guide them. Sports teaches our kids almost every life lesson they will need to grow up as responsible, self-disciplined and respectful members of society. I am still laughing at the football jab Everton
Yeah I was up at 6am for for this game this morning so like I say I passed out and missed most of the Bears. Kid normally plays center but they had 2 defensemen out so he volunteered to rotate back, and honestly he might be better at D. 8-1 yesterday and 7-1 today, yesterday he had a goal and an assist (as a dman, heh), today he had a breakaway and a shot his buddy cleaned up. Fun times. That's cool that they have hockey in Mexico, I know it's a big deal in Canada. Living on the border when the Vancouver teams come down to play it's a whole different game.
Supposedly....Eberfuckhead's presser was scheduled for 10:45 today and has been pushed to noon. I don't expect anything to come of that.
Kapman just flipped on during Eberasshole's morning radio spot on the Score because Coach Numbnuts phone kept dropping the call. Literally said "Coach your cell connection is as bad as your offense"
This shit has littered every single game tape since game 1. I mean, it has been THE biggest takeaway from watching any game, is how bad and disorganized the offensive line is. Blown assignments on nearly every play. Now, this could be a few things: Is it just #79 that's the problem? Maybe. He's been pretty fucking bad. Alright, great, get him out and put someone else in. Oh, you can't because Ryan Poles built this team so embarrassingly shittily? Oh, okay. Is it the whole OL that's the problem? Maybe. It's someone on every fucking play. Then your coaching staff needs to take a walk, because there's NO REASON this should be happening in the second half of the season. Position coach? Should've fixed it. OC? Should've fixed it. HC? Should've demanded it be fixed and take a more active role when it wasn't. But here we are. Is it the complete disarray in the building and the lack of accountability for both coaches and players that's leading to this happening every fucking week? I mean, yeah, maybe. Poles is in charge of this shitshow. He's gotta go. I'm just sick of this shit, dude. We see it every year. And every year, the same story plays out. It feels like we've been living the exact same football year for the last... decade? More? Jeezus. At the very least, both Fields and so far Caleb have seen the exact same story play out, and I would argue very nearly Mitch before that. 3 highly drafted QB's in a row that have all been handled almost the exact same way, in an organization that has run itself in the exact same way. Crazy that they're not getting results...
It is interesting that as putrid as the offense has been the last 3 games, we haven't been turning the ball over at all. Caleb has protected the football well, although the rest of his play has been bad. But you would think that with offense this bad turnovers would be a massive problem. That they aren't is proof that Waldo and the execution is even worse than most of us realize.
This team is cursed. This is insanity. Week after week doing the same fucking thing and getting the same fucking result. It doesn't matter what coach they hire or what QB they draft. Without competent football people to run this organization, we're fucked.
At this point, there's nothing that can be said by Eberflush or Poles. You've lost the team. You knew the OL sucked, and you did nothing to change things up. NE was guessing right on 3rd down playcalls because they were predictable and easily seen coming. Three WRs considered synonymous with getting open are covered, and your rookie QB holds the ball long on some plays while getting obliterated on others. Absolutely nobody semi-intelligent saw this coming. Completely clean house. Kevin Warren = Sweaty Teddy 2.0 IE a finance guy, so he's going nowhere. Matt and Ryan suck, they can fuck off, just like the last Matt and Ryan. If someone wants to make Ian Cunningham their GM and give the bears 2 draft picks, sweet. If not, perfectly fine--but his overrated ass can go too. Waldron has found a way to get on the level of John Shoop, Terry Shea, and the rest. They all failed their QB, and a month ago was the time to change something. Fucking do something to get Caleb's trajectory going up, because the one fucking thing you weren't supposed to do was fuck this up by not protecting Caleb when they drafted him. They've all simply failed him. There's no excuse for that. There's no present remedy. They've had years to not be at this point, the point of a highly talented kid with the #1 pick in the draft--to not fail him like your predecessors failed Mitch and you with Justin, and they're here anyways. You have some foundation to work with on the DL in Sweat, Billings, and Dexter. The defense can honestly stay in a 4-2-5 cover who or go 3/4 or go multiple looks. The secondary I think is good enough to go from a zone heavy scheme to 3-4 man. I'm not attached to either player, as Edmunds/Edwards, while solid, have frustrating plays where they look like they halfass it or look completely lost, but either could make a great ILB in a 3-4 or keep one/neither and save some $$$. OL can have 5 brand new faces for all I care as starters next year. Hell, if they signed 5 guys off the streets and made them starters next Sunday, I'm inclined to believe its an improvement. Single biggest disgrace I've seen even without the injuries, and now 3 years ignored, it should be one of the many reasons Poles gets fired. Nate Davis should have been cut yesterday and his dead money eaten in the name of principle. Not on the injury list all week, he practices everyday, walkthroughs Saturday, then Sunday morning when the entire OL is in shambles and injured he puts himself on the injury list with a back injury. Why is nobody asking about this? Another genius signing by our blunderkid GM. Bye Keenan, it was really cool seeing you in a bears uniform. DJ is starting to quickly go the way of Brandon Marshall. Got paid and now he's quit when he's not being such a fucking cunt. I'm leaning towards being far more comfortable hitting a hard reset with Rome and Cole Kmet as your future premier pass catchers for Caleb. I don't need to see a TE closer to medicare age than his prime keep getting reps anymore, so Mercedes Lewis can get the fuck out of here. I don't need to see Gerald fucking Everett anymore either, because I have no idea what he even fucking does, other than suck at life, and blocking. The next offensive coach has a prerequisite that he has to be able to use a halfway-decent TE, because obviously Waldron has to be reminded he has the 5th highest paid TE in the fucking league at his disposal.
The outcome of this upcoming game has never been in doubt. But it would be nice if Soldier Field was filled with 70+% Packers fans whooping it up for Georgie and his mommy to witness. Not that anything would change ever, but I want them to have to sit through that.
I just hope their wallets are hurting. Merchandise sales, corporate sponsorships, etc. - I just hope all of it is tanking for them. That's the only way they'll fucking care. We know they get upset when the team is really shitty, but then they don't change anything, so it doesn't fucking matter. So maybe if they're losing money hand over fist, that'll be the catalyst. I don't know, man. Anything other than waiting another ten years for modern medicine to reach the limit of what it can do for Virginia.
Watching that, I'm really trying to figure out what is going on scheme wise. It looks like they are pulling for a running play, but it's an empty backfield. I'm guessing they were "cutting the field in half" but then the primary read appears to be DJ Moore at the sideline, who is blanketed, and then Rome is heading up field which has zero chance of completing. So I'm guessing it's a "quick" out to Moore design, but then why even run that direction? And if this was a running scheme (like a QB designed run or something) shouldn't someone cover the cutback? They honestly look like they are half ass going to the second level. I'm curious whos on the other side of the field in this designed play and what they're doing. Hopefully JT does the free edition again. Just to be clear, they KEPT the dumbass O line coach when Waldron came in. THAT guy is the one to keep on staff. Chris Morgan. It reminds me of Martz and Olsen. You have an asset and just refuse to adapt your scheme. What's so bizarre here is he uses TEs, but for some reason Everett is the target instead of Kmet? It's just a fundamental misunderstanding of the strengths and weaknesses of your players. Their wallets are fine. Stadium is sold out, Williams jersey's sold through the roof. They can coast to the end of year when they fire Flus and Waldron and promise to do better next time. Time and time again, ownership is the most important thing, and ours sucks. Yeah, it's not Dan Snyder cheerleaders bad, it's just FOOTBALL bad.
