I don't think any fan interaction is going to get the owner removed... As for Watson's contract, I don't think they could even eat it as a post-June 1. 2025 cap would be $122,852,500 and 2026 would be $49,917,500. If the salary cap for 2026 is the same as this year (which it won't be, I get it), they are currently scheduled to be over the cap by $4.6M and there are only 45 players under contract. If you escalate the post-June 1 cap hit, that adds about $49.9M to the cap and takes the roster down to 44 players. We don't have enough restructuring and/or cutting to make room for 51 league minimum players to get us under the cap at that point. 2026 is the earliest they would be able to move on from Watson, unless the conduct policy is breached and the rumors that they removed the clause from his contract aren't true. We are stuck with this guy, I really wish everyone would stop talking about moving on from him until next year rolls around...unless I'm missing something...
My understanding is that the clause was waived for the ongoing / known stuff. New cases may be a different story... if he's suspended again on new stuff or stuff not disclosed at that time, the team might be off the hook for the guarantees going forward.
Fire Stefanski as soon as possible. Ive heard way too much BS from him over the past few days. Fire the whole damn coaching staff while they're at it.
The browns made their first mistake trading for Watson. The second mistake was the contract. The third is staying with him. I bet they can't move on pay him and sit him they are going no where with him starting.
Competition Committee likely will discuss uptick in field goals after season In the ‘70s, a 50-yard field goal was a big deal. Now, it’s basically a chip shot. And it’s possible that the league will do something to address it. In response to a question regarding whether the uprights might be narrowed (or some other change made) given the increase in field-goal kicking length and accuracy, NFL executive V.P. of communications Jeff Miller said on a Thursday media conference call that the issue could be considered in the offseason. “The Competition Committee will look at that and any other rules in the offseason,” Miller said, after pointing out that this season has featured 339 field goals made — with 77 beyond 50 yards. “It’s something that has gotten noticed, but there’s nothing pending from a rules change perspective.” Miller explained that, during Tuesday’s ownership meeting in Atlanta, executive V.P. of football operations Troy Vincent said that, even though nothing is pending, the Competition Committee will take a look at the situation in the offseason. IN PART AND STOLEN FROM PFT _____________ This is total bullshit in my random opinion. Leave the damn game alone, enuff is enuff. Just because FG's are flying through the uprights this season doesnt warrant a change to the freeking goalpost's. For years teams try to find a viable kicker that can hit the FG's consistently and it wins games. Look at the Packers... they have this nobody out there missing on a consistent basis, but yet its just part of the game. Other teams have looked and looked and spent big bucks on kickers to do their job well and have succeeded, some have failed. Every time I turn around the NFL wants to change or consider change based on petty shit. I still cant get over the hip-drop tackles stuff and the Refs haven't a clue as to what to do there. Refs were calling everything, now nothing... I cant blame them, they probably grew up when football was football. Look at the NCAA football, they still have traditional kickoffs and thats the way the game has been played for a hundred years, then look at the total non-sense the big dog NFL teams do on a kickoff and its embarrassing. The competition committee needs to straighten up the rules already implemented and use tech's already in place and get the simple calls right before they find something else to tweak, because that will just add to the whole dang stupid fiasco already in place and they have proven to me they cant get right the changes they already passed.
Probably another rule to hurt the Steelers, seeing how Bozwell is the most accurate kicker from 50+ yards in NFL history.
