The fact that teams bend over backwards putting up with crap from WRs in general is really starting to make the game messed up.
Terrible news for the Colts... Report: Michael Pittman Jr. is expected to miss multiple weeks with a back injury The Colts are set to be without their top wideout for the indefinite future. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the back injury that kept Michael Pittman Jr. out of practice on Wednesday is expected to keep him out of multiple games. Schefter adds that injured reserve is believed to be an option for Pittman. If Pittman does go on the list, he will miss at least four games. For the time being, it appears he’ll definitely be out for this Sunday’s game against the Titans. Pittman has 22 catches for 238 yards and a touchdown so far this season. Josh Downs also missed practice on Wednesday, which leaves Alec Pierce, Adonai Mitchell, Ashton Dulin, and Anthony Gould as the healthy wideouts on the active roster right now. PFT
Good news for the Eagles... A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith fully participated in practice Wednesday It looks like the bye week did the Eagles a world of good on the injury front. Wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith were both full participants in practice on Wednesday. Brown missed three games with a hamstring injury and Smith was sidelined in Week Four with a concussion, but their return to a full workload bodes well for their chances of playing against the Browns. Right tackle Lane Johnson also missed Week Four with a concussion, but said on Wednesday that he will play this week. He joined the two wideouts as a full participant in practice. Linebacker Nakobe Dean (ankle) was the team’s only limited participant. Safety Reed Blankenship (illness), safety Sydney Brown (knee), wide receiver Ainias Smith (ankle), and wide receiver Johnny Wilson (concussion) were full participants. PFT
Something about this it just fishy I just wonder did Aaron Rodgers have a part in getting Robert Saleh getting fired?
I know it isn't a reliable source, but Rodgers was on Pat Mcafee's podcast and adamantly denied knowing anything about the firing until he arrived at the facility for work. I'm certain he wouldn't say any different, even if he did...
I'm predicting Vrabel will be the NY Jets new coach...........I wonder how Aaron will get along with him but who cares about Rodgers
All kinds of rumors have popped up over this firing. One I heard was... on a sports show, the host thought he was fired for wearing a Lebanese flag on his shirt. Some say it was Saleh's intent to fire the coordinator. All are just rumors, only Woody knows for right now. Personally, if you look at Saleh's record right now, the Jets had high hopes (especially Woody) that with a healthy Rodgers, they'd be much better, but even now with Rodgers healthy and a decent football team, they blow goats in a big way, so maybe its a legit firing base on where they stand right now, but it sure was a surprise to the rest of the organization.
This is the play the refs couldn't see, so they went to the replay officials and still couldn't see (until they say it was too late to overturn their mistake). I have determined the old adage of the refs being blind is.......... TRUE!
Malik Nabers ruled out for Week 6 vs. Bengals The Giants will once again be without their best offensive player for their Week 6 matchup against the Bengals. Head coach Brian Daboll said in his Friday press conference that Malik Nabers will be out for Sunday. This will be the second missed game for Nabers after he suffered a concussion during the Week 4 Thursday night loss to the Cowboys. He has not practiced all week. “We’re making progress,” Daboll said, via SNY. “But, again, that’s never anything you want to rush.” Nabers has 35 receptions for 386 yards with three touchdowns so far this season after New York selected him at No. 6 overall in the spring. The rest of the Giants’ injury report — including the status of running back Devin Singletary (groin) — will be released later on Friday. PFT
San Francisco 49ers running back Jordan Mason, the NFL's leading rusher, is believed to have suffered a sprained AC joint that is not considered serious during Thursday night's win at Seattle, but he will undergo further testing Friday, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Mason injured his left shoulder in the first half of the 36-24 win over the Seahawks, returned for one carry to open the third quarter and was only available in an emergency situation the rest of the game. He finished with 73 yards on nine carries and caught another pass for 9 yards. On the season, Mason has 609 rushing yards on 114 carries. The 49ers are already without key players such as running back Christian McCaffrey (Achilles tendinitis), linebacker Dre Greenlaw (torn Achilles), defensive tackle Javon Hargrave (torn triceps) and safety Talanoa Hufanga (torn wrist ligaments). ESPN
Christian McCaffrey injury update: Here's when star running back is targeting his 49ers return, per report The San Francisco 49ers lost another running back on Thursday night, with fill-in starter Jordan Mason exiting Week 6's victory over the Seattle Seahawks with a shoulder injury. They'll have to make do, however, because it'll likely be at least another month until Christian McCaffrey is back, according to NFL Media. The reigning Offensive Player of the Year, who's battling Achilles tendinitis in both legs, was technically eligible to return for Thursday's matchup after already missing four games while on injured reserve. Behind the scenes, "the target, in the eyes of McCaffrey and the 49ers," per Ian Rapoport, has been getting "him back to practice at some point in that window" between Week 7 and Week 8, ahead of a Week 9 bye. The 49ers (3-3) play host to the Kansas City Chiefs on Oct. 20, then play host to the Dallas Cowboys a week later. Ideally, Rapoport added, McCaffrey will have had several weeks to practice by the time San Francisco rests up on its bye, enabling him to return to game action in Week 10 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Nov. 10. That, however, is only an estimation, with ESPN recently indicating that neither McCaffrey nor the 49ers truly know when the star running back will be healthy enough to take the field. CBS _____________ The 49ers must be pleased and breathing some sort of a sigh of relief as Isaac Guerendo looked pretty good himself.
Barring a setback, Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson is expected to return to the lineup Sunday, Stephen Holder of ESPN reports. Richardson practiced all three days this week, putting him on track to get back under center. Coach Shane Steichen said Richardson “had huge strides this week, for sure.” ___________ Running back Bijan Robinson is on track to be in the Falcons lineup against the Panthers on Sunday. There was some question about Robinson’s status after he was added to the injury report with a hamstring issue on Thursday. Robinson was limited in that practice, but he was back to full participation Friday and he has no injury designation for the weekend. Wide receiver Darnell Mooney (knee) also returned to full work after two limited practices and he’s good to go for Sunday. _____________ The Eagles should have all their top offensive players on the field together again on Sunday against the Browns. Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith has officially cleared the concussion protocol and is expected to play Sunday. He’ll join fellow wide receiver A.J. Brown and right tackle Lane Johnson back on the field from injuries. Smith and Johnson both suffered concussions in Week Three and were cleared to return this week. Brown suffered a hamstring injury in Week One and has also just been cleared to return. _____________ Justin Fields will get at least one more go as Steelers starting quarterback. Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin said in his Friday press conference that Russell Wilson had a good week, but is likely to be the No. 2 QB for Sunday’s matchup with Las Vegas. “He’s proven his health, now it’s just a matter of knocking the rust off,” Tomlin said, via Mike DeFabo of TheAthletic.com. “He’s probably going to be active as the No. 2 quarterback. I like what I’ve seen out here. But again, health and rust are two different things. “I thought he had a good week, displaying his health, ability to protect himself. And now it’s just the process of getting re-acclimated to the ball.” _______________ Titans quarterback Will Levis has practiced all week and he’ll be playing on Sunday. Head coach Brian Callahan said at his Friday press conference that Levis will get the start against the Colts this weekend. Levis was knocked out of the team’s Week Four win over the Dolphins with a right shoulder injury, but the extra time off provided by the bye week helped clear the path for his return to action.
NFL, NFLPA issue joint statement regarding Josh Allen concussion evaluation It took five days. And it landed just after 4:00 p.m. ET on a Friday. The NFL and NFL Players Association have issued a joint statement defending the process that allowed Bills quarterback Josh Allen to return to action in the fourth quarter of a Week 5 game against the Texans, after striking his head on the ground and appearing to be in some degree of distress. He missed two minutes and thirty seconds of game time, and six minutes and six seconds of actual time. Someone offered Allen smelling salts before he re-entered the game. Here’s the statement that was issued to Tom Pelissero of the league’s in-house media operation. (As best we can tell, the statement wasn’t widely distributed; we definitely didn’t receive it.) “The NFL and NFLPA have reviewed the reports from the Unaffiliated Neurotrauma Consultant and Booth Spotters and those reports confirm that the steps required by the concussion protocol were followed in the evaluation and clearance of Bills’ quarterback Josh Allen in last Sunday’s game. “The protocol has been jointly developed and is jointly administered by the NFL and NFLPA. Under the program the parties jointly identify, retain and train Unaffiliated Neurotrauma Consultants and Booth Spotters.” Pelissero added a supplement, which isn’t in the statement."Both the league and union reviewed the video of the play and came to the same conclusion as the unaffiliated neurotrauma consultants, booth spotters and team medical staff,” Pelissero’s follow-up declares. “There was no loss of consciousness.” Loss of consciousness obviously isn’t the threshold for removal from play. The concern was, and still is, whether the evaluation was performed slowly and deliberately enough to come to a conclusion that Allen should have had a locker-room evaluation — or that he shouldn’t have returned. We’ve got no reason to doubt the unnamed Unaffiliated Neurotrauma Consultant or the unnamed Booth Spotters referenced in the bare-bones, self-serving statement. The broader question, again, is whether the in-game protocol is a checklist that can be expedited in a plastic tent on the sideline of a raucous 70,000-seat stadium, or whether it’s healthcare. The late John Madden advocated for patience and prudence with players who are suspected of suffering concussions. The league and the union continue to utilize a process that would both permit and, five days later, ratify what we saw on Sunday. Right or wrong, it can be concluded by reasonable minds the events did not reflect patience or prudence. It reasonably reflected urgency to get the losing team’s quarterback back on the field, as soon as possible. If the league, the union, and the player are fine with this approach, so be it. And the protocol will likely stay this way — until someone is cleared to return from a concussion when he shouldn’t have been cleared, sustains another one in the same game, and experiences a serious health consequence. PFT/Florio ________________ I think Mike Florio has a valid point here. Im not positive, but i dont think they have CT Scanning machines in those tents. Allen, imo fwiw, should have had a more thorough examination, at least not rushed back out, which Allen may have played a part in. Its just my opinion and Im not a neurologist or even someone who can spell neurologist, but you sure wouldnt wanna be wrong on the field in a situation like this.
The Steelers running game needs a boost. It’s getting one. Pittsburgh has upgraded running back Jaylen Warren from questionable to no designation, with a knee injury. It means he’ll definitely play on Sunday at Las Vegas. ___________ Smooth. Get that 2-headed monster run game going and maybe some points on the board and get dangerous again.
