There are plenty of concerns, when I get some time I do want to watch that JT tape since he made this one public. But overall, I cannot be upset at the win. This wasn't the first week where the defense bailed out the entire game, this one the offense finally contributed. What I liked: 1. This to me felt like progress. Slow, incremental progress, but progress. Waldron learning from his mistakes (though my patience with him is super thin already, because how do you not get the personnel used properly? HUGE red flag), Caleb starting to feel a little more comfortable despite the missed opportunities. Swift sometime in the first half I told my buddy he was the biggest waste of money in Bears history, so I guess he heard me and took that personally, heh. 2. The game turned around in the second half. And this has been the case for the past several games at least, even the losses. Is Eberflus actually good at making adjustments? Or maybe it's a highlight of Waldron? I don't know, but it is good to see. 3. Tory Taylor. I know a 4th is a lot, but this game was ridiculous for him. What I disliked: 1. You guys have hit it, but the defensive lapses. They would generate pressure and leave dudes wide-open. Overall, they are still good, but there's stuff to clean up. 2. Not our game, but the Vikings letting the Packers back in the game. After that first half their fans should have been on suicide watch, and now they can "feel good" that they made it "close". Fuck you Vikings. 3. Lots of bad calls this game, but stuff IN their control is the false starts. This is JV shit. Now we have the Panthers with Dalton (who are better at least than they were) and the flailing Jags. These SHOULD be two wins.
He posted a number for suicide prevention. Inferring that Chicago Bears fans want to commit suicide. My son committed suicide in 2007. I don't find that type of post funny or appropriate.
Agreed, not cool. My apologies for bringing up his idiot post then, and you have my deepest condolences. So many of these issues get swept under the rug by jokes and it can actively harm someone, suicide, drug overdoses, etc. Jesting about legitimate help lines is absolute garbage.
I wish I had the wherewithal to reply the way you did V. Thank you for your kind words. The post has been taken down so we can go back to our discussion here.
x.com Two things about this: 1- I don't know how talented Bill Murray the LG actually is, but Lineman who go looking for work like this.... can be on my team any time! 2- Contrast 1 with our pathetic LT, who first gets predictably walked back by a guy 40lbs lighter, then manages to give up 2 pressures to the same defender on 1 fucking play(would've been 3 without Murray!) and really should've had a Benny Hill soundtrack playing throughout the whole joke ass rep. Pathetic beyond words.
@Campbell i wasn't able to share this tweet, could only link to it. Are we not able to put tweets up here since it became X or something?
We know that won't get real film review in Halas Hall. No one is going to talk about Jones being too lazy to block his man. I think Poles consider LT a solved position, which is infuriating. I hope I'm wrong.
You know what really kills me, is Murray did #70s fucking job for him, and then 70 decides, "good enough" and dude gets up off the ground and STILL pressures Caleb! DO YOUR FUCKING JOB, AND PLAY TO THE WHISTLE. Fuck me. These assholes on reddit kept saying how the line was more than good enough last year, blah blah blah.
Overall, how can we be mad about that game? Yeah, there are moments that are still a little bit of WTF, and I missed most of the 1st half so I didn't see the TD they gave up. But what I did see: 1. Caleb starting to figure it out. Making calls at the line, seeing pressure, delivering the ball. He's going to continue to make rookie mistakes, but the growth is there. 2. Moore playing all out. Absolute baller. Swift showing up. Rome figuring it out. Kmet showing up. 3. Good pressure from the defense. What I hate: 1. Flappy bird fucking hands. People on social media were all over Caleb for the "claw" being corny, but Brisker gets a pass for this? He has more of the guys doing it now. It's embarrassing. Stuff I'm not sure about: 1. Pryor getting ejected. I mean, at that point, the game is won, come on man. On the other, I like him standing up for his teammates, so I don't know.
I was impressed. In order to be good, you have to win the easy games in simple fashion. They did that. Do it again against Jacksonville. Caleb has more 300 yard passing games in 5 starts than Justin Fields had in 3 years here. And people are making excuses for Fields again for not winning the game and mediocre stats. Probably my biggest gripe--Does DeAndre Swift really need 21 carries? Can Khalil Herbert maybe get 5? I liked Bill Murray at LG, and wouldn't mind keeping him there and more reps and give him every chance to be the starter going forward. It's not week 12, where everybody is hurt, and back ups are starters, it's week 5, and he was handling NFL starters, albeit on a bad team. Move Teven around, I'm tempted to say RG, but I'm also tempted to just bench and play later in the year when teams are banged up and cut bait when his contract ends this year. I think his back is fried, and its affecting his game, and he's been terrible this year. Either that or he's checked out and doesn't care. Davis sucks, and Pryor is replacement level at best, but he's had a handful of pretty good plays. I'm not upset over this "punch," I'd call it more of a swat and I like my OL protecting the QB because the Panthers were trying to hit him unnecessarily, but it was retaliatory. Wright is really hot and cold. Some plays he looks like he should be a highly paid guy. More and more plays he just takes a shit, albeit people are insinuating he's injured. I'm getting too tired to anymore with Braxton. You see it. I see it. He's a fucking swing tackle, not a starting left tackle in this league. Watch Poles piss us all off and give him a 10-20 OT in the league salary of 17-21 mil, and call it a "steal" on the market because top of market probably hits 30 within the next 2 years (Wirfs is the highest paid OT at 28.15 mil right now). At this point, I'm slowly coming to the realization that I've lost. I'm not getting a left tackle, and mediocrity will continue because there will always be a worse starter than him, and that's good enough. Just expecting it. And the idiot stans will defend it and cheer it, and call it smart but all it's going to do is stack the deck against your young QB by wasting payroll on a fucking mope. And we'll need Caleb or the starting LG to really be it to make Braxton Leno look better, or this offense isn't going to work. Yeah, I’m pretty sure Elon changed a bunch of shit in code he didn’t need to and really leaned into making a useful, easy to use platform shitty and useless because he's got a rich guy with a microdick complex. The same happened on ccs and one of their mods said it was X, not them, and there's a new way to embed them to get a post to show a tweet when you upload them; X changed just because.
It's this site. I need to get into the php that handles the embedding and update it to 'x'. These get the 'media' tag, which is also used for youtube, googlesheets, etc... If you remove the 'x' and replace it with 'twitter' in the link address it will work without issue. Since I'm normally on the laptop when I'm posting here, I use the 'embed' feature on X that you can find under the three-dot options tab on the upper right hand corner of a post.
Murray was out there flipping pancakes like he was running a fucking IHOP. If anyone needs help on this line it's Backspin Jones keep him the fuck there. Go figure that the two highest graded lineman in pass blocking were Pryor with an 87.5 and Murray with a 85.7, and while I don't put too much stock in those grades because oftentimes those grades don't pass the eye test as if they have Stevie Wonder doing the evaluations. I can't find that All-22 of Caleb's 30-yard dime to DJ. It shows his growth at the position not because he made that throw but how he baited the deep safety by looking right and then delivering a dime to DJ to the left one on one.
Since this is a rant and rave thread, I cannot understand the Fields stans. I wanted him to succeed here, but he is what he is. Electric legs, moments where he can hit a big play, and so, so many plays where he can't read the defense, hesitates. And NEVER throws with anticipation. I liked him, but objectively, he's not it. I'm glad the Bears moved on when the time is right. But there is a section of our fanbase that is full on retarded and in love with everything he is doing. His ceiling at this point is the 15th best QB in the league, no thanks. I want him to continue to do just well enough in Pitt to get us that 4th rounder, but also the team struggles enough that it's a high fourth (less likely with Tomlin).
And while we're on the subject, I know pat was high on Daniels and he's had an amazing start, but jesus christ can we pump the brakes on the HOF candidacy? The Redskins had an electric QB named RG3 and how did that turn out? They don't have Dan Snyder anymore so maybe things will be different
