The Vikings need to find a Matt Birk type of center in the draft I don't think he’s big enough to handle the other team Nose Tackle or a D-lineman I'm tired of this guy

 

The Vikings offense is crushing in the red zone.

Darnold is 14-for-19 with six scores and no giveaways in that space. That's more completions or touchdowns than any other quarterback inside the opponent's 20-yard line in 2024. His accurate ball placement is big.

But so is his mobility.

"If guys are still matched, he's more than capable of running it in himself. He's a good athlete. Those red-zone scramble drills we do on Fridays, they can come to life with Sam and it's real," Phillips said. "Usually the best red-zone teams in the league, they can run it in, and they can make plays off-schedule."

Darnold hasn't crossed the white stripe on his feet, yet, but he did demonstrate his mobility on the first of his four touchdown passes last Sunday. Darnold was able to escape a busy pocket to his left, gain depth on a rollout while keeping his eyes glued to the secondary and connect with Justin Jefferson who got creative with his corner route from the slot and worked toward the front-left pylon. Touchdown!

"He can do it, and some other quarterbacks can't," Phillips said. "When the field is condensed, there are going to be times where they kind of have the right coverage on or we have a hard time separating, or guys are getting grabbed and not getting called, whatever it may be, where you have to buy some time."

For what it's worth, Darnold got rolled up late in the game against the Texans and came out for one play. An MRI on his knee Monday came back clean. He's averaging 4.4 yards on eight scrambles this season.

Jordan Love will be a game-time decision for Packers' Week 4 matchup vs. Vikings

The Green Bay Packers will face their first divisional opponent this week in the Minnesota Vikings, and the main storyline is who will be playing quarterback for the Packers. Jordan Love has missed two straight starts after suffering a sprained MCL in the Week 1 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, but Malik Willis has kept Green Bay on track with two victories.

Love was limited in practice on both Wednesday and Thursday with his knee injury. Don't expect a final decision on his Week 4 status soon, as Packers coach Matt LaFleur told reporters on Thursday he will be a game-time decision.

"We'll give him up to game time," LaFleur said, per CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones.

Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison returned to practice on Wednesday and he feels ready to return to the lineup for Sunday’s game against the Packers.

Addison injured his ankle in the Vikings’ season-opening win over the Giants and has worked as a limited participant in practice the last two days. On Thursday, he said that he expects to return and that he expects to give the offense a jolt once he’s back on the field.

“I’m feeling good to jump back in,” Addison said, via Mark Craig of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. “We hot right now. Sam [Darnold] looking good. The O-line is playing good. We got a good run game going. I feel like having me out there is just going to take it up a notch.”

League sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter that Love was expected to be active Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings at Lambeau Field.

 

Cornerback Jaire Alexander is out for the Packers. Jefferson digs this. He hangs well with JJ, so maybe this leads to JJ getting open a bit more.

 

According to Adam Schefter, the Vikings plan to open the practice window for TE T.J. Hockenson soon, with the goal of having him back in either Week 8 or Week 9.

Hockenson has been impressing the team with his progress in his rehab from a torn ACL late last season, per Schefter, and there’s an outside chance he beats this timeline to return in Week 7 against his former team the Lions.

Minnesota has a Thursday night game against the Rams in Week 8 and takes on the Colts in Week 10.

 

Looked like it was going to be easy, but it was a tough second half... Packers came back hard. Vikings 31-29 winners to go to, 4-0.

Next week the Vikings are at home to take on the Jets... I wonder if Rodgers shows up?
