Cousins was 42-of-58, with London catching 12 passes for 154 yards and a touchdown. Darnell Mooney had nine catches for 105 yards and two touchdowns but also had two big drops, one of which looked like it might cost the Falcons the game.

Kyle Pitts caught seven passes for 88 yards, and Bijan Robinson ran for 61 on 12 carries.

Baker Mayfield completed 19 of 24 passes for 180 yards and three touchdowns, with Mike Evans catching five for 62 yards and two touchdowns. Chris Godwin caught five for 64, and Rachaad White ran for 72 yards on 10 carries.

The Falcons had 550 yards and the Bucs 333 in one of the most entertaining games of the season.

Speaking of Cousins... It was only the 25th 500-yard passing game in NFL history.

The Falcons had five players with 65-plus receiving yards in Week 5, tying for the most in NFL history in a single game. All five different set their season-highs in receiving yards.

Drake London: 154 receiving yards, 1 TD

Darnell Mooney: 105 yards, 2 TDs

    Kyle Pitts: 88 yards

    KhaDarel Hodge: 67 yards

    Ray-Ray McCloud: 66 yards

Ravens are creeping up (again) on record of consecutive games with 100 or more team rushing yards

In 2021, the Ravens matched the all-time record for consecutive games with 100 or more team rushing yards. To get there, the Ravens opted not to run out the clock but to go for the record, rankling former Broncos coach Vic Fangio.

The streak ended the next week. The Ravens and Steelers remain tied at 43 straight games. But here come the Ravens, again.

Baltimore’s current streak is 37, just six games shy of matching the record. And if the Ravens match the record they currently share with the Steelers, their chance to break it will come at, of course, Pittsburgh.

The Ravens last failed to gain 100 rushing yards in Week 1 of the 2022 season. The Jets held them to 63 yards on 21 attempts. (The Ravens won the game, 24-9.)

The Ravens also can become the fifth team to generate 1,000 rushing yards in the first five games of a season. They need 119 yards to get there. With 150, they’ll pass the 1983 (of course) Steelers for fourth on the all-time team rushing list through five games.

Jonathan Taylor ruled out for Week 5

If the Colts are going to win in Jacksonville for the first time since 2014, they’re going to have to do it without running back Jonathan Taylor.

Via multiple reporters, head coach Shane Steichen ruled Taylor out for the Week 5 matchup against the Jaguars during his Friday press conference.

Taylor is dealing with an ankle injury. He did not practice this week.

In four games this season, Taylor has rushed for 349 yards with four touchdowns and caught six passes for 77 yards.

Trey Sermon is in line to start for Taylor.

Malik Nabers remains in concussion protocol, out vs. Seahawks

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- The New York Giants will be without rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers because of a concussion when they travel to play the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, coach Brian Daboll said Friday.

They could, however, have starting running back Devin Singletary (groin) available after he returned to practice Friday for the first time this week.

Nabers is still dealing with a concussion suffered late in the loss last Sunday to the Dallas Cowboys. The No. 6 overall pick in this year's draft leads the Giants with 35 receptions for 386 yards and three touchdowns.

"We won't travel him [to Seattle]," Daboll said. "[We'll] keep him home. He'll be inside [Friday]. He is making progress, but we're going to do everything we can do to get him as healthy and right as we can."

Despite practicing, Browns' Nick Chubb ruled out vs. Commanders

BEREA, Ohio -- Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb, who returned to practice Wednesday for the first time since a severe knee injury in Week 2 of the 2023 season, has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Washington Commanders.

Chubb, who had a pair of surgeries to repair damage to his left knee, said Thursday that his knee felt good after his first practice.

"He looks like himself to me," said coach Kevin Stefanski, who was noncommittal on Chubb's availability for the team's Week 6 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Browns also said tight end David Njoku is questionable to play against the Commanders. Njoku has missed the last three games because of an ankle sprain.

Cleveland also listed offensive linemen Jedrick Wills Jr., Jack Conklin and Michael Dunn and running back Pierre Strong Jr. as questionable.

Wills, who sustained a season-ending knee injury in 2023, has only played in one game this season. Conklin, who sustained a season-ending knee injury in Week 1 of the 2023 season, has yet to make his season debut. Dunn spent the first four games of the season on the non-football illness list. And Strong has missed the last three games because of a hamstring injury.

The Browns also ruled out offensive tackle James Hudson, linebacker Jordan Hicks, running back Nyheim Hines and defensive end Alex Wright.

It's even crazier than that. All five games have been one-possession deals - not just the final score, but the entire game. Every single minute, including the Kansas City Refs game, has been within 8 points in either direction.

The Steelers will be shorthanded at running back for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys.

The team ruled Cordarrelle Patterson and Jaylen Warren out for this weekend on their final injury report of the week. Patterson hurt his ankle last weekend and Warren is missing his second straight game with a knee injury.

Quarterback Russell Wilson (calf) is listed as questionable for the fifth straight week. He has yet to be active for a game, so is likely to continue to be the team’s emergency quarterback.

Edge rusher Alex Highsmith (groin) and tight end MyCole Pruitt (knee) have been ruled out. Guard Isaac Seumalo (pectoral) is set to make his 2024 debut after avoiding an injury designation and linebacker Jeremiah Moon (ankle) is questionable after being designated for return from injured reserve this week.
    _____________

The Cowboys put DeMarcus Lawrence on injured reserve earlier this week and they officially scratched Micah Parsons on Friday.

Lawrence and Parsons were both injured in last Thursday’s win over the Giants and the outlook never looked good for Parsons this week. He did not practice at all because of his ankle injury and he was ruled out on the team’s final injury report of the week.

The defensive injury issues go beyond those two players. Cornerback Trevon Diggs was added to the injury report with an ankle injury on Thursday and he did not practice on Friday.
He’s listed as questionable along with linebacker Marist Liufau (quad) and cornerback Caelen Carson (shouder).

Wide receiver Brandin Cooks is also going to miss the game. Cooks is dealing with an infection in his knee after having a procedure following the win over the Giants.

The NFLPA wants to change the NFL’s media access policy.

“Over the past three years, the NFLPA has tried to work with the NFL and Pro Football Writers of America to move media interviews out of locker rooms,” the NFLPA’s executive committee said in a statement. “However, there has been little willingness to collaborate on a new solution. Players feel that locker room interviews invade their privacy and are uncomfortable. This isn’t about limiting media access but about respecting players’ privacy and dignity.

“The NFL’s current media policy is outdated. We, the NFLPA executive committee, urge the NFL to make immediate changes to foster a more respectful and safer workplace for all players. In the meantime, we encourage each player to ask for interviews outside the locker room during the week.”

The media policy always has allowed players to request interviews be conducted outside the locker room.

The PFWA released a statement in response: “The PFWA appreciates the NFLPA membership following the NFL media policy that has been in place for decades. NFL players asking to speak outside the locker room has always been part of the media access policy. We are in continuing discussions with NFLPA executives regarding the media access policy. The goal is to make everyone comfortable in locker room settings and to have players and clubs follow the media policy.”

Patriots HC Jerod Mayo addresses locker room 'mutiny' rumor

Per Jason Ounpraseuth of NESN, reporter Evan Lazar of the New England Patriots' website raised eyebrows when he said during the latest edition of the "Catch 22" podcast that the team's locker room was "teetering on mutiny," in part because first-year head coach Jerod Mayo continues to play struggling veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett over promising rookie Drake Maye.

Mayo spoke with reporters on Friday and said he hadn't "heard" Lazar's words. The coach was subsequently asked if he feels "like there’s frustration in the locker room" as 1-3 New England prepares to host the 1-3 Miami Dolphins this Sunday.

"It’s always frustrating when you’re not winning," Mayo acknowledged, as shared by Chris Mason of MassLive. "The guys put a lot of work in and everyone wants to try to find a solution right now while we’re going through this transition. So people are definitely frustrated and that’s a normal human response. I feel pretty good about the way that we’re going.

"I used the analogy the morning: It’s almost like flying through the clouds but you have to use the instruments until you get to clear skies. When I took this job, I knew the lumps would come. It’s part of the transition."

ESPN stats show that the Patriots will enter the weekend ranked last in the NFL with an average of 112.3 passing yards per game and 31st with an average of 13.0 points scored per contest this season. With that said, it's widely believed Mayo and others within the organization don't want Maye to take unnecessary beatings while playing behind an offensive line that has surrendered a total of 11 sacks over the last two weeks of action.

Patriots insider Karen Guregian of MassLive reported on Friday that "the players remain in Mayo’s corner" regardless of Lazar's original statements that have since been edited.

"When MassLive asked one trusted defensive veteran if Mayo had already lost the room - presenting the question as true or false - he quickly responded: 'Way false,'" Guregian continued. "He shook his head, saying that was the farthest thing from the truth."

Safety Jabrill Peppers went on the record and insisted that Mayo still "has the locker room" coming off New England's 30-13 loss at the San Francisco 49ers last Sunday.

"He’s a great coach," Peppers said about Mayo. "He knows what he’s talking about. He’s played not only here but in the league and made it to the highest level. He listens. He’s a playful guy, but when it’s time to work, it’s time to work, you know what I mean? We love playing for former players who understand it from your perspective and now, his new perspective as a coach, and how to go about things."

As of Friday afternoon, DraftKings Sportsbook listed New England as a one-point favorite against Miami.

NFL gives Denzel Perryman the biggest fine of 2024, $66,666 for hitting Kareem Hunt

The NFL has hit Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman with the biggest fine of the 2024 season.

Perryman was fined $66,666 for what the league termed “Unnecessary Roughness (use of the helmet).”

On the play in question, Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt took a handoff up the middle and Perryman lowered his head and drilled Hunt in the side of the helmet. No flag was thrown on the play.

The hefty fine coming on an un-penalized play is another reminder that the on-field officials and the league’s disciplinary process often view things very differently. The officials saw nothing wrong with Perryman’s hit; the league saw it as so egregious that it drew the biggest fine of the year.

It’s the second straight week that the NFL has come down hard on a Chargers defender. Chargers safety Derwin James was suspended for the Chiefs game because of a helmet-to-helmet hit of his own the week before.

Via Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, Chiefs receiver Rashee Rice will have surgery this week to determine the severity of the knee injury he suffered last week against the Chargers.

This sounds strange. With all the technology in todays medicine, its hard for me to imagine not being able to view or locate the damage without going in his knee and looking around.

Christian McCaffrey will not be activated for Thursday night's game in Seattle against the Seahawks, league sources told ESPN on Saturday, even though the 49ers star running back is eligible to return.

The bigger question continues to be when McCaffrey, who has been on injured reserve since Week 2 with calf and Achilles tendinitis issues, will be able to return.

McCaffrey's return depends on how he fares in practice, but for now, there is some mild encouragement because the three-time Pro Bowler's calf and Achilles issues did not flare up after on-field work this week -- his first on-field work since being placed on IR, according to league sources.
