Also its about time Swift makes a play. I know he's not being set up for success either but this guy was a big signing for Poles.
This play needs so much more focus. It's such a summary of how fucked this offensive philosophy is. There is zero reason to be setting up in that formation in the first place, ESPECIALLY if you're going to run the ball. You should know that you need a plan to block it up, and that means either having a back / motion TE assigned to that edge, or slide the OL that way. And then, your WR is there to run a fucking route, not block. BECAUSE YOU'D BE PASSING THE BALL OUT OF THAT SET. There is ZERO reason to have set up that way in the first place. This offense makes no sense. You hear the players talking about a lack of identity, you see the OL having no fucking clue what they're doing, you see the QB and the WR's constantly on different pages - this offense is a complete fucking mess. It is not an NFL offense in any way, shape, or form. It'd directionless and clearly lacks coaching from top to bottom. Also, Kmet is the most reliable positive player on this offense and it's not even close.
He never even makes the first guy miss. Herbert is a far better option but he boned one of the coaches wives.
Didn’t we sign Swift because he’s such a pass catching weapon? 4 fucking catches all season, none today. 7 fucking yards on nine carries. Really starting to develop a strong dislike for this signing
When he was being drafted, I was trying to caution people - the dude should be sitting for several years. He is so far off from NFL-ready. Sure, he's a physical freak, but he is so in over his head, especially after the injury in year one. If the Bears lose to this team because they can't play offense at a remotely NFL level, it's embarrassing. People will say that week 3 is too early for firings, and I get that. But this staff and this roster construction should never have taken the field this year in the first place. Don't make us sit through more of it if the offense can't get off the ground against this defense.
It made no sense, at the time. It screamed, "Making Caleb and / or the OC happy". And it was the Bears #1 priority signing - they made it first day of free agency, and had clearly been negotiating it in advance. Your #1 priority was not OL, it was RB. While Herbert and Roschon are on the roster. I know that I should be focused on the game. But I cannot say it enough - fuck you, Poles.
There's such a stark contrast between these two offenses. The Colts have an offensive line, some weapons, and an OC who knows his ass from a hole in the ground. But their QB has got to be one of, if not the worst at the position in the league, right now. You can see that the plays would work if Richardson wasn't a moron. Open receivers, smart motion and blocking, etc. The Bears? Not an NFL offense. You can just see it. Every play is hoping that something will come together, not because it's designed that way, but because someone makes a play beyond the structure of the play (offensive line, included). Prove me wrong here, Bears and Waldron.
