Packers' Jordan Love returns to practice, may play vs. Titans GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Twelve days after suffering a left knee injury in the season opener, Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love returned to the practice field and left open the possibility of playing Sunday at the Tennessee Titans. Love has missed only one game -- Sunday's win over the Indianapolis Colts, when Malik Willis started at quarterback -- after initial indications were that he could miss up to a month because of a sprained MCL. Love wore a protective brace that was covered by a sleeve that extended almost the entire length of his leg and was officially a limited participant in Wednesday's practice. Coach Matt LaFleur wouldn't specify whether Love took part in only selected drills or took part in every drill under a rep count. In addition to still needing medical clearance, Love would have to be mobile enough to protect himself from injury to play Sunday. "The trainers are seeing everything I'm doing and they're not gonna put me out there unless they feel confident that I can protect myself," Love said Wednesday. "But at the same time, that's why it's good to get some practice reps in and get that feel of what it's like again." Love acknowledged that not everything can be simulated in practice. "There's just nothing like when it's live bullets, you're in the game and that rush is real," said Love, "so there's a lot of things I might not experience before I get back in the game." Willis said he is impressed with Love's recovery. "You can see that he feels more comfortable just moving around the building, the way he was out there today," Willis said. "I wouldn't be surprised [if Love plays]. I just have to stay ready and focus on what I can control [and] leave it up to him and Coach LaFleur." Meanwhile, LaFleur has been tasked with trying to get Willis enough work in practice so that he can use more of the playbook than he did in Sunday's win over the Colts, when the Packers threw just 14 times and ran 53. "That's always a challenge, and so throughout the course of the week, hopefully you get a better indication and that kind of leads to some of the decisions you have to make," LaFleur said of getting two quarterbacks ready. Willis isn't looking at Sunday's matchup as a revenge game after the Titans traded him to the Packers for a seventh-round pick on Aug. 26. The 2022 third-round pick started three games for Tennessee, going 1-2. "No, I could care less, man," Willis said. "I think I got paid the whole time I was there. I'm more than blessed for the opportunities given me. They brought me into this league, whether those guys are there or not. That organization, they took a shot on me. ... They did a great job by me." ESPN
Dolphins, Skylar Thompson will start for Miami vs the Seattle Seahawks. Both teams sit at, 1-1. The earliest Tua can return is week, 8 vs the Cardinals.
Derek Carr's TD celebration, ala Michael Jackson, where he grabbed his crotch cost him $14,000 bucks. The NFL is freekin lame, so is/was Michael Jackson and anyone who grabs their crotch. You can actually saw off someone's head and get fined less... just dont grab your ballz.
I wouldn't call Michael Jackson lame, but he, AND THAT MOVE was really really weird... I don't know why anyone would want to emulate it...
I really feel like they're postponing the inevitable and he won't play. Too bad, I'd like them at full strength if the Steelers manage to win.
Russell Wilson, Steelers... Jordan Love, Packers - both inactive today. Justin Herbert is playing for Chargers vs Steelers... that will be a war in Pittsburgh.
Will Levis to remain Titans starter despite 0-3 start: Why Brian Callahan is sticking with second-year QB The Tennessee Titans are 0-3 to start the 2024 season, but they don't plan on making any changes at the quarterback position despite their struggles. The Titans fell 30-14 to the Green Bay Packers in another game riddled with sacks and turnovers. Will Levis finished 26 of 34 for 260 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions -- including a pick six. He was also sacked eight times in the loss. Titans head coach Brian Callahan noted after the game the reason the Titans are winless is not just on Levis and they need to improve as a unit. "We have to play better around him," Callahan said, via the Tennessean. The Titans defense allowed 378 total yards, including 188 rushing yards, and the special teams unit has been far from perfect this season, so Callahan's comments don't come without reason. "We've not played a complete game in any phase at any point yet," Callahan said. "We're capable of way better than what we've put on the field the last three weeks. No one is coming to save us, so we've got to figure it out." The Titans lost 24-17 in Week 1 to the Chicago Bears and 24-17 again in Week 2 against the New York Jets. Levis has the second-most interceptions in the league, and with three fumbles on top of the five interceptions, he leads the NFL in turnovers. Callahan downplayed Levis throwing at least one pick in every game so far. "Again, I'm not going to overreact to an interception," Callahan said. "Those things happen. Guys throw picks. We just can't give it to the other team. We keep giving up points the other way. It's hard to overcome." The Titans get the 1-2 Miami Dolphins on "Monday Night Football" up next. Tennessee's quarterback room also includes former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph. The 29-year-old was a third-round pick and joined the Titans this offseason. He is 8-4-1 as a starter, with 19 career touchdowns and 11 interceptions. The Titans lost quarterback Ryan Tannehill this offseason and the former No. 8 overall pick has yet to find a new team in free agency. CBS
Kirk Cousins matches Dan Marino as fourth fastest to 40,000 yards Kirk Cousins and the Falcons lost last night, to the Chiefs. Along the way, Cousins accomplished a rare feat. Via the team’s official website, Cousins has matched Hall of Famer Dan Marino as the fourth fastest to 40,000 passing yards. Cousins did it in his 153rd game. That’s when Marino did it. The only ones to do it faster were Drew Brees (152 games), Matt Ryan (151 games), and Matthew Stafford (147 games). Cousins became a full-time starter in his fourth NFL season. He started nine games before that. He then started for three years in Washington and six in Minnesota. He has 153 regular-season appearances with 148 starts. Cousins would surely prefer to have won last night. Based on how he has played so far this year, the Falcons will likely win their fair share of games. PFT
Darnold went for an MRI on Monday and multiple reports say that it showed no structural damage. Darnold has a bruise and is sore, but there does not appear to be any concern that he could miss Week Four’s matchup with the Vikings’ NFC North rivals from Green Bay. Darnold threw four touchdowns in the 34-7 win over the Texans and he has thrown eight touchdowns over the first three weeks of the season. He’s also completing nearly 68 percent of his passes for the undefeated Vikings, which has made him one of the most surprising success stories so far this year. Stolen from; PFT
Antonio Pierce on QBs: We’ve got to get with players, evaluate everything from yesterday Could the Raiders be the next team to make a quarterback switch? Head coach Antonio Pierce evaded a question on that subject, not ruling it out during his Monday press conference following Sunday’s 36-22 loss to the Panthers. Pierce inserted second-year quarterback Aidan O’Connell into the Week 3 contest late after the game had effectively been decided. Pierce noted he was looking for an offensive spark. While starter Gardner Minshew went 18-of-28 for 214 yards with one touchdown and one interception, O’Connell was 9-of-12 for 82 yards with a TD. “I mean, there’s some plays that I know — like we always say — that you want to make and take advantage of. But I thought we did do some good things,” Pierce said when asked about Minshew. “The problem is, when you don’t win on early downs, these longer third downs — that’s not in the best interest of our offense and Gardner. So we’ve got to do a better job on early downs and make it easier for him on third down.” As for O’Connell’s performance, Pierce said, “Well I just think, you look at how the game went, we’re down by two scores or so, let Aidan come in, see what he can do with the offense, move it. We were just trying to look for a spark.” Does that mean anything for O’Connell, Minshew, and the offense going forward? “I think we’ve got to get with the players and evaluate everything from yesterday first,” Pierce said. That non-answer is notable in and of itself. In three weeks, Minshew has completed 74 percent of his passes for 747 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions. He has also lost a fumble. But the Raiders have not had any semblance of a run game, averaging just 2.8 yards per carry on 55 attempts. Runs have resulted in just five first downs. O’Connell went 5-5 as a starting quarterback for Las Vegas last year, completing 62.1 percent of his throws for 2,218 yards with 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 11 total appearances. The Raiders will host the Browns in Week 4. PFT __________ ___________________ IMO, The offensive line is soft as jelly. Minshew and O'Connell have done well in moving the football without protection. In Minshews 3 starts at a 70+ completion percentage, he's been sacked a ton... 11 freaking times in less than 3 games. If you cant run (which involves the o-line) or block for your QB not too many positive things happen. Not to forget their defense has been for a couple seasons very soft also... been giving up way too many points, especially late in the 4th. Im not sure under these circumstances even Dan Morino could get W's.
Dave Canales: Andy Dalton is our quarterback, he gives us best chance to win There wasn’t much suspense about who will be starting at quarterback for the Panthers in Week Four, but head coach Dave Canales made an announcement at his Monday press conference anyway. Andy Dalton was 26-of-37 for 319 yards and three touchdowns in Carolina’s 36-22 win over the Raiders in Las Vegas. That was a huge leap up from what the Panthers did on offense with Bryce Young running the offense in back-to-back losses to open the season, so Canales isn’t going to be making any changes. “Andy’s our quarterback. He gives us the best chance to win,” Canales said. “That’s the approach as we get ready for the Bengals.”
