Yes Caleb missed the 2 deep passes but I think he's played ok all things considered. No one else has except maybe DJ.
They say all the best teams are built from the skill positions IN. “It all starts out back” I believe is the expression. Great job Poles.
Ruining Caleb Williams will be the Bears greatest masterpiece in over a century of ruining QBs. I honestly believe this team would've ruined Mahomes.
He's partly to blame. You don't think that he was having them draft Rome? Trained with him, was sitting on the plane with him, etc - they were building their relationship WELL before the draft, and Poles is on record saying they were trying to trade up for Rome in earnest before he fell to them. If he's in the decision making process on draft picks, you better believe he's part of the decision making process on other shit. You've got a GM that has placed no effort on building the trenches, a head coach that is pretending like he knows what the fuck to do with Caleb, and Caleb approaching things like he's already ready for this. He's not ready for this, and neither is this team / organization.
My son is a big Mahomes fan. He likes to say, "Dad, imagine if the Bears drafted Caleb Williams!". He's on the autism spectrum, so trying to explain to him for the fifth time that there's no guarantee Mahomes doesn't fail in Chicago is just too tiring. Now I just say, "Yeah, kiddo". And with Caleb Williams, we're going to find out real quick what might've happened with Mahomes.
Poles decided he was drafting Odunze at the combine. There was that video of Poles caught on camera saying as much to Cunningham and it wasn't immediately known who the player was, but it turned out to be Odunze.
Yeah. There has never been a sabotage-proof player, they all need help out there, especially in those early years transitioning to the pros.
I'll rescind my criticism, then. If this is all on Poles, then so be it. I absolutely believe it. Just surprises me that Caleb's side hasn't been more insistent on having REAL support around him, given the negotiating position he was in.
And we’ve seen some bad football players here over the decades. How can you do worse than Lucas Patrick?
It doesn't matter who you have playing QB, and it doesn't matter who the fuck your receivers are. If you can't block the guys immediately in front of your QB, you're going to fail. I know this as a fat fuck on his couch. Why doesn't Poles?
Special teams to the rescue cuz you know even if we hadn't scooped and scored that blocked punt the offense was going to go backwards and score 0 there.
