MIAMI -- Jalen Ramsey and the Miami Dolphins reached an agreement on a three-year extension worth $24.1 million per year, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter, making Ramsey the highest-paid cornerback in NFL history for a second time in his career. Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel confirmed Friday that Ramsey has signed an extension with the team. With the new three-year, $72.3 million deal, Ramsey is guaranteed to earn $55.3 million starting this season, which ensures he will have the highest career earnings for a cornerback in league history.
The first game of the 2024 NFL season reached a massive audience. NBC announced that Thursday night’s Ravens-Chiefs game had an average audience of 28.9 million viewers, which made it the most-watched of all the NFL Kickoff games since the league began the tradition of starting the season on a Thursday night. The viewership increased by 5 percent over last year’s 27.5 million viewers for the Lions-Chiefs opener. Kansas City was the top local market with a 43.4 local rating and 80 share, which means that 80 percent of all TVs in use on Thursday night in Kansas City were tuned in to the Chiefs. Baltimore had the second-best local viewership with a 24.5 rating and 60 share.
Kadarius Toney had a tryout with the Browns today, earlier in the week with Seattle. I suppose he could add some depth.
Bengals' Ja'Marr Chase game-time call amid contract talks, denies he wants a penny more than Justin Jefferson Ja'Marr Chase spoke to the media following the Bengals' Friday's practice for the first time since last season. Cincinnati's three-time Pro Bowl wideout said that a possible agreement regarding his contract is "in reach" and said that his status for Sunday's game against the Patriots will be a game-time decision. Chase, who has officially been ruled as questionable for Sunday, said that he will "probably be limited" if he does suit up. While his status for Sunday is up in the air, Chase said that he will play this season even if he does not get a new contract. The three-time Pro Bowler has two years remaining on his rookie contract after his fifth-year option was picked up. Regarding his contract, Chase clarified two things. He said that he did not ask for an extension this offseason and that the Bengals told him he would get one. Chase also shut down the report that he wants a penny more than what Vikings wideout Justin Jefferson received in his recent extension making him the NFL's highest-paid wideout. "If I wanna beat Justin, I'm gonna beat the shit out of Justin," Chase said of his former college teammate, via Cincinnati.com. "Not a penny, brother." Chase isn't the only Bengals wideout who may not face New England. Two-time 1,000-yard receiver Tee Higgins' has been labeled as doubtful for Sunday after he tweaked his hamstring during Thursday's practice. Not having Chase and/or Higgins would hurt, but the Bengals wouldn't be out of options for quarterback Joe Burrow. Rookie Jermaine Burton has had an impressive summer. The same can be said of second-year wideout Andrei Iosivas. Cincinnati is also expecting significant contributions this summer from Charlie Jones, the speedy second-year wideout who missed most of his rookie season with an injury. Wideout Trenton Irwin, running backs Zack Moss and Chase Brown, and tight ends Mike Gesicki and Drew Sample are also expected to have defined roles in the Bengals' passing attack this season. per/CBS
Can he be that small minded J̌a'Marr Chase just play better than Justin Jefferson and NOT ONE PENNY MORE laughing
Barkley scored and made me smile, then Reed on an end-around burns the Eagles defense. I hate missed tackles.
Refs bailing the Packers out that last drive. Pass Interference and Roughing the passer on same play. Both were BS. Then DPI on 3rd down in the redzone when Maddox trips on the shitty turf and impedes the receiver to get an uncatchable ball.
Waiting on Love's status. Terrible footing last night... wrong cleats, poor conditions, both. Thanks Goodell, was it worth it?
Barkley had 3 TD's, rushed for 109... Giants fans might be a tad miffed... still. Eagles vs Giants games are going to be fun.
Injuries happen and I get it, but that turf was crap. The NFL is an "international product", as Goddell says, but are we risking player safety to play on some garbage field that obviously wasn't ready for this game. If I was a player, I'd have serious issues with playing in places like South America. Germany and England are no problem. People in other countries may come down on the US for lots of things but I'd feel safer as a player here.
NFL warned more than 20 players they face suspensions for player safety violations The NFL has identified certain players whose on-field actions are putting other players at risk, and has told them they’ll be suspended if they don’t shape up. The league sent a memo about player safety and sportsmanship to more than 20 players and the teams that they play for, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. The memo warned that violations will result in suspensions. The full list of players who received the memo is not known, but the report says it included players who have previously been suspended for on-field infractions, which would include players such as Bills practice squad safety Kareem Jackson, Steelers safety Damontae Kazee, Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman, Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans and Patriots defensive tackle Trysten Hill. Teams also were informed at the league meeting last month that the club remittance policy is back, effective immediately, according to sources. This means that teams will face fines for players who are suspended for safety violations, personal conduct policy issue and drug suspensions. The NFL halted its remittance policy during the COVID-19 pandemic, but now has reinstated it for the 2024 season. "When a player receives league discipline for a Covered Infraction, the fine amount (or the amount of salary forfeited in the case of a suspension), up to a maximum of $75,000 per infraction, will be counted toward his club's season total," the league's memo to teams said. "For the 2024 season, the Remittance Policy will be triggered when players on a club incur more than $90,000 in fines or suspensions. If that threshold is exceeded, the club will be required to remit an amount equal to the cumulative amount of fines for Covered Infractions incurred by its players. "For example, if players on a club incur a total of $175,000 in fines/suspensions for Covered Infractions during the 2024 season, that club will be required to remit $175,000." Tennessee Titans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins will play in Sunday's season opener against the Chicago Bears, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Hopkins suffered a torn MCL on July 31 that kept him out until he returned to practice Wednesday. The Titans listed Hopkins as a limited practice participant on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. He was designated as questionable on the injury report. Hopkins said "it felt great" getting back on the field after practice Thursday. Hopkins traveled to California to start his recovery process before returning to Nashville last week. "To my knowledge, I think everything is healed though, so far, the way it's supposed to," Titans coach Brian Callahan said Friday. "I don't think there's any fear of any more injury than it was initially." Hopkins wore a sleeve on his left leg Thursday but practiced without any extra support Friday. After monitoring Hopkins during a team walkthrough Saturday, the Titans will keep close track of Hopkins on Sunday during pregame warmups. The Titans will go with six wide receivers including Hopkins since they didn't elevate any wideouts from the practice squad this week. It's highly unlikely Hopkins plays the full game against Chicago. "Any player that's coming off an injury or extended missed period of time, you're smart," Callahan said. "To ask a guy to go in there and play an entire game, every snap is a tough ask. You try to be at least -- have some sort of plan in place to rotate him enough."
