Isnt kicking the ball out of the endzone the only viable option now? There's nothing to think about, no strategy. Simply boring.
Actually, no... I knew that was the case before, but from the way coaches have been playing to avoid the tie, I just figured they had reverted to the old way.
You already know I feel that way. If I'm a head coach, I'm figuring that if the opposing return team is at least competent the ball will end up around the 27-28 even if my coverage team does their job well. I'd only be giving up 2-3 yards to take all risk of a game-changing breakaway off the table. I'd be telling the special teams coach to go for the touchback every single time.
The 30 yard line isn’t that hard to swallow, so make it the 40 and no one will kick it in the end zone
Or have them kick it from the 25 so that most kickers can't reach the end zone on the fly. If they can boot it more than 75 yards, great - the touchback at the 30 (or even put it back at the 20) would be a fitting reward.
Im thoroughly enjoying the 'no contract for Dak' before the season starts and the impending implosion of Aiyuk in San Fransico. The 49ers can now start, if they so desire, fining Aiyuk for every missed practice and meeting, because yesterday he was medically cleared to play and that sounds fine to me. Dak heading into his final season with no contract extension is a barrel full of drunken monkeys also. Keep up the good work Cowboys and 49ers... I need a good laugh.
Hate to be the Bengals if Chase doesn't sign an extension. The Aiyuk situation was bad enough, but the Bengals need their Diva, the beat continues. Too bad he is a dipshit who bases his income on what others make, especially Jefferson. Players dont seem to be deticate to teams or anything except the al-mighty dollar. Week 1 is just days away, still we and they await. Zac Wilson doesnt even have a clue as to what is happening and imo that lets the team and his players and staff down. I guess, my opinion is....screw him, period.
Here's my 'RO' for today. The New York Jets are overrated, overhyped and will be the luckiest team in the NFL IF they make the playoffs. They will get reminded of that early too, like Monday night in San Francisco.
I just read that Yahoo Fantasy Sports has Rickey Pearsall at a rating of 5 fantasy points this week. Damn, this guy's good!!!!
Unbelievable. As much as I do not like the Ravens, can’t help but feel for them on that final play…Likely’s big toe touching the back line of the end zone.
Yes Likely was incredibly unlucky to be out by an inch with his foot placement, and yes fucking Chiefs, but the scoring play should've happened the play before. The behind the endzone camera angle clearly shows it was a bad, inaccurate throw from Jackson that top passers don't miss. That said, i have to wonder about Flowers as well on this play. He finds a huge hole at the back of the endzone, why not just sit down and make it as easy on your QB as possible instead of running through the window? For all his impressive athletic gifts, Flowers displayed a lack of knowledge/instinct in playing the WR position in that instance imo. I want to believe Jackson thought Flowers was going to sit, hence the ball placement, but i think the pass was so far behind that it still would've been off target.
Might be the kind of stuff that happens in a game 1 situation after starters sit out the entire preseason. There's no sense of 'feel' for one another... you have to instinctively 'know' where or what someone is going to go/be and that comes from game experience, imo.
