Ya. I think the Eagles don't trust the depth enough right now. Ross and Campbell are probably over the hill, Covey is inexperienced still and more for special teams, Johnny Wilson has just started his ascent and Ainias has lost his hiking boots.
Browns trade kicker Cade York to Commanders for 7th-round pick ASHBURN, Va. -- The Washington Commanders have traded for kicker Cade York, hoping he can fill a hole created by an unexpected turn of events in the spring. The Commanders sent a conditional 2025 seventh-round pick to the Cleveland Browns to acquire York. He becomes the third kicker they've acquired since having to release veteran Brandon McManus in May. Cleveland selected York out of LSU in the fourth round of the 2022 draft and he rewarded them immediately with a 58-yard game winning field goal to beat Carolina in his debut. But York struggled thereafter, making 24 of 32 kicks his rookie season. He was 9-for-12 on kicks between 30 and 49 yards. Then, last preseason, York missed multiple potential game-winning kicks -- one was blocked -- in addition to an extra point. The Browns then traded with the Los Angeles Chargers for veteran Dustin Hopkins, who kicked for Washington from 2015-21, and released York. York spent part of 2023 on the practice squads of the Tennessee Titans and the New York Giants. While with the Giants he suffered a quad injury, ending his season. He did not attempt a kick in a game last year. Cleveland signed him in the offseason. The Commanders signed McManus in the offseason after allowing Joey Slye, who handled the duties the previous two-plus years, to leave via free agency. But they cut McManus after a lawsuit was filed against him alleging sexual assault on a team plane while he was a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Washington coach Dan Quinn said they did not know about McManus' situation prior to signing him. Washington signed Ramiz Ahmed in the spring and then added veteran Riley Patterson in training camp. The Commanders cut Ahmed on Aug. 13. Patterson was cut Thursday morning after being inconsistent in practice and missing 2 of 4 field goals in Saturday's preseason game at Miami. I was just going to post that Richardson looked plenty ready as he was 7 for 8 with a TD... then boom, he throws the 'pic-6', lol... you never know.

"Falcons" vs Jaguars... Jacksonville played their starters. Atlanta started their third-stringers. It went exactly as you'd expect.
Cowboys lose DaRon Bland for 6-8 weeks with foot injury Cowboys All-Pro cornerback DaRon Bland will miss the start of the season. The Cowboys announced today that Bland is out for six to eight weeks with a stress fracture in his foot. “DaRon Bland experienced foot discomfort on Wednesday of last week during training camp in Oxnard,” the Cowboys said in a statement. “Subsequent imaging revealed a stress fracture in his foot. He will undergo surgery to repair the injury and is currently projected to be out for 6-8 weeks.” That’s a big blow to the Cowboys’ defense. Last year Bland led the NFL with nine interceptions and 209 interception return yards, and he set a new NFL record by returning five interceptions for touchdowns. He was named a first-team All-Pro and finished fifth in Defensive Player of the Year voting. Rookie fifth-round draft pick Caelen Carson will likely be the next man up while Bland is down. PFT
Cardinals DL Darius Robinson considered to have multi-week calf injury, could begin season on IR The Cardinals will likely have a prolonged wait for the regular-season debut of one of their first-round picks. Defensive lineman Darius Robinson suffered a calf injury in Thursday's practice and his recovery timeline is considered to be multiple weeks following scans, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Saturday, per sources. Rapoport added that Robinson, the No. 27 overall pick in the 2024 draft, could possibly begin the season on injured reserve, which would make him ineligible to play until Arizona's Week 5 tilt against the San Francisco 49ers.
