The Steelers won’t have center Nate Herbig for an extended period of time.

Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Herbig has a significant left shoulder injury. Herbig was hurt late in Wednesday’s practice, the final day of training camp.

Herbig was the team’s starting center since the beginning of training camp.

Rookie Zach Frazier now becomes the starter.

The Steelers drafted Frazier in the second round after releasing Mason Cole, who started all 34 games at the position the past two seasons.

The Browns have brought back a pair of players as part of several roster moves on Monday.

Cleveland announced the club has signed linebacker Brandon Bouyer-Randle and offensive tackle Chim Okorafor.

Bouyer-Randle and Okorafor were both previously in this year’s camp with the Browns. Bouyer-Randle spent time with the Buccaneers and Commanders last year as an undrafted rookie out of Connecticut. Okorafor was with Philadelphia and Minnesota last year as an undrafted rookie out of Benedictine.

One of Cleveland’s corresponding moves was to place offensive tackle Hakeem Adeniji on injured reserve. He suffered a knee injury during the team’s preseason game against Minnesota over the weekend.

The Browns also waived receiver Matt Landers.

As the 2024 NFL season gets closer and closer, the injuries for the Buffalo Bills continue to pile up.

Backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky (knee), wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling (neck) and tight end Quintin Morris (shoulder), who is undergoing further evaluation, will all be out multiple weeks, coach Sean McDermott said Monday. Wide receiver Curtis Samuel (turf toe), safety Damar Hamlin (hamstring) and linebacker Baylon Spector (calf) are all week-to-week.

The injuries -- some suffered during the team's second preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday night, some before -- are the latest in what has already been a tough spring and summer for the Bills.

A number of players are missing significant time because of injuries, and starting linebacker Matt Milano tore a biceps in practice last week.

Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs 'trending the right way' to play Week 1

After injuring his hamstring during a practice last week, Detroit Lions Pro Bowl running back Jahmyr Gibbs is "trending the right way" to play in Week 1, head coach Dan Campbell said.

Campbell expects the second-year star to return to practice next week following Detroit's final preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Aug. 24.

"He's trending the right way," Campbell ahead of Tuesday's practice. "Wish we had more practice with him but as far as the health of it, he is healing and he's on schedule to be back and get his legs back under him and we'll see where he's at."

Gibbs, 22, exited the night practice early on Aug. 12 to be evaluated for a leg injury, although it was unclear what happened on the play.

As a rookie in 2023, he played a pivotal role in the offense while rushing for 945 yards and 10 touchdowns to go along with 316 receiving yards and a receiving touchdown.

Detroit has been bitten with the injury bug recently as Pro Bowl tight end Sam LaPorta (hamstring), OT Dan Skipper (ankle), OG Kevin Zeitler (shoulder), LB Malcolm Rodriguez and rookie DBs Terrion Arnold (pectoral) and Ennis Rakestraw Jr. (ankle) have all been injured.

However, Campbell anticipates them being ready ahead of the season opener versus the Los Angeles Rams on Sept. 8.

"Our plan is to get him going next week," Campbell said of Gibbs. "He's trending the right way and we're hoping the day after the Pittsburgh game, I think we're going to get a lot of guys back hopefully Sunday and hopefully they'll get in next week's practice before Rams and then we'll do Rams practice."

The Bengals got Sam Hubbard back on the practice field this week, but another one of their defensive ends is now dealing with an injury.

Reporters at Tuesday’s practice shared that Myles Murphy had to be helped off the field by members of the training staff after suffering a non-contact injury. Murphy reportedly grabbed at his right knee and then went inside for further evaluation.

Murphy was a first-round pick last year and he had 20 tackles and three sacks during his rookie season.

The Bengals lost Cam Sample for the season to a torn Achilles earlier this summer and his absence makes Murphy an even more important piece of the edge rusher group in Cincinnati.

Derrick Henry opens up about role in Ravens offense

This offseason, the Ravens added running back Derrick Henry to the NFL's best rush offense from a year ago in what many believe is a match made in heaven.

Now with the offseason in the rearview mirror and just about two weeks until Baltimore kicks off the regular season against the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, Henry is confident he made the right decision.

"I'm comfortable now," Henry said. "I'm right at home. Training camp was good. We got a lot better. Still getting better, but I'm comfortable and right at home."

The Ravens have decided it's best to keep Henry sidelined throughout the preseason given the eight years of tread he's already put on his body in the league, but he's looking forward to finally taking the field with his new team.

"I'm definitely excited to play, and can't wait until that time comes, but it's all about polishing and getting everything down and continuing to get better until that time comes," Henry added. "I'm sure everybody out here is itching to get to Week 1 for sure."

Baltimore hopes that pairing Henry with two-time NFL MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson and four-time Pro Bowl fullback Patrick Ricard will take its run game to a whole other level in 2024. Henry seems confident that can happen.

"That's something I look forward to," Henry stated. "Anytime 'four-two' (Ricard) is in front of me, I'm comfortable, so I'm good. I have to make something happen."

In the meantime, however, Henry is focused on knocking off the rest of his rust in practice so that he's ready to go come Week 1.

"I might be a little rusty," Henry concluded. "But I should be fine."

The two-time NFL rushing yards and touchdowns leader (2019, 2020) has rushed for 9,502 yards (4.7 yards per carry) and 90 touchdowns in his NFL career.

Commanders trade Jahan Dotson to Eagles

The Eagles have made a trade to bring in a receiver and they’ve done it with a division rival.

Philadelphia announced on Thursday that the club has acquired former first-round pick Jahan Dotson from Washington.

The Eagles will send a 2025 third-round pick and two 2025 seventh-round picks to receive Dotson and a 2025 fifth-round pick from the Commanders.

Dotson, 24, was the No. 16 overall pick in the 2022 draft. He played 12 games and caught 35 passes for 523 yards with seven touchdowns as a rookie. But in 17 games last season, he registered 49 receptions for 518 yards with four TDs.

With a new coaching staff and front office in Washington, Dotson had fallen behind on the depth chart. Now, he’ll get a chance to show what he can do alongside A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith in Philadelphia.
