I’ve now grabbed: a future starting QB 2x possible #1 WR 2x rookie RB with a chance for the future 2x vet TE that’s listed as #1 on the depth chart a possible #3 Edge who finished strong in ‘23 I don’t remember the last draft in this league I was this excited about
I feel like this offseason I took good stock of some of my recent mistakes that have knocked me down a bit. And it's helped me re-focus my strategy. It helps having enough front end talent to really go for it now. Just feels like my targets are so much clearer this year
I've had more of an injury problem but the last 2 seasons I wanted to get younger all-around on offense and I have definitely done that. I was targeting Brooks this draft but I wanted a RB and a WR in the 1st two rounds. I just didn't like my chances at a good RB in the 2nd. All the top names were indeed gone by then and I took Mitchell at WR who I really like.
The other obvious difference is picking 5th overall this year vs 21st last year (thanks to my Jeudy trade blunder). But even the year before, I couldn't tell you what I did. Olave at 9 or 10? Didn't move the needle anyways.
I like A LOT of RBs this year. But as far as counting on someone as a difference maker by the second half of this season, there's really only two names I see. By 2025 maybe a couple more get the touches. But there's no obvious early payoff waiting with most of them. Gotta just trust your gut and be patient.
Just got in. Going to fire up some NHL playoff hockey and relax (no jinx). And thank goodness I can stream Canadian broadcasts.
