I think MIN absolutely crushed the first round.

Got a passer they wanted (probably player B or C in the plan) and didn't have to give up Dallas Turner to do it.

    Just good stuff by Kwesi.

Now to get JJ resigned and it’s a damn good offseason.

Tennessee had the simplest approach, and I'm here for it.

Callahan "Should we look at the offensive or defensive line?"

Carthon "Let's just take two big fuckers for other side and go get a beer."

Actually read a report that Maye was their target and offered their 11th, 23rd and next years 1st, but that didnt materialize so they went full-bore on McCarthy... I just dont know if that report was reputable because I havnt heard it from Kwesi, KOC or Vikings.com and after the fact I doubt we will as that would be a slight towards McCarthy. Over-all Id say Im well pleased and syked.

Another interesting tid-bit I gleaned was a coach on offense at Michigan actually had the offensive players studying the Vikings offense on how to run their type of system and plays, I found that very interesting and quite flattering.

Your right tho, getting a solid future QB and snagging Turner was quite amazing. Today their target will be very important/interesting also as a WR3 is needed along with CB and a DT (according to my thinking)... BPA of those positions I guess.

First off, congrats to you, Will.

You can put the glue down and step away from the window, my friend.

I'm interested to see if they Vikings thought they had a chance at Penix and viewed him as an option. NO, LV and DEN all we're trying to move up for him, then NO rumored to be looking at McCarthy once Penix was off the board. If we're reading between the lines, which is really the only space available at the moment, then DEN and LV wanted Penix over McCarthy and Nix.

From what I've read, the Broncos were comfortable with Nix falling to them if nothing else materialized.

Its all intriguing to me. These GM's have to be quickdraw gun-slingers when the phones start ringing and the rumor wheel starts moving... discernment of ciphering through all the smoke-screens is a must too. It wouldnt be a surprise to me if they even called Washington on Daniels just to kick the tires and if Nix would have fell to Minnesota Ida been cool with that too.

Once it was written in stone that Williams and Daniels were locks, I suppose Maye, McCarthy and Penix with Nix literally became pawns on a board and were jockeyed all over the place. LV, DEN, NYG, MIN and NE made this one hell of a flustercluck from the very beginning... and it was enjoyable to watch unfold.

NFL Network talking about Frank Gore Jr, and how they just remember interviewing his father and go on a rant talking about mortality and everyone else was like DUDE!

My favorite in the entire draft is the new Eagles' DB tandem. THe horrible DB room last year was the primary reason for the downfall. Fangio is having multiple orgasms .

I can't help but bite here...

For me QB early is and always will be a yes/no proposition. There isn't a scale or a gray area. Do you see this prospect as a franchise QB level prospect. If yes take them if no, not worth a first round pick. I never bothered to watch Daniels or Williams this year. Caleb was obviously never going anywhere but Chicago. Daniels... Didn't seem like a possibility AND I have reservations about him so I didn't care enough to put on film. To me Maye is a franchise QB level prospect. Coming to the Giants he would have gotten to work behind Lock and Jones with Daboll to bring him along. Let the other two take a beating while the line sorts itself out and let him learn the offense and be brought along with no pressure in year 1.

I liked McCarthy. I would have taken McCarthy. But I honestly have 0 conviction about what McCarthy's ceiling really is and I don't want to spend #6 overall on a game manager. To me he probably winds up a better QB the Jones but how much better? Is he a middling starter circa Jones 2022. (We can get into realities about that season some other time lol)? Do you really think he's better then that? So I get the idea, in theory, of taking the player that is blue chip and fits your offense like a glove. I get passing on a QB that you lack that sort of conviction on.

But that brings us back to Nabers. Someone on a Giants fan forum was doing a victory lap. Oh we finally got Jones his WR1! I replied great now when do we get Nabers his QB1? Because the Giants currently have a couple of QB2's. Giants fans, for the most part, don't want to admit that Jones is basically Mitchell Tribusky with a worse injury history. They look at the false hope of 2022 (when Jones still wasn't particularly good) and think 2023 was a fluke because of early injuries etc... I worry that this front office is maybe drinking from that same cup right now. The only thing I can think right now is that they are hoping Dak hits free agency next year and they try to go all in on him? There really isn't a plan at QB right now. Jones get $25 million guaranteed next year if he takes another big injury. And that seems fairly likely at this point. Lock is on a one year deal. Tommy Devito is not an NFL starter no matter how much development he gets.

From where I sit they really are just running back prior bad decisions. They took the shiny object instead of the QB. Then in R2 and 3 they are ignoring the fact that their offensive line still needs pieces. They refused to spend premium dollars at the safety position but then use premium draft resources on it. I get that they are going to have a different defensive system and need different players to fit that. But shit man if you bring in Nabers you focus needs to be making life as easy as possible on your bad QB's so you can take advantage of that. They called Jones to let him know it was Nabers before the pick was announced. I think the front office really likes Jones as the QB and didn't see any of the other guys as upgrades... And that to me is just wild.

And so here I sit. Feeling like the Front office made a bunch of moves to build an exciting young core. The WR room has me juiced up. Bringing in Burns is super exciting to pair with Thibodeaux and Lawrence. Okekere has been a revelation at Mike. They are FINALLY after like 15 years trying to build an offensive line that has some semblance of cohesive skill set and prioritizing pass blocking... Some really smart and interesting moves and these guys are all going to be on the field with each other for the next 3 or so seasons.

And they pair all that with me having absolutely no hope at the QB position and thinking they are going to be a consistently 7-10 team that can't figure out the QB position until that young core ages out or leaves in free agency. The draft isn't supposed to be about this year. But right now it feels like they made all their choices based on this year.

Giants reportedly offered 6 and their 2025 first. I understand that is already an overpay but I'd have thrown in 47 and force them to say no to that. That's how depressing it is to me right now.

I feel like I was just standing in line at a theme park for a new roller coaster called 'Emotional Hell' and watched it fly by, only to get a quick glimpse directly at your face before saying "Nope, fuck this...", throwing my french fries over my shoulder, stepping out of line and heading to the arcade for some Skee-Ball.

    Sounds about right lol.

I swear for a franchise that loves to talk about their history so much... they never seem to want to learn from it. The worst part is I actually like Daboll and Schoen. I can talk myself into trusting the process etc... But shit man is the plan just let Jones play out his contracts and tank for Arch Manning in 2026? Good luck if that's the case...

It's Troy Franklin. He had to be one of the highest names remaining on most boards that didn't see a disqualifying trait.

It all goes back to the decision to tag Barkley and give Daniel the bag.

That was where they lost me, and they haven't done anything to change my mind.

And apparently the disqualifying trait was concern on his route running from the combine.
