Well I appreciated the chance to reconnect to Yinz. See you Saturday NC. So many posters lost in the abyss of having a life. Remember steelers=sb. He's now in his 30's with kids. He was in High School when he was posting on CBS.

Just think I put 500 hours into this thing since February, for what? A tackle that may need surgery.
Teams value QB and OT over every other position, keep that in mind for tomorrow. Well scrap that there isn't shit left.
There are 7 CB's I have with round 2 grades.
There are 5 WR with round 2 grades.
I think they go Defense quite honestly, two positions have great value at 51, and DL is not one of them.
Good night guys, I enjoyed most of this until we took a Wounded Husky. :wall:

Guess I beat myself up too much

had these in my the board when Steelers picked as BPA

    Q Mitchell
    T. Arnold
    T. Fantanu

OT is a high value position , get a Rookie on a 5 year contract. Also QB WR and edge rushers . Brock Bowers was the best TE but he slid with all the OT WR and QB going early.

    round 1 results

    8 OT
    7 WR
    6 QB
    5 Edge
    3 CB
    1 DT
    1 IOL
    1 TE

Pittsburgh went OT because the next tier is nowhere near the talent of Fantanu. I guess they value Rush and Trice more than I thought.
Top of round 2 I cansee the Bills trading back with Washington. Obviously their target was Brian Thomas Jr once he was gone they didn’t have a first round grade on any other WR. I guess they listen to offers or take McConkey or Adonai Mitchell. ?

The WR room is thinning out, but there are a few other positions of need.
Kool-Aid can be a bit grabby that is why he slid, but not for long.
The last two WR were either fast or physical specimens, AD Mitchell won't last, neither will McConkey.
What is Cooper DeJean, FS, Nickel, maybe he would be a Belichek guy who just looked for Football players Steelers have Minkah, they don't need a center Fielder. Maybe he is a box safety, I just don't see it.
I am not mentioning anyone I think will be there at 51, it's a tradition we started back in 2009 or 2010 on CBS. but we can use code names.
Sadly all the reading and watching I did wasn't much help, in fact Kiper had Fantanu as BPA, I will admit when I was bettered by a guy who's been doing in 365 24/7 for 40 years. Still don't care for him. He has Eichenberg at 205. Damn I agree with that.
AS much as I like a certain LB unless he falls, Steelers pick in the trenches or on the boundries, either side of the ball.
Horrible class for DT and it shows. I predicted Gabe Hall at 147, interested to see how close I came.
I think that next year I just use an NFL based board, too much work, not much reward. Besides they are paid professionals. Hey I try to do my best but given my medical, I got X amount of days left on Earth, maybe time spent elsewhere.
I also think I want to hate less of these bozos on tv, I got the most powerful buttons in the world including Mute, Chanel up or down, and power off. World would be better off with less hate anyways, it's more or less they're annoying time to move on.
I have not discussed a draft trade for a player either. SF might be wheeling and dealing and I don't think Tee Higgins is happy in the Queen City. I mean that is kinda of bitch name for a town, I like Steel City better, sounds much cooler and blue collar.
Waiting on Pittsburgh dad to comment on the Fantanu pick. Was chatting via text with another poster, I think we came to the conclusion that Fantanu was the right choice. My initial response was sour, but I had time to think about it overnight and move on.
Bo Nix was a bad reach, I think Russel Wilson and Payton were Alpha males it was never going to work out from a personality standpoint. Nix is a dump it off guy, Payton is more of a intermediate and long pass play caller, we shall see.
Not sure who is protecting the NE QB, the OT board was wiped clean and hit with Windex. Chicago has a stud RT and some good pieces, I think Williams will be fine.
With picks 36, 40 Washington can add some pieces to make Daniels successful. Looking at their needs They are probably bummed Guyton and Leggette went early, Hogs Heaven had them penciled in. Foster and Fisher are ranked early 3rd, not sure of the plan.
Raiders had a good TE room, why didn't they take the best OT available? Short answer, they are the Raiders. Best QB available is Rattler, I got a round 3 grade on him as do many other sites, so they will take him at 44.
Penix is already 24, by the time Cousins contract is done he will be 27 and have 2 years left on his rookie deal. That was a head scratcher, why not see what Cousins does then take a QB next year who is 21 or 22. Wait that is logical.

When looking at players available pay attention to the age. Covid gave us some older guys and time to form more bad habits perhaps. Or are they more mature, not sure, punks gotta be punks.
Keep in mind who Pittsburgh had in for visits. Neither MItchell or Arnold were guests of the facility, I missed that and I know better.
There is a new Sheriff in town, when was the last time they took a player in round 1 from the West Coast? 2012 DeCastro and Troy in 2003 so it's kind of rare.
Also Steelers almost never go back to back OL in drafts, never remember seeing it before, that is Andy Weidl's influence as a factor I'm convinced.
Props to Cam for making a difference in the Community, his award was long overdue and glad he got to make the pick. No idea who is announcing the next pick. My vote would be The Bus since it's Detroit. But I'd like a vet or a make a wish child too.
Taking a break, life happens will check back in later today in the afternoon. Be safe my friends. Health and Family are always the best choices.

I never block anyone because I try to find something good, even in the most pointed criticism, but I actually used the ignore button in this case. There's just nothing constructive in any of those posts, particularly with all the work that you do-FOR FREE.

This is a great forum. Too bad for that one.

The way I figure (and my figurings have no real value; I'm just a fan), the Steelers entered this draft with two Critical Needs, two strong Wants, and a couple Gee, It Would Be Nice spots to fill. OT (one of the strong Wants) was definitely the value in the first. Premier OTs are hard to get and almost never appear after round one. If they cover their critical needs in the next two picks, this is great. I just don't feel secure that each of those Critical Need positions will be value picks where they are picking. Is a team better off picking BPA and ignoring glaring needs, or picking for needs and maybe not getting the best players?

With the Colbert/Tomlin team, we rarely had to worry about this. They always covered all positions with Somebody before the draft so they never had to reach. The Kahn/Tomlin team is bolder and takes more risks. And this has put them in a spot where they have unaddressed needs.

I guess we'll find out today.

I can't speak for the team, but I value Trice. In camp last year, he was ahead of JPJr. If he is healthy, I think he beats out Jackson for the starting CB spot (or at least takes over after a few games). The question for me is his health. How well has he recovered/rehabbed from his injury, and has it messed with his head? If the team can upgrade with a top CB that they love, great, but I think they already have their next CB. What they need is a nickel/slot CB or someone to push Elliot at S.

The Steelers like the players who come for visits. Of the 30 official visits (plus 6 local visits), only 9 have been selected so far. So there are still 27 visitors on the board:

    C - 4
    OG - 1
    OT - 3
    WR - 5
    DL - 5
    LB - 2
    CB - 6
    S - 1

I hope they don't go DL day two, really don't like any of them. Day 3 a few I think would be good depth.
I think it's obvious the target in round 2, see top of the list. If both are gone, so be it, means a CB or WR will get pushed down.
I was surprised the WR that were 2nd round grades went late first, teams just couldn't wait.
Only 2 LB on the list, the two I really like were not part of the 30.
This might be the year of the short slot CB, like I said before I read that no CB 5-9 was taken before pick 83, I feel this draft will set a different bar.
I would hope the right situation comes up where Kahn slides back a few spots and picks up a 5th. Can't do that if you like the talent available when you pick.
I am against trading future picks and pick 51 for a disgruntled WR with a big contract looming may not be a great idea. Not a numbers guy, that is beachbum.
Don't think Cincy will snipe Pitt, they need DL help and probably looking at Jenkins or Hall and Newton if he falls which I am not a fan of scheme wise.
Philly won't snipe Pitt on the CB, but they could snatch up a WR right before Steelers are OTC, that would suck.
Of the next best 19 available I count at least 4 the Steelers will not be taking based on Need and HWS.

    33. WR to Buffalo
    34. WR to NE

not mentioning names because The Steelers are in the WR market.
