You went out of your way to say it's "absurd". I'm trying to find out why.

Atypical, yes. The real NFL has free agency, waiver wire pickups, etc. We don't have that in this mock, so to establish that I'm adding the recycling projects like Jack Anderson and Wesley French, we added them to a trade.

Eric Tomlinson for 253 was something we worked out separately but threw in the same announcement. He was an up-and-coming player with new Seattle coach McDonald when they were both in Baltimore.

What's absurd is the volume of players included in a single trade. If it's two separate trades in one post, then I must have missed that. And by "absurd" I did not intend to imply unfair or one-sided. Sorry if it did. That's my bad.. poor choice of words. Anyway, I don't understand your agitated defense. As atypical as it is, as I said, it's fine. Carry on.

We worked them out separately but announced them simultaneously as one trade.

There are actually three trades - the trade was Pinter and French for my other 7th, but we kept talking. Second trade would be a pick swap of some kind for Anderson, so we went with the 192 instead of my other seventh. Third trade was Eric Tomlinson for 253. Announced all together as One Big Recycling Project trade. (We're big on recycling in Seattle.)

So then... I completely misunderstood. I read it fast and saw a trade with a stable of current players.

What makes it hilarious was that I almost traded RT the 192 earlier when he was on the clock at 99. I had 102 and really, really wanted Dadrion Taylor-Demerson. I was going to offer him 192 as the trade bait to move up the three spots to make sure I didn't get sniped. But I held off and DT-D safely fell to me anyway.

So the two picks I gave up were essentially both extra freebies that I traded for a bunch of extra depth pieces.

Nah, you didn't misunderstand. We posted it as one trade. But behind the scenes we kept talking even after we worked out the first trade. We ended up with the Anderson deal next and then the Tomlinson deal. And then we lumped it all into one post.

For the record, I really like Anderson's potential. He has simply been snake-bit with injuries. So I can't trust him as the main guy that I pick up, since he's likely to be the captain of the IR team, but I'm very happy to put him in the shopping cart with the others.

Tomlinson was one of McDaniel's up-and-coming guys in Baltimore, so that's simply a case of getting the new coach one of his former players. Listing him as a FB was entirely my idea. I see him in an H role, in line at TE or lead blocking from the backfield rather than splitting out as a route runner. Seattle doesn't have a fullback heading into the draft, so he has a solid chance of making the roster in that H role.

As already noted, I do NOT like Laken Tomlinson at all, so I'm making sure that I acquire enough potential interior linemen so that he never starts, and if possible to knock him entirely off the roster.

Along those lines, I traded for Chris Paul earlier and drafted Jordan Morgan. I think Chris Paul is ready to step up to a true starting role. But if I'm mistaken about that, Pinter, Anderson and Nick Harris will all be competing for that spot as well. I'm open to the possibility that it might even turn out to be Wesley French that ends up booting Laken Tomlinson to the curb. As long as somebody does, I'm happy.

The real team is also planning to start last year's 5th rounder at center, picking up Nick Harris for depth. My view is that it's a long season and somebody is going to get hurt. So I need another interior guy who could step in and start at center, because Harris might be needed at another position. Or the youngster might not be ready, pushing Harris into the starting role leaving me needing a backup for Harris. Out of Pinter, Anderson, and French, at least one of them should be suitable for IOL depth.
