Me and my buddy had a scouting war room pros and cons between Haynes and Beebe. We both came away with a clear consensus but we took it from scratch as if we didn't have any prior opinion, just what we know we saw from tape, metrics and projections.
Oh wow. I just looked at the other draft and saw that for the second pick in a row, I got the same guy for Houston that Shane took the first time around.
Okay... I took a stab at sifting through the chain of trades that came out of Houston's trade of Deshaun Watson. And it's every bit the monster windfall you would expect, and much more. When you work your way through the maze of trades and put it all together, the short version is: Houston gave up Deshaun Watson, Brandin Cooks, and swapped their 2023 second round pick (#33) out a year and down 9 spots to a 2024 second rounder (#42). In return, they got: Kenyon Green (#15, 2022) bumped up from 68 to 44 in 2022, taking John Metchie bumped up from 80 to 75 in 2022, taking Christian Harris bumped up from 207 to 150 in 2022, taking Thomas Booker (only lasted 1 season, now in Philadelphia) bumped up from #27 in 2024 to #3 in 2023, taking Will Anderson Tank Dell (#69, 2023) Xavier Hutchinson (#205, 2023) Brandon Hill (#248, 2023) Stefon Diggs bump up 2024 third round from #90 to #86 2024 fourth round pick (#123) bump up 2024 sixth round from #203 to #188 bump up 2024 seventh round from #232 to sixth round #189 2025 fifth round pick That's just sick. (Edit = I had left out the picks being bumped up in this draft. So it's even more sick.)
This just seems like a natural pick for the Seahawks... Seattle selects Chris Braswell, EDGE, Alabama
I put some time in on that same vs. Haynes wins in the athletic department. But Beebe sure has a lot of practice pulling which is a plus, and had to play better competition quite frequently. Both might be very good
The Eagles had a pair of Elliss brothers last season before letting Christian go. To join Noah (who may or not even be here still), they bring in Jonah to replace Reddick (even with the Bryce Huff signing) who is very much looking like Reddick.
I've been very back and forth on this last pick. Might take me a tad longer. I was hoping trading back would make it easier for me but not many guys went off my shortlist.
I kept going back and forth and I like Tez way more than the average guy. The Eagles need a WR to compete for time behind the big two and the draft is also getting thin at the position so I highly doubt he'd fall any further or I'd get an alternative I'd like half as much. Also you can't say my pick was never going to be noice at 69.
Just a heads up for everyone, if you didn't notice it already on the schedule... Starting with round 4 on Friday, the pick slots move from 30 minutes to 20 minutes. We needed to do something to get the draft wrapped up in time for UDFAs and a potential Draft Challenge ahead of the real thing starting next Thursday, and the 20 minute time slot is it. We've stayed ahead of schedule so consistently in this draft that I don't think it will make any difference. But heads up that your picks will be coming at you faster in the Day 3 rounds than they did in the earlier rounds.
I'm just impressed we found a group who went 68 straight picks without even so much as a threat of an autopick. That's impressive guys. Come back next year, will ya...
