I'm stuck in the mud really. It's obvious Jones isn't the answer. But that doesn't necessarily mean McCarthy is. I get WHY people are hyping in the kid. But I haven't seen enough to be a believer yet. It's hard not to like a kid who is running 50 yards down field to throw a block for his WR though. I wanted to run this mock with the Giants moving up and taking a QB because I think it's a realistic option. And the fact that his detractors all seem to say "Zack Wilson 2.0" leads me to believe they never watched Zack Wilson or JJ McCarthy...

I still think the move the Giants WANT to make is for Maye. I don't know if it's possible or they are willing to pull it off. But if they don't love McCarthy you can't justify trading up...

The Giants have also been VERY clear that Daniel Jones, if healthy, is the week 1 starter. (They always say week 1 not just "the starter") I think they are going to make him take the beatings for a while until they are sure the line is actually improved, and with Lock you have a guy who can at least run the offense at a better level then Tommy Devito should Jones get hurt (again) or not be ready. I hope Daboll and Schoen won't try and force a 21 year old kid into the lineup just because they drafted him highly.

This touches on the "failure" that Desmond Ridder had in Atlanta. Third round rookie, pushed into the starting role at the end of his rookie year, and graded a failure because he made mistakes in year two with less than 20 career starts under his belt and a head coach that keeps going back and forth on whether he's even the starter.

I get that you have a huge investment in those first round picks and want to see returns, and I get that you only have four years before the later guys hit free agency. But in my view teams often shoot themselves in the foot by rushing these kids into situations where they have to make split-second decisions in complex schemes.

I have long speculated that situation matters at least as much as talent when it comes to the QB position. Daniel Jones never stood a chance. The Giants have been a disaster since the 2012 season basically. They have failed at protecting the passer for over a decade. They got kept trying to "win one more" with TC and Eli when it was obvious Coughlin was done. They kept him 2 years too long, then owner hired the GM's 3rd choice for HC , greenlit benching Eli and fired everybody because the fans got mad that they played Geno Smith instead of the wildly unprepared Davis Webb. Then the Gettleman years.... (A Giant beat reporter spilled some 2019 draft day tea recently. Gettleman desperately tried to trade out of the spot where he took Lawrence. He only selected Sexy Dexy because every other plan he had blew up in his face!) Even if Jones really had top 10 QB upside, which I don't think he ever did, reaching that was going to be nearly impossible with Joe Judge and Jason Garrett...

So now we sit in desperate need of a QB again. At least this time they feel like they are taking steps to be able to bring a QB along. I trust Daboll's ability to develop. Schoen has made some questionable choices but he seems to have a good process and is in alignment with his HC. (The second part is surprisingly rare with the Giants) I feel like they are at a moment when they *can* accommodate a guy like Maye or McCarthy or even a Rattler later in the draft. But if your coach is going to waffle or not commit to letting a young QB learn (either on the field or in practice whatever the strategy is) you are going to murder their careers in the cradle.

You'd think teams would look at what green Bay has done with their last 2 qb's and give them all time to develop, but this is a win now league and screw the player regardless whether he's ready or not. Not to mention a lot of teams turn over head coaches so frequently, what might have been a good decision in a previous regime, may not be the direction a new head coach is looking to take.

Not to mention, look at what Pete Carroll and his coaches were able to do with their qb's and where those players are now... Wilson the Steelers are going to get the resurrection of the Seattle days, but I'm not sure they have the fishing in place to help him or Fields. Coaching matters!!!

This makes me very glad that I had a 3 man list with 2 picks ahead of me. The last two players taken were two of the three names.

Fortunately, my #1 choice for Seattle is the one remaining. Personally, I consider all three to be roughly equal in terms of being quality prospects, with position being the main difference - Tyler Guyton would be RT or RG, Jackson Powers-Johnson would be C or G, and my selection would be LT or LG.

In theory I would normally value the guy with experience at LT slightly higher anyway, but in this case I had already tagged him as my target when I traded down because there's a very natural pipeline fit... his college OC is Pete Carroll's son. (Carroll isn't head coach anymore, but he's still looking over my shoulder here in the Seattle war room as an advisor.)

    And with that,

    Seahawks select

    Jordan Morgan, OL, Arizona

If Washington doesn't move up into 1st next week I could see this easily being the pick here at 36 next week if he is still on the board

I traded into the late 1st for him last draft. Of course the next two picks were also OL. This same 3 group of linemen went 3 in a row but the run started 5 picks sooner.

As a Washington fan think OT is a big need and its hard to see it not being one of the 36 or 40 picks or higher being trades

Do see a World where they Skip LT and sign Dj Humphries(Who knows Kingsbury system) and just Patchwork the spot with Lucas till Humphries is healthy.

SO excited to see how Peters handles this draft with 6 picks in the top 100,hopefully we get a behinds the scens draft video like the Lions and Colts put out.

I feel lucky to get him since I traded down farther than I had planned. I'm sure some people would say I made a bad trade, but in the end I got away with it and got the ideal Seahawks fit anyway. Pure luck on that part of it.

Okay I did technically accept this but I think there is an issue here. #160 from our talks was meant to be #128 and I think he wrote the wrong pick. @Silver&black can you get back to me?

The Steelers are restructuring TJ Watt and Alex Highsmith to free up nearly 13 million in cap room.

The Steelers, in turn, are acquiring Courtland Sutton from the Denver Broncos for pick 98 (3(34))

After bringing in Tee Higgins in rd 1, the chargers weren't planning on drafting another WR as early as this, but here we are. He's there, and is the BPA on my board and trade up offers were too low in value for me to pass on Troy Franklin, WR, Oregon Ducks
