I'm completely gobsmacked. Nothing makes sense anymore...

Which of the new Bears are you all looking at with great anticipation?

    Oh man...
Is no one interested in talking about this?

Hi, Babyfan... I'll chime in... just passing by and seen this post. The obvious answer, imo, is if they draft Caleb Williams #1 which is the nearly 100% consensus, he will be what all eyes are on. The next pick is fun too, but with the drafting of Williams, I'll definitely be curious week in and week out what he brings to the Bears and the NFL level.

    gobsmacked, lol.

Now everyone can chime in... and I won't be so gobsmacked :boss:

    I'm such a failure as a moderator/ football fan.

Okay this is the last thread I'm going to create for at least a day or two.
    Maybe.

This post doesn't make sense to me, what are you talking about baby? We have a touch under 2 weeks to the draft, and Williams is the known likely pick at #1, and we've talked about who we're looking at with 9 and potentially a trade back. Not much else to say until draft time, IMO.

I can't believe how divided and stupid we are as a fanbase. I like Fields but it was clear he wasn't the guy, and now we have an opportunity to draft one of the highest-rated prospects in quite some time so you have to take a swing.
I'm more concerned with the hip drop tackle personal foul and how and when that will be applied. The rule is vague and subjective, and if there ever was any truth that the NFL is trying to control outcomes this rule can make that easy.

I have personally become addicted to mock draft simulations. I use the Pro Football Network as I find it gives the most balanced trades and rankings and it’s free. Besides the obvious C. Williams I am looking forward to seeing Keenan Allen in a Bears uniform.

    Good point.
Have I been so isolated in this country of Canadia that I have forgotten how to communicate efficiently? I have...

Who is the MOST exciting draftee/drafter or whatever they are called that you are MOST excited about?

I'm not sure if that makes sense either.

    Jaysus.

Ah, then it's Williams without question. The Bears have never taken a QB this highly touted. Mitch is the closest, but even then Mongo wanted Mahomes and others of us were in on Watson. There will not be videos of legions of Bears fans upset about Williams draft, I think. Even those that love Justin still understand this is a move they have to make. After the draft and we see if we trade down, or who we get, maybe that changes but I don't think it will. Our future is in the hands of Caleb now.

Yeah, I was in the Watson camp, and I considered Mahomes closer to the second-tier QB prospects than the first.

Yeah its obvious but its Williams for me. The guy will be next level in terms of talent if nothing else. No one here has ever seen seen anything like it in a Bears uniform their whole lives, not even bww and he was watching football when they played in leather hats. Other than that i will be interested to see just how good/bad the Poles' darling new C is. If he stinks it will cement the fact Poles is the worst OL evaluator we've ever seen in a GM, something that should be impossible given what came before him.

Yep just an idiotic new rule. So so bad. Officials are already forced to be far too much of the story so they consciously make a decision that will exacerbate that even further. The NFL is well on its way to having less credibility of outcome than a US Presidential election. They are killing their own cash cow in slow motion and everyone can see it but them.

Yes its def the best one and i too have spent way too much time on it ha. Tbh tho i was doing that more towards the end of the season and just after. Its less fun when you dont trade away the 1st pick and there's no reason to trade away the 1st pick anymore.

Mitch is the highest drafted, but personally i've got Cutler as the most talented QB the Bears have ever had to date. Cutler had an incredibly gifted arm. Did you see that interview with Brandon Marshall the other month? Someone was asking him who the biggest under-achiever QB was iho and he said Cutler! Given the beef they've had and some of the huge busts there've been over the years it would be easy to write off statement. But his point was Cutler was enormously talented. He said he could've been a multiple SB winner and basically it was work ethic that stopped him having the career he could've had and objectively speaking i think he was completely correct.

I too was in the Watson camp with tuna. In our defense Watson would've been an incredibly solid hit, at least in terms of on the field. Sure he turned into a scumbag off the field but as an evaluator its very hard to legislate for that. Unless the Texans missed some big red flags in the background checks but i've never read anything to say they did.

Re-racking my brain, I'm inclined to agree. Mitch had a couple of people saying he was the #1 QB. Most believed it was Watson, myself included. TradeCade.com McNown was taken 12th, he was the 5th QB taken in the 98 draft. Rex was the 4th QB taken in 03. Honorable mentions, Fields too.

The draft cannot get here fast enough.

There will be douche contrarians who will be pissy no matter what. Most rational fans know, are aware of, and understand when you're planning to draft a QB in the 1st round, obviously--you want first crack at multiple 1st round capable QBs. The bears have that this year, and now 2x in 7 years, including 2017.

And what I love about this board, is that none of you guys are going full retard suggesting that after holding the nose and taking Caleb at 1, trade up from 9 for a WR! That's the new 'bears' idea these days, and it's just pathetic. Fans want to see a WR go top 10, just because in 2 years (if Poles does nothing) they won't have either Keenan Allen or DJ Moore under contract! Drafting a guy in the top 10 for 2 years from now when the OL is bottom 10 and the DL doesn't have anybody who can get home after Sweat is just something a stupid football team does. Or detroit.

And furthermore, I appreciate y'all because it's damned impossible to talk bears with people who are incapable of fathoming 'gray areas.' Like, the question of #9. If you dig around, you'll find fans who can't grasp the concept that at 9, there may be a big trade down opportunity, or there may not be. Be prepared to pull the trigger and get more picks if someone has to have someone at 9, and also--be prepared to take someone depending on how 2-8 unfolds. Could even be 2-7 unfolding, because Atlanta is being investigated for tampering with Kirk Cousins, and they may lose their 1st depending on how egregious. Per an NBCSN article a couple of days ago, the punishment should be official before the draft based on how the NFL handled the Jonathan Gannon tampering situation between Arizona and Philly a year or two back and that timeline.

I'm less inclined at this point with this team to trade out of the top of the round because quantity doesn't equal quality when it comes to drafting a highly touted prospect especially one who is in a position of need, and the trenches are still suspect with this team. While I wouldn't necessarily be upset if they drafted a WR because it would be the first time in my lifetime they would have a serious like a heart attack corp of WR's on this team, and they will likely need them if the defensive line can't get home, or the offensive line can't protect the QB. I don't have too much confidence in Poles the man that brought us Jones and Scott to find one later, but I do know if he does, Jones will be one step closer to the door, and alone that makes me smile.
