@nybites if the real draft plays out the way the collaborated draft is going, hopefully you can trade back and get more draft capital, otherwise, looks like you have your choice of whom you would like to select, and it looks like a bunch of them are there.

I'm thinking Cooper DeJean is going to be moving up draft charts if he test out on April 8th like I think he will, talk of running 4.3's. Especially returning from the broken leg. Kid was being talked about as being the 1st CB off the draft boards prior to his injury. Everyone else got to benefit from senior bowl and combine hype, where I think DeJean suffered more of the out of site out of mind fall. Plus, he'll have the benefit of most recent impression on evaluators. Curious who the Steelers will send to his Pro day.

I think an area scout for Iowa. Think SEC and ACC for the pick at 20.
I traded back in the collaborative 3 OT's still sitting there. Plus another player of interest.

Duke is in the ACC I was deflecting snipers

    23. Graham
Barton OL DUKE was the pick. 2 weeks free m now if Kahn finds a Center I’d have gone Mims or Fuagua

Funny Eagles selected Mims, but they also just signed their tackle to an extension. I’m not sure if that’s the route they’ll go in the draft now.

@nybites was your pick going to be if Mims was still there?

Actually I have Talise Fuagua rated higher, that would have been my pick. Plug and play RT. Mims has the biggest upside, and highest potential to be the next bust. What would help though is that he is really good friends with Broderick Jones who helped him train for the combine. Side note on Mims, he only played 8 games because of the talent on Georgia, had to wait his turn. His ankle injuries were dudes rolling up on him. The combine 40 hamstring, bad luck, and when do these guys ever run 40 yards full tilt.

also curious why you didn't sign up for the collaborative, lots of fun, frustration, and banter over there. We lost a good one in Quew777 he always took the lions. He and I chatted on CBS way back in 2009, but over the years I think he saw me more of a comedian than a draft guru. I love the draft, but I don't take it so seriously I lose sleep at night. I guessed a bunch of stuff wrong and got called out on it. I am cheap and don't pay for ourlads, I know beachbum312 pays or payed for Wexell. I allocate my funds to other areas. It's all good, I read A TON, probably 4-5 hours a day on draft topics this time of year, probably 5 hours a week in the off season

watched a good show on NFL network last night, they went into the Cardinals war room and watched them move back, up, trade, making calls, calling in for approval. Kinda neat to see how it actually works. And one year later I am still calling BULLSHIT on the Jets being locked in on Will McDonald IV. Their phoneswere dead, they looked bewildered after the Broderick Jones pick. Imagine if they had taken Anton Harrison, maybe, just maybe Rodgers plays a full season. Look at what they got at 15, a pass rusher with 3.0 sacks. Shit, The Steelers got that with their 4th OLB rookie in Nick Herbig taken 117 picks later. Put that in your Gang Green pipe and smoke it Joe Douglass.

Crazy draft on Depot, Scott Pavelle always takes dudes he has not taken in previous mocks, so take it with a grain of salt

    htps://steelersdepot.com/2024/04/pavelle-mock-draft-4-0-after-free-agency/

I have no problem with Fantanu.
Polk is a good player, there are 5WR in the pick 51 range, it's like an ice cream store, pick your flavor. I will not get into who I like until after the collaborative draft.
Max Melton at 84 I think that is a pipe dream and I will say it now no fucking way is he there.
Hunter Nourad OC Penn State. I guess he can develop but I think it's too early @ 98 and no idea why nobody likes Bortolini, maybe not enough sand in the pants.
T'Yron Hopper ILB meh I have Tyrice Knight ahead of him.
Anias Smith WR Texas A&M ST value . I have a sleeper WR for pick 178 which I will devulge later.
Sione Vaika Safety Utah good value here. Initially I liked Proctor in this spot, but he has not tested well and might even go UFD.

    7 rounds lots to read.
JPJ over Barton that is a good debate. Depends on how you think. Versatility, experience, braun, arm length, lots of points to be made.
Mike Sainristill at 51 is a bit early., passing on Franklin and Pearsall when they need a WR2.
Brenden Rice ok not bad, but you need a CB if you pass on Sainristil. Renardo Green still available. This mock pushes CBs wicked early, not sure how the real draft plays out.
Blake Fisher, at the end of round 3 you get a decent OT, not bad but passing on Cedric Gray another good debate.
Tykee Smith pretty good value at 119. looks like the CB pool ran dry here.,
Jordan Magee LB, I would probabaly look at DT, Crumedy comes to mind.
Tory Taylor. P Iowa WTF dude, Steelers signed a punter. Sione Vaki was available and they need a Safety at some point.,

There is another way of thinking in this draft. day 3, who can play Special Teams. You need dudes who can run and hit, fearless maniacs. But you need smart guys too who can do what Danny Smith is telling them. I like the Cordarelle Patterson signing. Depot is still high on Tommy Eichenberg, man I watched some OSU games, he is not special at all. Anyone old enough to remember Orphues Roye on kickoffs. WE NEED ANOTHER DUDE LIKE THAT.

I was so tempted especially seeing so many people having to draft for multiple teams, I know there’s talk about doing another one after this one ends, if they do, I think I’ll jump in and embarrass myself, reach out to me for some amazing trade value if I get a early draft pick… …. Wouldn’t actually do it, just so you know, wouldn’t want to destroy the draft and fun it seems like everyone is having

Sure I can help. Any Steeler fan interested in the draft I will give my perspective whatever it's worth.
My patience on Depot is wearing thin with the downvoting and the holier than thou posters. I consider this my home base, but over the years too many Steeler fans left for greater pastures or lost interest. Draft day is my Christmas, I actually don't even like Christmas anymore, too commercial and everyone gets a fucking gift card.

So as most of you saw I took Xavier Legette, Big WR will be able to block for RBs, team first guy. Dude is 220 lbs. and ran a 4.39. and he only had 2 drops in 2023. Not a perfect prospect, not polished, but some clay to mold.

My best comp for him is a taller version of Deebo Samuel. Get the ball in his hands in space and he will go to work. Huge upside guy with a higher floor than a lot of the other WRs in this class

If Pittsburgh goes OT, I am pretty sure it will be Mims or Latham. As dominating a blocker and overall mauler Fuagua is, his wingspan is a piper cub. Mims is a fucking B-52. Latham he's your standard Boeing 727. The issue with Latham, even with Saban's coaching was his propensity to draw flags. This is the reason Dotson was traded, he was a good player, but made dumb mistakes. When it comes down to it Mims has the biggest upside and the biggest frame. If Troy Fantanu is there at 20, I am not convinced his arm length measures up for OT, it's marginal. I think Fantanu is talented but the knock on him is he is a better pass blocker than run blocker, with Arthur Smith, that has to knock him down a peg. His position flexibility. OT/OG is a good topic for debate. My argument on that is don't the Steelers already have Spencer Anderson? Granted a 7th round pick, but Meyer saw enough in him to keep him on the 53. All good stuff to talk over before pick 20 comes up on April 25th.

I’m a giant fan of Mims, not sure how quickly he starts, but I think the ceiling on him is worth the risk. I wasn’t really sure how big a fan until he got picked before us in the collaborative mock.

I like Latham, except for I’m weary of the track record of Alabama OL. Too many misses and not really sure why. When in Alabama, they all seem great, then they make it to the pros and fizzle out. I really wish they could coax Muchak back to work his magic with our line. I think if he were there, our line would be a beast.

I’m looking over the OL prospects, and it seems like a lot of RT or Unsure position OL being selected. I don’t recall a draft where so many of those were selected in the 1st round.
If I’m seeing it correctly, there’s only 2 true LT prospects, with the majority of them being RT. If that’s the way the teams actually see it, I’m thinking some of them are going to fall further than being mocked. Yes you need a good RT, but I’m not seeing the normal value high, last years RT picks are expected to be moved to the left side, I don’t see that with this class.
