The Minnesota Vikings have added more draft ammunition. The Vikings and Houston Texans have agreed to a trade that nets Minnesota an additional 2024 first-round pick, NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported on Friday, per sources informed of the pact. In the deal, the Vikings acquired the No. 23 overall pick in the first round and the No. 232 selection (seventh round). The Texans get No. 42 overall (second round), No. 188 (sixth round), and a second-round pick in 2025, per Rapoport and Pelissero. Minnesota has since announced the trade. Making the move 41 days before the draft opens signals that it could be step one of a multi-phase process as the Vikings stalk their next quarterback. The trade is reminiscent of 2016, when the Philadelphia Eagles did a double-jump to move from No. 13 overall to No. 2 to draft Carson Wentz -- first trading to No. 8 (Miami), then packaging that improved selection to Cleveland for the second pick. Friday's trade gives the Vikings two first-round picks in 2024, No. 11 overall and No. 23 overall, which they could use to maneuver for a quarterback. After Kirk Cousins departed for Atlanta, the Vikings inked Sam Darnold to a one-year contract. The club is in play to find a long-term solution at the position. Getting another first-rounder gives the Vikings ammo, regardless of how things shake out. NFL.com
The Vikings lost interior offensive lineman Austin Schlottmann to the Giants earlier Friday. They replaced him Friday night. Minnesota announced an agreement with guard/center Dan Feeney. Feeney, 29, has appeared in 112 games with 65 starts. He most recently played for the Bears, appearing in 16 games last season with one start. He entered the NFL in 2017 as a third-round pick of the Chargers and started 57 of the 63 games he played in his first four seasons. Feeney spent 2021 and 2022 with the Jets, playing in 33 games with seven starts.
Well KJ Osborn is with Patriots now, what do you think of KJ Osborn replacement let it be Troy Franklin of Oregon check out his highlights he has pretty good hands and he's very fast HOPE the Vikings draft him
Franklin would be awesome if he's available. The guy was a TD machine last season with 14 and around 1300 yards receiving. Maybe they snag Bo Nix in the Draft and real in Franklin with the 2nd pick (Minnesota Ducks). By the way, Nix had nearly a 75% COMp and was also a TD machine.
The Vikings would have one of best IMO triple threats in the NFL Justin Jefferson Jordan Addison and Troy Franklin cause who you gonna guard and you cannot forget about TJ Hockenson this would give another team DC nightmares....Minnesota Ducks State Bird is the Common Loon kinda like it laughing
Report: Vikings to have private workout with J.J. McCarthy next week Vikings General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah said on Monday that the team has a “preferred scenario” in mind for the draft after last week’s trade to acquire a second first-round pick and it would not come as a surprise if we were to learn that scenario involves a quarterback. The team is set to get a close look at one possible addition at the position next week. Albert Breer of SI.com reports that the team will be watching J.J. McCarthy work out a couple of times. Quarterbacks coaches Josh McCown and Grant Udinski are set to be at Michigan’s Pro Day on March 22 and Breer reports that Adofo-Mensah and head coach Kevin O’Connell are set to travel to Ann Arbor for a private workout with the Wolverines standout. Consensus wisdom has Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye ranked as the top three quarterbacks in this year’s draft and they are seen as good bets to go with the first three picks. McCarthy is a popular choice at No. 4 and the Vikings could have designs on using their two picks to get high enough to make sure J.J. is throwing passes to a different J.J. during his rookie season.
Im glad the Vikings are taking a close look at McCarthy... there's a lot of chatter about the Vikings drafting him, but they can go another direction if needed. Some say JJ is the better made Pro NFL type passer based on the offensive scheme played in Michigan, but what the hell do they know anyways, lol? McCarthy had a solid line and it was a run first type game they played, but he can drop the ball on a dime when called upon (speaking of run, IF RB, Blake Corum is available in latter rounds of the draft, pick him... I've seen him a lot and he can play). Some of the more wild scenarios I've seen have the Vikings trading way up to snag QB Maye... I say dream on, ive been a Vikings fan too long to have very high expectations. Tell you one thing - If the Vikings dont go QB in the 1st round...
JJ McCarthy just seems like a KOC QB,the Vikings need à dynamic rb I will look at his highlights cause i no nothing about Blake Corum
I'm watching highlights of Blake Corum this guy is faster than you think, how he just explosive going into line he's a tough guy Blake the Great of the Amazing Blue the Vikings could use a rb with speed
He's a little guy, but what Ive seen of him he has an instinct to slash and dart through gaps at just the right time.
The Vikings have agreed to a one-year deal with a maximum value of $6 million with cornerback Shaq Griffin, Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report reports. The Vikings will be Griffin’s fifth team in eight years, having played four seasons with the Seahawks and two with the Jaguars before splitting time with the Texans and Panthers last season. Houston cut him Nov. 29, and Carolina claimed him off waivers. He made 13 game appearances with seven starts in 2023, totaling 39 tackles, one interception and five pass breakups. Griffin, 28, was a third-round pick of the Seahawks in 2017, and he made the Pro Bowl in 2019. In his career, Griffin has 366 tackles, seven interceptions, 64 passes defensed and a forced fumble.
That shouldn't be a problem Dalvin Cook wasn't all that big, after Alexander Mattison, they need someone that catch screen passes cause the Vikings run game was AWEFUL last year he's a rb the Vikings could use
Kwesi-Adofo-Mensah Loves the one year contracts just wondering will he sign Justin Jefferson to a multi year contract?
The Vikings have added a pair of linebackers. According to multiple reports, Minnesota has signed Jihad Ward and agreed to terms with Kamu Grugier-Hill. Ward, 29, spent the last two seasons with the Giants, playing all 17 games in each season. He was on the field for 59 percent of defensive snaps in 2023, recording 5.0 sacks, five tackles for loss, and nine QB hits. Grugier-Hill, 29, appeared in all 17 games with five starts for the Panthers in 2023. He finished with 56 total tackles, an interception, a sack, and two tackles for loss. He was on the field for 38 percent of defensive snaps and 67 percent of special teams snaps.
Looking like the Vikings will draft JJ McCarthy Kwesi-Adofo-Mensah better nail this draft and get some good players
