Well there is also replacing 1-2 year contracts but that seems to be a no anyways.

In which case, the new owner would still have the option of retaining them at the end of next season though extension by completing a trade after this window.

I get it. I'm just a little disappointed that I can't find better ways to use my extensions. Also one last question (I hope). If you work on a trade to get a player with a forced extension or tag can you extend either of them with a contract and can you trade for any non-0 player as part of the deal or does it have to be picks only?

Good questions and keep them coming because it helps to clarify everything both in the short and long term for anyone that is following the discussion.

If you make a deal for a player that has forced renegotiation that you would like to extend the contract of, and have not used all of your extensions, that player would be under contract for your roster prior to the deadline and you would have the ability to extend him.

Tagged players cannot be traded until they are forced to sign the tag, which is the deadline on the 13th. If a team wants to trade a tagged player during the open window for other owners to make bids on tagged player, they have the right to do so, but tagged players will be playing on the one-year deal.

One more thing that shouldn't get lost in the details - If you trade for a player with a renegotiated contract then choose to extend him you will still be subject to the increased cap hit that comes with extension. Meaning, you not only are trading and taking on the increased contract but are also increasing their contract equal with the percentage that the extension demands.

And if you can, can they be extended?

So long as that player is on your roster prior to the end of the open window then you would be able to extend him.

And trades are not limited in any capacity so long as they are working with at least one player that is eligible and there are no players not currently under contract involved.

Similar idea, If I wanted to extend McBride, who is on forced renegotiation, how does it work mathematically? Also how does the Franchise tagging work exactly with the math. It's written a little ambiguously, or at least it's written in a way I don't think is right but maybe I'm wrong.

It's the average of the top 3 contracts plus 10% of that average in the first year.

Players that are on forced renegotiation are not eligible for extension unless you trade for them during the open window.

If they are currently on your roster, all you can do is agree to the increased cash with the current amount of remaining years.

If you trade for them, you would get them at their forced renegotiation rate. Then, if you choose to extend them, you would get the additional percentage increase for the extension.

Okay it was ambiguous. "1st year - Player costs plus 10% of the average of the top 3 paid players at his position". It's done how I expected it though.
Maybe "1st year - Player costs the average of the top 3 paid players at his position plus 10%"
Just me but it did make me ask lol.

So my extensions are even more useless now? I was thinking of extending McBride despite his asking for more. I figured he'd happily take a raise and then get added ears with an extra bump?

Nope, you'll have to extend him at the end of next season.

Looking at your roster - I'm seeing a lot of different ways you could approach it where those extensions help you going into 2025, and possibly 2026, if you are working them correctly.

I mean I can't carry extensions over so I'll have to extend some guys I may not want to or not use them.

So in a few weeks well get a complete list of forced negotiations fr every team? I have mine but I'd obviously like to see if I have the opportunity to deal for one or something.

The complete list of players forcing negotiations is already posted, so owners can start making decisions anytime they want.

Just check the top of that thread.

Okay. And last thing, 0 year guys cannot be traded no matter what right?

    Correct.

Hi Tim... Thought Id drop this here. After spending a few days going over my roster to determine whom Im keeping/extending, etc... I noticed Richie Grant - DB, is listed on my roster according to the 2024 Roster charts. Im not sure if thats a big deal or not, just curious if it effects my over-all Cap Space or not, curious if it effects my money situation at all and I definitely dont want him on my roster this year. I guess he is a Free Agent at the moment.

BTW - I dropped him on SEPT 26th and Silver n Black picked him up.

    Hey @Campbell
Congrats first of all. Well drafted team deserved a year 1 glory tour.
So I butchered my initial draft a little. Then learned a cheap-ish lesson early about how to handle cuts.
I was busy enough in my 7 other leagues and Dadding/working that I sort of half-ass started my retooling mid-season. I'm playing catch up now. So I have maybe a couple questions.

I found one error I believe. Just did the math on my cap penalties for cuts/trades. Looks like my cut of Van Jefferson got double counted. He's listed twice and I added all eight cuts and one trade that should have penalized me, and came to $4,851 by our leagues math. If I double count Jefferson I get the number $5,931 which is listed in my spreadsheet for 2024 "Previous Dead Money".

Also I noticed your link for 2024 League Calendar in the messages on FleaFlicker isn't linked properly. The one on homepage does, maybe it doesn't matter but thought I'd point it out.

    New Questions:
So the league is in off-season; can I still cut players from my taxi without any cap penalty? Cut others now? Or have to wait?

Also a quick question on trade caps. So I traded for Devin White. His cap started at 7,000. It became $5,950 on my roster after trade. If I resigned him, the raise would incur against the $7,000 right?

This one might be dumb, but explain the rollover to me again. Is that a "Commissioner's discretion" thing and you landed at $190,000 as a suitable year one total? I just want to make sure I understand my league math, cap math so I can be a more competitive player in years 2/3 than I turned out to be in year 1.

Do we already know what the year 2 salary cap is going to be?

Lastly, thanks for all your hard work on this league. It is very unique and will probably be very fun going forward. Just a big learning curve for most of us with opportunities to err. I'm very intrigued about free agency.

Sorry, feel like I'm working you hard here. But in my 2024 Contracts guys I have cut like J.Bates, J.Baker, VanJ are all gone.
But more recent cuts like Joshua Kelley and Isaiah Spiller are still showing. Just fyi, I don't know if it matters.

They appear to be the only two, for now. I have at least a couple more cuts coming once I know I'm allowed. Got distracted late in the year and didn't quite finish cleaning house.
