Does anyone here have the feeling that Tomlin will try to play Pickett next week? Rudolph looks better than him and definitely better than Trubisky
Rudolph made it look like we have an nfl offense but if pickett is healthy he will be the starter next week. What today says to me is that Rudolph should have been the starter last season. Then maybe he plays the whole season and pickett gets to watch and learn. Would it have made a differnce in pickett development? We will never know. What i do know is despite his record Pickett does not look like the guy. I know there is a large group of fans still lovong the pickett pick and still thinking he is the man but i cant help but think those same pickett backers would be absolutely drilling ravens, browns or bengals fans if he were playing for them and had the exact same stats and record.
I honestly don’t know what to think, he’s had really good moments and then not so good moments. I do know we potentially have 5 years if they pick up the option. So they definitely won’t give up on a QB they drafted in the 1st round after 1 3/4 years. I would like to see some competition brought in for him.
The fact that Rudolph has half of Picketts TD total after one game, albeit as you said in the game thread against a weaker defense, is pretty telling. Pickett did not pass the eye test this season. Extenuating circumstances perhaps, but if Rudolph gets the start Sunday and has another good game, no way should Pickett be handed the starting job next season. Obviously that means re-signing Rudolph who should have a hotter market. Pickett has the clutch thing going for him, but he’s also a major reason he was in those clutch situations and not comfortably ahead. Considering the circumstances, I don’t hate the Pickett pick. Wasn’t a fan of it at the time, but understood the selection. Maybe if they get a competent OC and maybe a new OL coach Pickett can develop into a quality starting QB. But for now Rudolph should be the starter to close out the season. If Pickett is healthy enough, should be the number two with Trubisky the emergency #3
Trubisky should be the guy that brings Gatorade out to the players during time outs. Of course, he'd probably drop it or accidentally give it to the other team.
Good: a huge win and a sweep. Currently 4-1 in the division . Rudolph, Pickens, Warren, watt, Highsmith. DLine Make shift safeties other than the 80 yarder to Higgins Bad: OT’s had a bad day Ugly: Harvin , injury to Roberts not gluing Porter to Higgins beyond Ugly: 2 bimbos that are “fantasy experts” telling me how to bet on yesterdays games. One of which was Pat Friermuth getting over 2,5 catches. Was He was even targetted? . Gambling is ruining football with these ads dominating the airwaves. There will be thousands of young adults becoming addicted to this shit and dig a financial hole they’ll never recover from. I’m glad I can watch football without being sucked into this trap and even happier I have financial stability and responsibillity.
Agreed. You have another season to figure it out and Pickett is cheap. The Rooney are not bringing in Kirk Cousins and throwing 250 million dollars at him.
More good: Steelers were on NBC not freaking Peacock. I mean 5.99 a month for what ? At Least with Prime I get free shipping and some really great shows like Reacher. If a miracle happens and Pittsburgh makes the wild card and they put the game on Peacock I’m going to Lose my shit.
Fucking preach. Hard to watch football with my kid when I have to constantly tell him that gambling is bad. Fucking awful.
Where’s beach to give us the all-22 and tell us how much better Trubisky is than Rudolph and every other quarterback in the league?
The bad: all the tomlin supporters saying how this game proved he needs to stay and that all the nay sayers are wrong on its time to move on from him. Even if you dont thin Mason should be the starter this game proved he should at the least be the back up. For 2 years he and most fans have acted like Mason was just lucky to be on the team yet he is the only one in a regular season game to make our offense look like a big boy offense. The win vs the Bengals game was great but it doesnt excuse the loses to the Pats and Cards where the team looked likemthey didnt even know they had a game. Lot of talk how Tomlin circled the wagons after 3 game losing streak what if the Steelers playing with fire had more to domwith Tyler Boyds comments than tomlin getting them ready. The Ugly: pickett fans saying 1 that he was playing good before he got hurt. He had 6 td passes people. Their excuse for that he leads them down and they run the ball in for the score. 7 rushing Td by the team when he was leading the offense. Thats a grand total of 13 offensive TDs in 12 games. They reason Mason looked good because he was throwing to wide open WRs. Like they have not been open when pickett was playing and he just didnt get them the ball. Im really not sure which is worse the blind Tomlin loyalty or the Picket hero worshiping.
I want to see Rudolph leading our offense the rest of the season. The way he played the last game is the way we would have to play to do anything in the playoffs if we made it. We got a boatload of help yesterday but still need a shipping container more, but Rudolph looked good enough to make some noise if we made it.
Sure could use Robert Spillane about now put a fork in KC they’re done . They let too Much talent walk
This statement really makes me feel good, if it's correct (I suspect it is). A real QB puts this team a lot closer to being a real competitor. The D is pretty good when healthy and they can run the ball too. There are upgrades out there at QB but I suspect we're stuck with Kenny.
My concern in regards to Rudolph is, he does well the last two games and because Baltimore has nothing to play for, they win both games, thus giving Tomlin another “winning” season, and how he’s the greatest head coach. Then add in, they severely either over pay for Rudolph to be a backup or lose him in free agency and we’re stuck with Trebisky, ie how the Giants overpaid for Daniel Jones, thinking he “was” the man. No I don’t think they’ll remotely come close to that $$$ amount.
