Its really bad when the ref says this - "referee Brad Allen told a pool reporter after the game that officials saw “no material restriction” to the receiver on the play." That statement alone says the NFL needs big changes.

Monday Night Football: Jaguars lose Trevor Lawrence in fourth quarter, game in OT to Bengals

The Bengals already lost their starting quarterback, Joe Burrow, on Nov. 16 to a wrist injury that required surgery. The Jaguars lost their starting quarterback with 5:25 remaining in the fourth quarter on Monday night when Trevor Lawrence injured his ankle.

Lawrence couldn’t put any weight on the right ankle as he was helped off the field with the assistance of two athletic trainers.

Monday Night Football ended with backup quarterbacks Jake Browning and C.J. Beathard battling for the win in one of the most exciting games of the season.

They went to overtime before Cincinnati kicker Evan McPherson made a 48-yard field goal with 1:45 remaining in overtime to give the Bengals a 34-31 upset win.

The Jaguars fell to 8-4, while the Bengals improved to 6-6.

The teams exchanged field goals in the final three minutes of the fourth quarter. McPherson gave the Bengals a brief 31-28 lead with a 54-yarder before Jaguars kicker Brandon McManus made a 40-yarder with 26 seconds left in the fourth quarter to tie the game for the fifth time and send it to overtime. McManus missed a 48-yarder wide right on the snap after Lawrence’s injury.

The Jaguars took the overtime kickoff and moved to the Cincinnati 45, where they faced third-and-seven. Beathard threw a 50-50 pass to Calvin Ridley, who caught it for a 43-yard gain to the 2-yard line. The play, though, was negated by a holding penalty on rookie offensive tackle Anton Harrison.

The Bengals got the ball back at their own 28 with 5:01 left and drove 42 yards in 12 plays to set up the game-winner.

Browning starred in his second career start, completing 32 of 37 passes for 354 yards and a touchdown. He also had a 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. Ja’Marr Chase caught 11 passes for 149 yards and a touchdown.

Joe Mixon ran for 68 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries and caught six passes for 49 yards.

The Bengals had 491 yards to 376 for the Jaguars.

Lawrence was 22-of-29 for 258 yards and two touchdowns and also ran for a touchdown before leaving. Beathard went 9-of-10 for 63 yards. Tight end Evan Engram caught nine passes for 82 yards and a touchdown.

It was a bad night for the Jaguars, who, besides Lawrence, also lost Christian Kirk (groin) and cornerback Tre Herndon (concussion) to injuries.

Beathard grabbed his left wrist following a 7-yard run on his first play but remained in the game.

Ja’Marr Chase says he wanted to be “disrespectful” to Jaguars with touchdown celebration

Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase began his celebration before he crossed the goal line on his 76-yard touchdown catch on Monday night, turning all the way around and looking at the Jaguars defenders who were hopelessly chasing him. Afterward, he said he wanted to be disrespectful.

Bengals quarterback Jake Browning, who threw the pass, said Chase told him that afterward.

“I saw him turning around near the goal line, and I was thinking, ‘Why is he turning around?’ He said it was because he was being disrespectful,” Browning said.

Chase confirmed to reporters after the game that he knew going in that his mindset was going to be showing a lack of respect to the Jaguars.

“I said I was gonna do some asshole shit — excuse my profanity,” Chase said. “I was going to be a jerk today. . . . I just felt like being an evil person today.”

Chase said the Jaguars got what was coming to them by thinking a cornerback could cover him man-to-man.

“Straight man. No help,” Chase said of the Jaguars’ coverage.

Chase caught 11 of the 12 passes thrown to him on Monday night, gaining 149 yards and scoring that big touchdown, and he said the Bengals wanted to show that they’re still contenders even without Joe Burrow.

“We still can play Cincinnati football,” Chase said. “We showed that today.”

I just saw an artical on my phone. Couldn't get it to open, but it said something about Kamera going to the Chiefs in some big trade. Anyone else hear that?

Christian Kirk to miss time with core muscle injury

The Jaguars are waiting to see if quarterback Trevor Lawrence will be able to go this week after suffering a high-ankle sprain in Monday night’s overtime loss to the Bengals, but they are planning for any quarterback to be without one member of the receiving corps.

Wideout Christian Kirk left early in Monday’s game and head coach Doug Pederson told reporters on Tuesday that Kirk will miss some time with a core muscle injury that will likely require surgery. The Jaguars face the Browns in Week 14 and then face the Ravens, Buccaneers, Panthers, and Titans.

Kirk had one catch for 26 yards on Monday. He has 57 catches for 787 yards and three touchdowns for the season.

Parker Washington had six catches for 61 yards and a touchdown against Cincinnati after not catching a pass in his first three games, so it seems likely that he’ll continue to have a role in the offense with Kirk out of action.

What does the blue and pink shading signify?

    Notes:
    • Houston and Cincinnati are key games for the playoffs, win both and it boosts the Browns chances to play extra game(s). Lose either and the tiebreakers become even muddier
    • The Denver loss could bite us
    • Not playing Buffalo hurts, but their schedule is brutal
    • Without Pickett, can the Steelers score enough points to win games, count me as one that doesn't believe in Trubiski

I'm going to venture a prediction that the Browns finish 10-7, I'm not sure if that gets them to the playoffs. I think it should, but you never know. Regardless, I don't see them making much of a splash in the post season anyway. It would still be fun to watch an extra game, or possibly even two.

Trade deadline came and went.. unless they are talking next off season, it isn't happening.

I hate seeing player injuries, but with the Browns secondary, if both Lawrence and Kirk are sidelined, it would help the Browns this weekend. Let them back in week 15...

The Chiefs added DE Azur Kamara to their team, not Alvin.

The rumor of Alvin Kamara to the Chiefs is a rumor and speculation by a couple of sports sites (not top dog sites, like Fox or ESPN, etc, etc) that are talking about after the season and IF the Saints blow things up and start a rebuild. Kamara's negative comments about the team are probably whats fueled those speculative ideas, but they are just ideas being tossed around.

AFC or NFC. That has a significant bearing on tie breakers.

Wouldn't be a whole lotta compensation in that kind of trade with Alvin's contract. Teams would rather wait until he's is released. His 2024 salary isn't ideal. His 2025 salary is non-negotiable.

Depends on the state. In the deep south, the DB would be registered as a sex offender.

    This is GREAT!

I'll throw in Tampa as another contender in the NFC, since there are four also-rans listed in the AFC vs only 3 for the NFC. The NFC South teams all have one more full run through the division, and the top three are all within one game of each other. It's going to be a brutal slugfest to end the season, and the Saints-Falcons finale might be the equivalent of a playoff game.
