Finally Fields just didn't overthink it and threw it downfield.

Good for Fields to get a road win after almost screwing the pooch. This staff is holding everyone back. How much is Fields being held back? When you have that many screens and short passes that is game design by coaches not fields checking it down or anything. It makes the margin for error so small.

I assume its a children's coloring book where the child sucks at staying inside the lines, or even being symmetrical. Like when a parent immediately sees it, they have to consider another hobby for their child because being an artist sure as shit isn't in the future.

Pretty awful comment ;) but at the same so completely understandable.

As soon as Fields stepped up and fired that pass that Moore ended up catching to put us in FG, as soon as he released the ball I knew it was going to end well. That's the type of throw he fails to make over and over again, doesn't trust himself and usually ends up running around for a while before the play ends badly. Good that he finally did it in crunch time.

Yeah when he immediately steps forward at the end of his dropback and delivers a throw with conviction it's usually a very good result.

The problem is we see those throws so very little of the time.

    - In what world does Cole Kmet look like a guy you throw a WR screen to? On the first fucking play of the game. Thats what you do, you come out and start the game with that. I've really come to despise Luke Getsy, because the guy is total fucking fraud and he's only here cos he sat in the same room with Erin. I didn't hate Frodo this much. Frodo was an uninspired turd and we all knew he was an uninspired turd. Hell even he probably knew that which made him in a way unthreatening. Getsy tho will occasionally have these chimp on a typewriter moments that actually make him look really creative and thats the problem cos its what keeps bad hires in a job with dumb teams.

We know all this not by looking at the improbably clever plays, but by looking at the ones like the Kmet play. The plays that are so fucking dumb and misguided that they shouldn't even be in the building, let alone in the room, let alone on the table. And Getsy's playbook is full of them.

    - Did they line up under C and call even one PA deep shot in that game? With DBs crushing everything at the line to gain where were the double moves? A fucking slant??? We could say this shit every week. Fucking Getsy.

    - I hope Poles was extremely pissed off in that stadium, cos that approach to the passing game does nothing for him. The only thing that matters right now is the same only thing that mattered in week 1, is Justin the guy or not? At this point who gives a F if he throws 4 picks?! Have him throw downfield often and see what happens.

    - That said, at this stage i don't know how you don't take a QB top2 in the next draft. Not that i have any earthly idea what they'll do, i dont. All i know is this is a huge decision that will alter the course of the franchise for the next decade or more potentially. Its a massive decision. I've been a Fields believer but you just can't keep turning the ball over the way he does. As i just saw blang say, the throws like the one to Moore at the end, you don't see those often enough, and the TOs one way or another you just keep seeing too often.

For the record i will always believe there was a scenario where a team drafted Fields and he went on to have a fine career. He still might somewhere. The Bears have absolutely failed him, which is what most of us here predicted would happen. But how can you risk turning down a top passer in the draft to commit to Fields. What he needs to do to convince Poles i dont think he'll be trusted enough to try by a coaching staff clearly playing to save their own skins.

    - It was written all over Fields face after that 2nd fumble, he thought he'd just lost them the game. And tbh he should've done. The Bears got lucky that O'Connell didn't commit to getting the 1 FD he needed first, and then Flores bizarrely brought no pressure on the final drive. The Vikings totally gave this game away at the end.

    - JJ showing us all exactly why he hasnt been paid yet, he has bad ball skills. After costing them the game last week against the scumbag Lions, he drops another pick6 this week. He had a good game overall, but the lack of picks is why his self-perceived value and the offers havent matched up.

    - DJ Moore is a stud.

Lots of good stuff from everyone, as always. Amazing how we can all see it, week in and week out, year after year, and nothing changes. These people get paid millions to have no clue.

This is about coaching. You look at Kenny Pickett, Jordan Love, etc., these are all guys that are average passers at best, but do their best work when they're in rhythm, can hit their first or second read confidently, and move to the next play. They changed coordinators for Pickett, and he had the best game of his career. Did he still miss some easy passes? Sure. Did he and the offense put up the best game the franchise has had in years? Also yes. What changed was the playcalling, and the ability for the QB to get the ball out on time, in rhythm, and not have to play the "smartest man in the room" offense. Jordan Love is not a great QB, but he has some games where he looks great because he's got a coordinator doing their job right. And the Bears do not, at present.

Yeah, if Poles isn't banging the table for Getsy to be fired ASAP, then he needs to go. They need to know what this roster can do, and Getsy isn't getting you insight on that. Granted, Getsy was also stuck with a QB that couldn't get them anywhere for several weeks, and that was Pole's fault too. So... But genuinely, Poles needs to know who is and isn't the guy on this roster, and you can't determine that with your current staff. If he's not throwing a fit to get them fired, then he needs to be fired too. And if he is throwing a fit to get them fired, but Georgie is keeping them here, then... well, that's kind of what we expect at this point, right?

On that note, how many teams lose both DC and OC in a year while the HC stays? Because the Bears are halfway there.

The Bears won and I still feel like I need a drink.

The positives: the defense came to play. If they can add the pieces they need on the DL this offseason, they might have a unit. I still have some fundamental problems with the way the roster was built, and the way the defense is run, but there's at least some of the talent you need to get things done out there, and that's a start. The kicker gets a game ball. That's nice for him. I can wear my Chicago gear around town today and maybe get some fun comments from Vikings fans.

I don't get it. Pressure was working all game long and when you need it the most you take your foot off the pedal.

Flores is a good coach but that was a bad decision.

Jordan Love is the best current example of what good coaching will get you.
