Thursday’s matchup could be Levis vs. Mitch Trubisky, as Steelers starting quarterback Kenny Pickett is dealing with a rib injury suffered in Sunday’s loss to Jacksonville. I waiting on the WW and have put in a Claim for Levis....Trevor Lawrence has the week off so I hope to pick up Will Levis. Torgo.......I picked the Falcons to win last Sunday and was shocked but Happy the Titans pulled off a Huge win. Hopefully they can ROLL now and WAX the Steelers in Pittsburgh on TNF...Gidi will be pissed.
Vikings acquire Josh Dobbs in trade with Cardinals Quarterback Josh Dobbs is on the move again. NFL Media reports that the Cardinals have agreed to trade Dobbs to the Vikings. The move comes a day after Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said he had changed his mind about Dobbs continuing as the team’s starter and that change in plan is now set in stone. The Cardinals acquired Dobbs in a trade with the Browns just before the start of the regular season and he has started every game for the 1-7 team this season. He’s gone 167-of-266 for 1,569 yards, eight touchdowns, and five interceptions while also running for three scores. Dobbs will now join rookie Jaren Hall as options to replace Kirk Cousins as the starter in Minnesota. Cousins tore his Achilles in Sunday’s win over the Packers and Dobbs gives them a more experienced choice, which may prove to be appealing for a 4-4 team that remains in the playoff hunt. It remains to be seen when Dobbs, who has also played for the Titans and Lions since the start of the 2022 season, will be ready to go for his new team. The 1-7 Cardinals don’t have those aspirations and are now set to move forward with Kyler Murray and rookie Clayton Tune at quarterback. Reports indicate Tune will start this week, but the Dobbs trade provides a new reason to check in with where the Cardinals are headed. UPDATE 1:59 p.m. ET: Adam Schefter of ESPN reports the Vikings sent a sixth-round pick to the Cardinals and that Arizona sent a seventh-rounder back with Dobbs.
Kenny Pickett says he’s “playing for sure” on Thursday Kenny Pickett has taken the mystery out of the Steelers quarterback situation heading into Thursday’s game. Pickett told reporters in his Tuesday press conference that he’ll be on the field against the Titans. “I’m playing for sure,” Pickett said, via Brooke Pryor of ESPN. Pickett noted that he did some light throwing during Tuesday’s practice. While the Steelers didn’t get on the field on Monday, Pickett was listed as a limited participant on the estimate. The quarterback noted that his ribs get irritated the most when he’s trying to create torque to throw. “Obviously, your ribs are a huge part of that,” Pickett said, via Mike DeFabo of TheAthletic.com. “So, just being smart these two days and being ready to go Thursday night.” Pickett has completed 61 percent of his passes this season for 1,330 yards with five touchdowns and four interceptions.

Taylor Heinicke will start at QB for Falcons in Week 9 Falcons head coach Arthur Smith said he would name a QB1 for Week 9 on Wednesday and now he has. Taylor Heinicke will start at quarterback for Atlanta when the team plays Minnesota on Sunday. “Just for this week, with all the variables, just kind of considering everything in the last 72 hours, what we feel is best for this week for us against Minnesota — Taylor will play this week,” Smith said in his press conference. Heinicke replaced Ridder in the second half of last week’s loss to Tennessee, but Smith said that was not for performance reasons. But, via Tori McElhaney of the team’s website, Smith noted that Ridder is cleared and will be available to play. He’ll just be the backup quarterback this week. Smith will continue to evaluate the position going forward. A third-round pick in the 2022 draft, Ridder has put together middling performances in Atlanta’s first eight games. He’s completed 65.4 percent of his passes for 1,701 yards with six touchdowns and six interceptions. He’s also rushed for 139 yards with three touchdowns and fumbled seven times, losing six. Heinicke gained plenty of starting experience with Washington over the past two seasons. Last year, he completed 62.2 percent of his throws for 1,859 yards with 12 touchdowns and six interceptions, helping the Commanders go 5-3-1 as a starter. He completed 12-of-21 passes for 175 yards with a touchdown in the second half on Sunday. The Week 9 matchup with Minnesota will feature two new starters, as Jaran Hall will replace Kirk Cousins, who is out for the season with a torn Achilles. NBC
Aidan O’Connell will replace Jimmy Garoppolo as Raiders starting QB There is some more clarity on Las Vegas’ quarterback situation in the wake of the club firing head coach Josh McDaniels and G.M. Dave Ziegler. According to reports from NFL Media, Aidan O’Connell will take over as the Raiders starter this week and going forward. Vinny Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal previously reported the organization was leaning toward starting O’Connell against the Giants. A rookie fourth-round pick out of Purdue, O’Connell started the team’s Week 4 road loss to the Chargers. He finished the contest 24-of-39 for 238 yards with an interception and three fumbles. He also rushed for a touchdown. With Jimmy Garoppolo unavailable in Week 7 due to a back injury, McDaniels elected to start Brian Hoyer over O’Connell for the matchup with the Bears. But after Hoyer threw two interceptions, McDaniels turned to O’Connell for mop-up duty. O’Connell finished that game 10-of-13 for 75 yards with a touchdown and an interception. After signing a three-year deal with the Raiders in the offseason, Garoppolo did not perform well in his six starts. He failed to reach 200 yards in three of the games, including Monday’s 26-14 loss to Detroit. Garoppolo was 10-of-21 for 126 yards with an interception in that contest. He was also sacked six times. Garoppolo has completed 65.5 percent of his throws for 1,205 yards with seven touchdowns and a league-leading nine interceptions in 2023. NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport noted a Raiders source said Las Vegas is making the permanent switch to O’Connell because “He’s our best QB.” O’Connell will start the second game of his career on Sunday against the Giants. Jimmy G has been benched, ridding the pine. Makes sense to me. No way after what we've seen should Jimmy be allowed on a football field. Its a no-brainer, if you have more INT's than TD's something is wrong, especially with Adams and Myers, Renfrow... these guys arnt no slouch, someone has to get the ball to them. Running game sucks even with last years running leader, offensive line, defense blows except for maybe line-backers, but this team is in shambles.
If a defensive coordinator believes the QB can't beat him even an average defense can have success. It no longer becomes a 7-on-7 game.
but this team is in shambles. You got it Pontiac.......well said Will McDaniels and Ziegler are Fired.....so this could really Shack Vegas up ??? O'Connell who has Irish in him could do well and Fight for the Raiders...... .....he has good numbers from College when he was a Boilermaker.
What a great job for a head coach. That facility looks amazing. Decent roster. Just need a QB (maybe?).
I heard a talking head say there will (probably) be six rookie starting QB's this week in the NFL. That seems a little high for week 9 of the season. Has anybody else heard this?
I'm not sure what you mean here. Fields is a really tough evaluation. I don't like his throwing motion. Think he winds up too much. Allows NFL DBs to get that 1/2 second they need. But he's had a few games that made me think he can overcome that. I'm rooting for him.
