He’s going to be hard to replace who can they get don't want some bum ass past his prime QB here I rather go with Jaren Hall to see what you got and see if your lucky enough to draft a QB or if your lucky get a franchise QB

Kevin O’Connell: Vikings are still working through options at quarterback

The Vikings know that Kirk Cousins won’t be playing quarterback for them again this season. They currently don’t know who will be.

Coach Kevin O’Connell met with reporters on Monday, and it was clear from his answers that the path forward remains very unclear.

On multiple occasions, O’Connell said that the Vikings are still working through their plan at quarterback, given that Cousins has suffered a torn Achilles tendon.

He said that he received positive feedback from offensive players regarding the manner in which fifth-round rookie Jaren Hall handled himself after replacing Cousins on Sunday, from calling plays in the huddle, to getting the offense lined up, to getting the snap. O’Connell still has not committed to Hall for Week 9 at the Falcons.

O’Connell also mentioned that Nick Mullens is eligible to return from injured reserve after the next game.

The Vikings seem to be brainstorming all options, and casting a wide net. O’Connell said the final decision could be a short-term arrangement, it could be a long-term situation, and it could be an “upgrade” over their otherwise available possibilities.

He definitely has no shortage of choices. “You wouldn’t believe some of the things I’ve received on my cell phone” O’Connell said of the communications since Cousins was injured. (Insert Brett Favre joke here.)

Whatever they do, the clock is ticking. In more ways than one. The trade deadline arrives tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. ET. And the Vikings face the Falcons in six days.

Its really an emergency situation. Mullens is on IR and cant come back for 2 weeks yet, so basically Hall is the only QB active at the moment. Whether they start Hall and bring in a backup or go full out on a trade for a starter remains to be seen, but they got no time to poke around. Tough sledding for KOC and Kwesi.

I rather go with the what you already have and see if you can get a franchise QB in the draft not to excited about trading away players and draft picks,it's a lose lose situation for the Vikings this is a real mess Purple and Gold forever GO VIKINGS

Quarterback Josh Dobbs is on the move again.

NFL Media reports that the Cardinals have agreed to trade Dobbs to the Vikings. The move comes a day after Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said he had changed his mind about Dobbs continuing as the team’s starter and that change in plan is now set in stone.

The Cardinals acquired Dobbs in a trade with the Browns just before the start of the regular season and he has started every game for the 1-7 team this season. He’s gone 167-of-266 for 1,569 yards, eight touchdowns, and five interceptions while also running for three scores.

Dobbs will now join rookie Jaren Hall as options to replace Kirk Cousins as the starter in Minnesota. Cousins tore his Achilles in Sunday’s win over the Packers and Dobbs gives them a more experienced choice, which may prove to be appealing for a 4-4 team that remains in the playoff hunt. It remains to be seen when Dobbs, who has also played for the Titans and Lions since the start of the 2022 season, will be ready to go for his new team.

The 1-7 Cardinals don’t have those aspirations and are now set to move forward with Kyler Murray and rookie Clayton Tune at quarterback. Reports indicate Tune will start this week, but the Dobbs trade provides a new reason to check in with where the Cardinals are headed.

UPDATE 1:59 p.m. ET: Adam Schefter of ESPN reports the Vikings sent a sixth-round pick to the Cardinals and that Arizona sent a seventh-rounder back with Dobbs.

Dobbs has to be considered a short term solution to the huge problem, which will leave the door open for Cousins to return next season if he and the Vikings so desire. If Dobbs can learn quick and get the offense down, this might be exciting.

Dobbs is likely the best fix they could've gotten without pony-ing up for a mid-tier starter. Is Dobbs a longterm solution, or even an average starter? No. But he's got starting experience, will have more talent around him than he's ever had, and doesn't cost the Vikes a ton to bring in. Feels like this is a safe move that gives them a chance without giving up and also without compromising future years.

And being on his 3rd or 4th team in the past 2 or 3 years might mean he's either a quick learner or at least used to learning an offense on the fly.

Yeah I agree Dobbs he's a nice stop gap QB for the Vikings as a fan its pure chaos, got my fingers crossed they can find a franchise QB in the draft as good as Capt Kirk has been it's time to move on and get a QB to take them to the next level

I will say this - Dobbs is no Kirk Cousins. I'm curious to see how this offensive staff plans to change things to fit Dobbs' game, since it is definitely not Cousins' game.
