Watching some NC2A football this afternoon and someone caught my eye, someone I knew nothing about as I don't get around much in the college ranks, but Senior QB Jayden Daniels, LSU has incredible sats. 163 CMP, 223 ATT, 73.1 PCT, 2573 YDS, 321.6YDS/G, 25 TD's, 3 INT's, 204.3 RATE... Unbelievable!
He’s a very intriguing player Will. Transferred two seasons ago from Arizona St. Had some great games there. Playing better competition overall at LSU he’s continued to put up some impressive performances. Seemingly all the pundits have crowned Caleb Williams and Drake Maye for this upcoming drafts elite names. But Daniels is in that pile of 4-6 guys behind them trying to make an argument as a top-60 selection. It will be a very interesting draft again this year. Plenty for us to argue about
I brag this guy up and then this last night... This was his line before injury... Daniels was placed in concussion protocol and remained in the injury tent for the final 11 minutes of the game.
I got Maye slightly ahead of Caleb Williams, but I got Penix at QB3, McCarthy and Nix play on really good teams and like so many Alabama QB's that just didn't transition well, is it their system and the talent around them or their talent on it's own merit. I kinda was put off by Williams melt down after the Oregon game, crying with this mom ??
This is the Updated 2024 Draft Order... 1. Chicago Bears (from CAR) 2. New York Giants 3. New England Patriots 4. Arizona Cardinals 5. Chicago Bears 6. Green Bay Packers 7. Los Angeles Rams 8. Tennessee Titans 9. Atlanta Falcons 10. Washington Commanders 11. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 12. New York Jets 13. Denver Broncos 14. Los Angeles Chargers 15. Indianapolis Colts 16. Las Vegas Raiders 17. Buffalo Bills 18. Cincinnati Bengals 19. New Orleans Saints 20. Arizona Cardinals (from HOU) 21. Minnesota Vikings 22. Dallas Cowboys 23. Pittsburgh Steelers 24. Houston Texans (from CLE) 25. Miami Dolphins 26. Seattle Seahawks 27. Jacksonville Jaguars 28. San Francisco 49ers 29. Baltimore Ravens 30. Detroit Lions 31. Kansas City Chiefs 32. Philadelphia Eagles
Theory : Chicago will trade back out of 1 or 5. They have no Picks between 5 and 69 they need to fill That gap. Do they move on from Fields ? Deep WR and OT class you can trade back and still Get quality starters. They also have no 6th or 7th rounders , who has the capital to make a move ? I say it’s Arizona with the most capital who can fill the voids. Are they happy with Murray , small dude oft injured . They probably won’t get Maye or Williams at 4 .
So chicago trades back from 1 to 4 keeps 5 also gets 20 66 and 168. That’s a big IF. They wait on a QB . Penix might be there at 20 and they could land Fashanu to Pair up with Wright @ 4 and grab best WR on the board @5.
Florida State star quarterback Jordan Travis was carted off the field after suffering a serious leg injury during the first half of the Seminoles' matchup with North Alabama on Saturday. He left the stadium in an ambulance, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. Travis completed two of four passes for 21 yards before sustaining the injury on a 16-yard run. The 23-year-old had put together one of the best seasons in college football entering the game, with many viewing him as a Heisman Trophy candidate. In 10 starts during the 2023 season, Travis completed just over 64 percent of his passes for 2,735 yards while throwing 20 touchdowns compared to only two interceptions. He added another seven scores on the ground. He's the only ACC player to record at least 20 passing touchdowns while throwing no more than two interceptions. The Seminoles' entered the game ranked as the No. 4 program in the country with a clear path toward College Football Playoff contention. However, the team's hopes of a national championship appear slim without their exceptional signal-caller under center. Florida State has not yet released an official statement regarding Travis' injury. ______ ________________ Some folks are claiming its probably a broken leg.
Chicago's screwing themselves, lol. They could've had Marvin Harrison Jr AND a top lineman, they are probably going to have to pass on Harrison Jr for the top LT in the draft, then settle for another position with their own pick. If it were me, I would still go with Harrison Jr simply because I think he is the best player in the draft, then hope that one of the top 3 linemen drop to me with QBs being over drafted. But, that's just me.
The Bears won’t draft a LT with their first pick. Braxton Jones isn’t a world beater but he’s been good enough that LT probably isn’t up for discussion this offseason. Unless they wants to move Jones inside to guard and that doesn’t seem feasible. The Bears offensive line issues begin at center and work their way out and they can use later picks to address that.
I think this is right, from what the Bears are thinking. Personally, I would still replace Braxton Jones - such an important position deserves a better player - but at under $4 million for the next two (I think) years, I can understand why they'd leave him there. At Center, they need a veteran and not a rookie, unfortunately. Last year would've been the year to draft a center, but here we are. Get someone who can make the calls the position requires, unless you feel that either guard can do that instead, which I wouldn't assume at this point. I'm just not sure there's going to be anything worth getting in free agency this year. If the Bears are drafting at #10, as they currently sit, I would expect them to draft an interior DL, presuming they keep Eberflus / same defensive system. They could go TE / WR if they want to overdraft someone, but I think need and value will both be there at interior DL.
I think they could have a choice of either that wouldn't be overdrafting. Depending on who you ask, TE Brock Bowers and WRs Malik Nabers and Rome Adunze are all top ten prospects and wouldn't be considered a reach at #10. I think the QBs and a couple of OL will push these guys down the board to make them available. If Jer'Zhan Newton is there, I think he is going to be a beast at the next level... If he isn't then you would be over drafting for position here as well. What is the windy city's thoughts on #1 overall, does it seem like they are sticking with Justin Fields? If they are and you aren't sold on Marvin Harrison Jr... then you could probably set your franchise up with a couple of trade downs. All in all, if they came away with Harrison Jr. and Newton, I think that would be a huge day.
If I’m the Bears I would draft Harrison Jr. @ number one and pick Brock Bowrers @ ten. That would give Fields two high quality weapons.
I think when I say "overdraft", I mean, "don't draft a WR or TE with a top 10 pick". The Bears have a ton of needs on both lines, and could potentially take a QB. Trenches and QB justify a top 10 pick - until those problems are solved, spending top draft capital on a WR or TE isn't going to solve anything. So, as much as everyone may be over the moon about Marvin Harrison Jr, I don't want him here if it means that the OL, DL, and QB positions don't get improved. Those are the priorities.
Looking at about 32+ different NFL Mocks, 25 picked the Bears to take Caleb Williams at #1, 5 or 6 went Harrison JR... a few, very few had the Bears trading down. Maybe Fields goes on the block for even more draft capitol or trade potentials, or something even crazier like the Bears #10 and Fields together in a way to move 10 up higher (im making shit up as I type)... any way you slice or dice it, the Bears or any top 5 pickers are going to have some real good pickage to consider. QB Maye is highly touted also and will make this top 5 picks real interesting. Olumuyiwa Fashanu and Joe Alt at OT, are early off the board types also. This will be a very fun Draft and is beyond critical for teams like the Bears and Cardinals and Commanders.
I like this way of thinking. Makes sense and in my humble uneducated opinion, those are the areas that need to be the priority targets for Chicago.
I get it.. my only thought was with two top ten picks, you have the luxury of getting him AND improving the line on either side of the field. I would think O-line here, but I get it, you know your team a helluva lot better than I do. Harrison looks like a generational talent, it's hard to pass on that as it doesn't come around very often. I think Fields has the talent to get him the ball, with a player like him added to DJ and Kmet, Fields could put up Tua numbers. Protecting Fields so he stays healthy would be my main priority, but none of the OT get me excited to take at #1. Though the top two probably don't fall to #10 either. I don't know how true, but I just saw this: DJ Moore lets Bears front office know he wants Justin Fields back
