Some quick thoughts - The Raiders should fire McDaniel and Zeigler tomorrow morning, and start the search for a new HC/GM combo before anyone else in the league can start getting a real butcher's. Every Bears win takes them farther away from reality. They need to clean house from the front office through the entire coaching staff and start anew. The subtle quieting of the Baker bandwagon is upon us... Desmond Ridder is going to be in the NFL a long time, but this is his last year as a starting passer (unless the man in front of him goes down). If the Browns had competent quarterback play, the AFC North power for 2023 would shift to the shores of Erie. Minshew deserves a shot to be the man from the start of a season, and he might make a great bridge solution for the Falcons in 2024. I know Mac Jones takes a lot of shit, but when the coaching staff gets the offense on script, days like today should be more common for NE. The Bills offense will not be the same without Daboll, and it's a big enough drop off to keep them from getting to an AFC Championship and moves them behind the Dolphins in the AFC East for the long term. When the Ravens decide to impose their will, you get games like today where even red hot teams with a lot of momentum get their teeth knocked in. The Lions are still a top 3 team in the NFC. This game looks bad and the pundits will go hard in on it, but a road loss to a dynamic team was coming at some point. Tyrod Taylor just solidified the fact that Daniel Jones' contract is one of the worst blunders we have witnessed a franchise make with cash at passer. Sam Howell is just not good enough to be the answer in Washington. The only opinion I'll roll out on the games currently playing - Diontae Johnson and Najee Harris should be talking to their agents following this game on what kind of options they have for forcing their way out of Pittsburgh in 2024. Their careers are going to die on the vine from absolute ineptitude from the head coach, offensive coordinator, GM and ownership.
Just got back in the house and read this... very, very interesting. Ill comment on some of it when I get a moment to think of something intelligent... might be a while.
I wouldn't want to be the first team to bring him in after his second firing from the top spot. Let someone else try to tap into the magic that may no longer be up the rabbit's ass under his hat.
I think hes the new norv turner good oc horrible head coach. Same can be said of wade phillips was great DC horrible head.
Been my thought for a while now. Just too many ill comments from players and the lack of coaching is obvious. Devante Adams is the latest example. Ziegler on the other hand has created a sub-par QB room led by Jimmy G, there is problems all over the offensive line and the defensive line... hard to win a game if you dont have the trenches addressed. Just too much smoke in Vegas, so the fire (pun intended) is ominous. And the opposite just might happen because of a couple wins, I wouldnt be surprised given their track record lately. Its really the achilles heel at the current time. Funny thing is, I like what PJ is doing better than anything else the Browns can run out there. When Watson, who allegedly was healthy was in there, im not seeing the athleticism that others have said he has. Im not glued to the after game film or anything, just seen too many blunders live in that game. Ravens still the team to beat and the Browns beat them, but over the long haul, its still a crap shoot if Lamar can stay healthy. It was impressive. They had it going on all cylinders on both sides of the ball. Im still wondering why Lamar is allowed to call his own number as often as he does, especially when his passing game was red-hot vs the Lions D. Lamar ran 9 times, while Hill ran 4... they oughta flip that around. Right on. Not much for me too say here, but im still wondering what they were thinking, or even if they were thinking at all. Daboll's head is going to explode in game, live on national TV, but Tyrod may have saved all of us the nightmare of seeing that.
I get it but anyone that knows the Bears knows there's probably absolutely no scenario that would lead to the front office being cleaned out. It's just not how the McCaskey's operate.
Yep, the odds lean extreme to your statement. Damn shame, because the Bears are in a prime situation for a quick turnaround this offseason.
Browns are 1-2 in the AFC North, only win against the Bengals… it’s why they are in 3rd instead of 1st.. Ravens game was the worst offensive performance of the season with the Rookie QB m, DTR, starting.
I had an embarrassing mind garbled moment... win against the 49ers was flip-flopped in my head. Thanks for the correction. _____ ______________ One of these days I'll learn to not rely on my mind, but other minds... Oh, never mind.
Funny how Maher gets fired after missing 3 kicks for the Rams, he was a top-notch kicker this season. If a RB or QB has a shity day, life goes on.
This is from the head Honcho's at NBC/PFT... Troy Aikman said it during the broadcast. Justin Jefferson put the necklace on him after the game. Kirk Cousins. Top 10 quarterback. It’s a far different analysis when framed as “up” or “down” versus looking at all quarterbacks and picking the best 10. Chris Simms and I took up the latter effort on Tuesday’s PFT Live, attempting to identify the top 10 quarterbacks right now. Simms suggested a consensus top eight (in no particular order): Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts, Trevor Lawrence, Justin Herbert, and Matthew Stafford. So does Cousins deserve one of the final two spots? Aaron Rodgers would likely get one if he were playing, but he’s not. Absent a clear indication that he’s coming back in 2023, he won’t be until next year at the earliest. Tua Tagovailoa, in my view, deserves one of those spots, even if other quarterbacks (like, say, Kirk Cousins) could indeed run the Mike McDaniel offense as well if not better than Tua does. If we give Tua one of the spots, that’s nine. Currently, it comes down to Cousins or Dak Prescott or Jared Goff for the last spot. Let’s drop Goff from that conversation. So it’s Cousins or it’s Dak. And currently, it’s close. This could be the tiebreaker. Dak and the Cowboys were overwhelmed by the 49ers. Cousins and the Vikings found a way to beat San Francisco. If we’re basing this on “right now,” maybe Aikman is right and Cousins gets the last spot in the current top 10. But since it’s all “right now,” it could change by next week. Especially if the Vikings follow Monday night’s upset of the 49ers with a face plant at Lambeau Field. ______ ___________________ Lets look at the current stats for Cousins... Passing Yards - 2057 #2 Completions - 193 #1 TD's - 16 #1 Rate - 101.7 #11 Completions of 40+ is 4 #7 He looks top 10 to me.
For what its worth, I did a little averaging according to Lyman's Power Rankings. An AFC vs NFC thing. I only used the Top 7 teams from each conference (teams 8-16 were all .500 or below in both conferences) and rounded off the numbers to keep it simple and through 7 weeks, obviously. TOTAL WINS AFC - 33 TOTAL WINS NFC - 31 AFC POINTS SCORED - 1199, AVG POINTS PER GAME - 24 NFC POINTS SCORED - 1077, AVG POINTS PER GAME - 21 AFC TOTAL OFFENSIVE YARDS - 2396, TOTAL OFFENSIVE YARDS PER TEAM AVG - 342 NFC TOTAL OFFENSIVE YARDS - 2429, TOTAL OFFENSIVE YARDS PER TEAM AVG - 347 AFC TOTAL DEFENSIVE YARDS ALLOWED - 2171, TOTAL DEFENSIVE YARDS ALLOWED PER TEAM, AVG - 310 NFC TOTAL DEFENSIVE YARDS ALLOWED - 2145, TOTAL DEFENSIVE YARDS ALLOWED PER TEAM, AVG - 306 Looks pretty much even... parity? Im not sure what this all means, except I have too much time on my hands? Work load was lite and no kids till tonight, so I played a little bit.
Love the stats Willie, but I do wish you would have taken it all the way out... More work for you, less work for me, lol. However, if you want sample sizes... AFC North vs. the NFC 5-1 In those games AFC North POINTS SCORED - 182, AVG POINTS PER GAME - 22.7 NFC POINTS SCORED - 119, AVG POINTS PER GAME - 14.9 AFC North TOTAL OFFENSIVE YARDS - 2590, TOTAL OFFENSIVE YARDS PER TEAM AVG - 323.8 NFC TOTAL OFFENSIVE YARDS - 2466, TOTAL OFFENSIVE YARDS PER TEAM AVG - 308.3 Bengals are 3-3 on the year, 3-0 against the NFC, 0-3 against the AFC North (edit) Bengals are 0-2 against the AFC North, their 3rd loss is to the Titans. Browns are 4-2 on the year, 1-0 against the NFC, 1-2 against the AFC North Combined they are 5-1 against teams outside the AFC North The Steelers have the lone loss to the NFC, In fact they are the lone anomaly from the North being 2-0 in the North and 2-2 outside the North.
This is a cool stat. Bengals oughta wish the played NFC teams throughout. Bengals are also confusing to me as they really have stunk the place up offensively. That 136 yards avg offensively is quite unbelievable. I suppose they will get it together, trend up and start killing it as Burrow is getting it together, but they also need to get it right defensively too. As far as the Steelers go, they are the most unpredictable team in the AFC and one of the luckiest. I cant explain how they lose in a blow-out to the Texans and then beat the Ravens... go figure. Your kidding , right? If I had attempted anything like that, my 3.5 brain cells would have mushroom clouded out into oblivion. I tried to stay with in my capabilities.
A truly epic implosion by the Giants. Way way up there. Of the many many ways they blew it.... 1- Graham Gano is why i hate kickers. After last week's miss, he has two this week including a 35yarder that would've iced the game. Make that useless turd walk home. 2- Even after that, if #5 doesnt go offside which stopped the clock at 17secs the Jets were still in a world of trouble. 3- And even the last full play in reg before the spike.... they got that spike in with 1 sec left. Not one defender tried to slow play it. If they had, for just 1 second, Giants win. I swear, my ongoing fascination with football comes from seeing how in the hell teams find these inexplicable ways to lose games heh.
