Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson played one of the worst games in his career on Thursday night, and he took the blame afterward.

Wilson said the defense played well enough to beat the Chiefs, but the offense was held back by his own two interceptions.

“I thought our defense played great tonight. They battled all night. They came up with a pick, our defense did, and could have had two. They did a really great job keeping us in the game. Offensively, we had some really good things and then the two turnovers by me were unacceptable. That can’t happen,” Wilson said.

Wilson completed 13 of 22 passes for just 95 yards, and had four sacks in addition to the two interceptions. Overall Wilson dropped back to pass 26 times and the Broncos totaled just 82 yards, an average of 3.2 yards per dropback.

Wilson tried to put an optimistic spin on the game, noting that the Broncos kept battling when down 16-0 and made it 16-8 late in the fourth quarter. And it’s true that the Broncos’ defense played its best game of the season. But the reality is this game was never particularly competitive, largely because Wilson couldn’t get the offense going.

In case anyone wondered

The Miami Dolphins are in first place in NFL history with 20 straight wins over the Buffalo Bills from 1970-1979. The San Francisco 49ers are in second place with 17 consecutive victories over the Los Angeles Rams from 1990-1998.


The win over the Broncos in Week 6 means that the Chiefs are now tied with Washington for third place, who had 16 consecutive wins over the Detroit Lions from 1968-1997.

 

That’s got to be very embarrassing to lose to the same team twice a season for 8-10 seasons. Usually it’s because your team sucks.

 

If you're surprised the Patriots were not on the list they come in 4th with 15 wins vs the Bills and also right behind that with 14 vs the Jets.


Also just FYI Mahomes has 12 of the 16 wins vs the Broncos (including his very first start) and Alex Smith was responsible for the other 4 his is also on the books as the QB who started the time they lost to the Broncos.

L’Jarius Sneed fined for removing helmet, which officials didn’t flag

Chiefs defensive back L’Jarius Sneed removed his helmet when arguing a call with an official on Sunday against the Vikings, which ordinarily draws a penalty flag. The officials told Sneed to put his helmet back on, but didn’t flag him. Now the NFL has fined him.

The league announced today that Sneed was fined $13,659 for unsportsmanlike conduct.

It’s another in a long list of examples of the NFL’s on-field officials and the league’s disciplinary process not being on the same page. If Sneed’s actions were unsportsmanlike enough to warrant a fine, then the officials also should have flagged him.

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell was clearly not happy that Sneed wasn’t flagged for taking off his helmet — or that the officials picked up the penalty flag they initially threw on Sneed for pass interference, which is what caused Sneed to argue. The NFL fine suggests that O’Connell was right to be upset — Sneed should have been penalized.

After missing the last three games, Giants running back Saquon Barkley appears ready to give it a go tonight.

Barkley is optimistic he’ll play tonight against the Bills, according to multiple reports.

The Giants officially listed Barkley as questionable with an ankle injury. Barkley suffered a high ankle sprain in Week Two against the Cardinals and hasn’t played since.

At 1-4 on the season, the Giants have been one of the league’s most disappointing teams. They’re desperate to get their season turned around in a hurry, and with starting quarterback Daniel Jones out tonight, they’d love to see Barkley return and have a big game.

The Bills are 15-point favorites over the Giants tonight.

 

Saw it on TT amazed at the people trying to justify it as a legal hit. One guy tired the they grow hitting like that and the nfl expects them to change. Not sure where he has been (coma maybe) but head to head like that has been a no-no for a long time and not just in the NFL its in college and HS too.

Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton wasn’t on the field for the final stages of Sunday’s 24-16 win over the Titans in London.

Hamilton was ejected from the game in the third quarter after a helmet-to-helmet hit on Titans wide receiver Chris Moore, who was taken to the locker room for an evaluation after showing signs of a head injury when he got to his feet. After the game, Hamilton said he “wasn’t trying to do anything bad” on the play and was just trying to knock the ball out of Moore’s grasp.

“Heat of the moment. I wish I could take it back right now. I wasn’t trying to hurt anybody’s feelings or anything,” Hamilton said, via the team’s website. “I don’t have really any quarrels with the call itself, but obviously, I just don’t want to be ejected. But, at the end of the day, the story is not about me. We came out here and got a win. Everybody was locked in [and] focused. Shoutout Geno [Stone]. He got another pick. It just goes to show how deep we are as a team.”
