Hope I’m wrong and they look as good as they did a week ago, but this seems like a letdown waiting to happen. Long extended week off after an impressive win on a Thursday, the secondary is back/healthy (I’m excited to see Gordon back), and the OL/DL mostly handled their business last week, short of LT and C. Gervon Dexter had a great game against DC and you want to see him build on again, except the ‘b’ gap will be seeing a lot of Christian Darrisaw, who’s one of the best young LT right now. Furthermore, Minny is down Justin Jefferson and has looked unimpressive all year. But I think Getsy is gonna get pantsed/out schemed by Flores. Kirk Cousins isn’t playing in prime time, so him dropping a 400 yard passing day of the DL should they regress is highly likely and even though Jefferson is out, O’Connell is smart enough to put his 1st round WR in the soft zone spots against Der Flus’ signature ‘cover who’ looks. I think Jordan Addison is primed to have an excellent day, and mixed with the fact Der Flus is stubborn enough to treat him like he has multiple talented WRs, or even shades of what Lovie did with Steve Smith in the comically bad playoff loss in 05/06, I can see an ugly loss easy today.
The Oline trending up is what has me a little optimistic. Wright has been better than expected for a rookie tackle. Jenkins was a beast last Thursday and Nate Davis is rounding into form. This line is a center and LT away from being legit. I think we see a bigger game out of Mooney when the Vikings gameplan to contain Moore. Defense needs turnovers. This is a winnable game. Which I can only assume means they will make me wanna break my TV when they find a dumb way to lose.
I watched the first half of ND vs USC last night, 3 Caleb Williams INTs. Are we sure he's #1 pick? What I saw was a very athletic and gifted QB seem completely flustered and taken out of his game by a competent D. As for today, the Vikings come in with no momentum and missing their best player. Bears offense is trending in the right direction. Can we finally have a good showing against a divisional rival? It's been 2 years since we won a game in the division, 3 years since we beat the Vikings. This seems like the perfect week to do it, and yet I expect we'll find some innovatively retarded way to lose.
I like my neighbors. Decent folk, kid gets along with my kid, etc. ... I want them to be unhappy today. Kick some Viking ass, please.
ALso why is Darynton Evans getting the first carry of the game when you only signed him like a day ago and have Johnson and the other dude, both of whom are way better.
Johnson is out with a concussion, so it’s just Foreman, evans and the fullback. Evans was on the bears a year ago and looked good late season when everybody else was beat up.
Deonta Foreman was pretty good on Carolina last year and has hardly gotten a chance since we signed him.
