Beach I’ll disagree a bit. He made some clutch throws in the 4th not just the 41.yard TD , the whole game winning drive was pretty good IMHO

Should have had a TD after the safety. Poor decision making. Poor throws. He's staring down just about every throw. Almost never makes the right decision. With clean pockets.

    4th quarter - 2nd and goal - trailing 10-5

Stares down Pickens on the fade route. 1st read, only read. Low percentage throw (that should have been PI but nevertheless)

Much easier throw. You have your massive TE against a safety. Never looks his way.

    3rd and goal

Has two options here. Never looks at Austin. Stares down his target once again but can't complain about the decision. Good read. Receiver is open.

    Pickett 2.jpg

Just throws a 100mph fast ball over his head.

    Pickett 2a.jpg

    Pickett 2b.jpg

This isn't Canada. This is Pickett. He has multiple guys open. Not difficult throws.

Even the TD drive. Quite frankly we were pretty lucky. He rarely finds the open guy.

1st and 10. Down 10-8. Need to (1) run clock, (2) get in FG territory. Where would you throw this ball? Pickett 3.jpg

Never looks anywhere but his 1st read and he's gonna fire it in there no matter what the coverage WITH A CLEAN POCKET.

After a 6 dump off to Warren it's 3rd and 4. I'm sure some will say how do you complain about this play? It's the back-shoulder down the sideline to Pickens that sets up the 40 yard TD pass. Why bring it up? Because it's the wrong decision. It's a critical down. They need to move the chains and they hadn't completed a back-shoulder throw all day. He and Pickens were never on the same page. It's a low percentage throw on a play that you only need 4 yards and ONCE AGAIN never looks anywhere else. Stares Pickens down, throws into good coverage. Pickens makes a great play.

    Pickett 3b.jpg

Reminds me of Ben. Take the chain mover. Run clock. It's an easy pitch and catch.

Anyway... Not trying to beat him up. He made a nice throw on the TD. But I don't believe he played well in the 4th quarter. I think Pickens made a couple plays for him. He still stared down receivers. He still didn't find the open guy. He still missed important throws. Defense and special teams were the difference in this game - well that and the Ravens WRs inability to catch.

Well, if it's any consolation, I've abandoned the Pickett bandwagon long ago.

I see your point. Needs coaching & pocket awareness. Is he fixable that’s the $ 64,000 question . It I still root for him he’s what we got . Thinking with 77 starting and 18 back it’ll help. Wish they’d start 24 over 29 as well especially with Kupp and Pacua running in the secondary

Also I called him jelly bean hands pre draft. The pre-season gave me hope, false hope. But it could be worse he’s not tying up a quarter of a billion dollars like Jackson and Watson. Burrow me thinks he’s worth the big contract if he stays healthy

Dawson started his rookie season at guard and if your going all time for the. He is probably one of their top 5 linemen of all time and would make a reasonable choice as the other guard making Fanaca, Webster, Dawson one of the most feared group of interior linemen I the game. They wouldn't need a tush push to get the QB a yard.

Definitely rooting for him. Disappointed we're not seeing the growth from the neck up in year two and I don't think his physical skills were ever top tier. He has to be able to beat teams post-snap or he has no future in the NFL.

Dermontti Dawson played 1 season at Right Guard (because Webster was the Center) and 12 seasons at Center after Webster retired. Dawson is a Center.

Now, if you're telling me that Dawson is better than Webster, then that's a different story.

Im telling you Dawson would have been a HOFer if he had spent his entire career at guard.

He was a HOFer at Center. So, the question remains - was he better than Webster?
