I don’t know if we as fans need this bye week now or not. Heyward probably isn’t going to be ready to come back yet. But I am thinking TJ Watt is definitely putting himself in very exclusive company. I think he’s in the top five altime Steelers defensive players.

Tough to argue, but even though Lambert got most of the accolades, Jack Ham was every bit deserving to be on this list. He had games in the playoffs that were mind boggling. One particular game was the slush bowl, against the Oilers which they won 34-5, check out the box score. That might have been the game Rocky Bleier was shivering on the sideline and sent to the locker room. Basically Ham was a man possessed.

I watched that game. We scored like 21 points in about two minutes. Usually if you have 8 turnovers in a game you lose except when the opponent has even more.

I would put Ham in a tie with Lambert, they were both so good.

I’m also tired of hearing how great the cowboys are, they got handed their asses on a platter and looked worse than the Steelers did against the 49ers which is hard to believe.

Funny you should bring this up. One of the chapters in the book I'm working on will deal with the players that made up the NFL. The method I've chosen to attack this is to put together "All-Time Franchise Teams" for the 32 surviving NFL teams. This is a screen shot of what I have for the Steelers as of today. I welcome any input from actual Steeler fans.

Most of the Steelers tried to make light of the weather. "Hey, this was a championship game," said Pittsburgh Defensive End L. C. Greenwood. "I'd have played it in the ocean if I'd had to, and I can't even swim."

    lol

Definitely a mans game back then.

Good list Lyman. I have to figure out how to squeeze in Dermonti Dawson, Donnie Shell and Lynn Swann on the list without taking anybody else off

I would love to see any other teams best offense from all their stars and try to score on that defense.

Lou "The Toe" Groza makes me think of Chester Marchol who used to kick for the Packers and who I had the pleasure of working with at a rehab center. He got into kicking because of Lou

All I know is - Otto Graham might be the most underrated athlete in the history of pro sports.

That would be a great offense, but the Steelers all time defense would be the best ever.

The potential is there for this team IF they get just competent QB play. The defense showed what it is capable of when the offense doesn't go 3-and-out multiple times a quarter. The o-line is good enough when they aren't facing 8 and 9 in the box. They have playmakers.

They just need a QB that can understand what the defense is doing pre-snap, anticipate the throwing lanes and deliver the ball ON TIME. The opportunities are there. He has time.

You mean the way Pickett played in the fourth quarter?

No. He played poorly in the 4th quarter as well but hung in there and made one big throw to Pickens.
