idk, the receiver was 5-10 yards behind the defender. Looked to me like just a piss-poor throw.

He tried to throw it on the run, off platform and didn't have the arm strength to get it there.

It's a bad decision to attempt that pass.

  3. Campbell Administrator Manager Commissioner

Sanders gets broken protection in the front, moves to the right and completes the pass for a touchdown on the move.

It's almost like they should have been working to get him on the roll that direction earlier...

Lotta football to be played but all this will cone out and the Bears won't take any chances. The one thing they have is deep pockets. They'll make it a package deal. Williams playing for Riley.

If I had faith that the Bears' brass would hire anything other than a recycled defensive coach, I might agree.

It's an even tougher sell to me that they go to the college ranks to get their next coach.

I can get my head wrapped around the Vegas potential in 2025 much easier, with a coach like Kafka, Moore, Slowik or Waldron.

Joel Klatt is one of the better color guys on game day.

Aidan O’Connell will be the starting quarterback for the Raiders today against the Chargers.

With Jimmy Garoppolo ruled out because of a concussion, Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels has decided O’Connell will start instead of backup Brian Hoyer, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Hoyer has been listed ahead of O’Connell on the Raiders’ depth chart, but it’s not surprising that McDaniels has decided to see what O’Connell can do. The Raiders need a spark after a disappointing start to the season, and O’Connell could provide it.

A 25-year-old rookie who started 28 games during six years at Purdue, O’Connell arrived in Las Vegas as a fourth-round draft pick and impressed in the preseason. Now he’ll get to show what he can do against a struggling Chargers defense.

Garoppolo will presumably start again once he’s cleared from the concussion protocol, but McDaniels would love to see O’Connell play well enough to make that a difficult decision.

Deshaun Watson out, Dorian Thompson-Robinson will start for Browns

Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson will miss today’s game with a right shoulder injury.

Watson took part in pregame warmups, threw a few short passes, consulted with team medical staffers and coaches, and walked off the field. Shortly after, multiple reports said Watson will be inactive today.

With Watson out, rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson will get the first start of his NFL career. Thompson-Robinson, a fifth-round draft pick, impressed in the preseason, and now he’ll get a chance to show what he can do in a very big AFC North battle against the Ravens.

Watson has been a major disappointment since the Browns traded for him and gave him the most guaranteed money for any player in NFL history. In addition to his 11-game for sexually assaulting massage therapists, he has played poorly both last year and this year. And now he’s out with an injury, and the Browns will hope their offense can rally around Thompson-Robinson.

Derek Carr to start for Saints on Sunday

Quarterback Derek Carr’s status for Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers was uncertain all week, but there’s some clarity hours before kickoff in New Orleans.

According to multiple reports, Carr will start for the Saints. Carr suffered an injury to the AC joint in his right shoulder in last Sunday’s loss to the Packers and missed two days of practice before returning on Friday.

The Saints were up 17-0 in Green Bay when Carr was knocked out last weekend, but wound up losing 18-17 so getting their starter back would seem to be a good sign for their chances of getting to 3-1 on the season.

Jameis Winston would have gotten the start against his former team if Carr was ruled out, but he’ll now resume his role as the backup for New Orleans.

At the two minute warning in Houston, Kenny Pickett is 7/12 for 22 with a pick and no TDs.

The Steelers are going nowhere with Pickett at quarterback.

Some writers attacking Canada per usual this morning. 4th n 1 in Houston territory, with a QB who sneaks well, Canada is getting heat for calling a shot-gun formation with 4 WO's... and also bringing up the fact the Steelers O-line is not very good, so that led to Pickett getting injured. Its all Monday Morning after the fact stuff, but at first glance it kinda makes sense.

Im not defending Pickett per say, just think there are problems with a lot of other areas also. Scoring only 62 or 63 points in 4 games isnt going to get it done.

Wish the best for Steelers Nation... Im interested in seeing how reactive and proactive they will be to try and counter this start. 2-2 isnt the end of all things, but the direction they are headed is gloomy.

Ive said elsewhere here on the site, that im really surprised its gone this poorly. I had higher expectations for them headed into this thing.

This a head scratcher for me and indicative of what I see is the problem with Matt Canada. I'll never be an OC, but i think there's a feel to play calling. It's not just the play, but when you call it. The OC should have an instinct about things and Canada doesn't. I would've loved to see Eric Bieniemy as OC for the Steelers. I really like what he's done in Washington so far, although their two wind are vs bad teams.
