Apparently he was attempting to start a fire in a backyard fire pit.

    No, not at all.

And if what I posted yesterday would be the case, then I would be in agreement with that decision - NFL - Random Opinions | Page 185 | Forums (live4sportnetwork.com)

Been carrying on a conversation about the Bears...

The simple take is - With Flus at the helm, this team is fucked.

There is enough talent to be competitive (not enough to be a division topper), but the Bears look far from it on game day.

Can it get worse? Depends on the direction this thing is headed, but the unfortunate answer is - yes

My fear with Nagy, at what had become the obvious end of his tenure, would be that he would draft a young quarterback as an insurance policy to keep his job.

He selected Justin Fields, and then was summarily shit canned at the end of the season.

Now, the same player Nagy drafted to save his career could very well be scapegoated by Eberflus to save his job, end up traded to another team, while Flus and Co. draft Caleb Williams in an effort to save their jobs.

Same story, different coaches, and likely the same outcome if the outgoing (bound to be by the end of 2024) Eberflus is replaced by another defensive minded coach that cannot develop a young passer.

Maybe Caleb can overcome the circumstances he will be damned into, but the other side of the coin would be Fields going to a team that can get the best out of him and he becomes a franchise player in another uniform.

Doom and gloom, I know... But this seems more like an odds-on kind of thing than any other scenario, at the moment.

I suppose its possible, Caleb goes back to school and doesnt enter the Draft? I think his dad was talking about this a month back or so.

Solid way to avoid a situation if he doesn't like how the landscape looks at #1.

With the money he can earn in college, it won't kill him to wait it out.

Williams throws such a beautiful ball the WR's dont drop anything either.

As I type this, I see I may have jinxed him.

All the kid does is look cool and throw darts.

Good mechanics, good decision-making, high-level athleticism, nice touch, good anticipation...

The guy is a safer prospect than Trevor Lawrence, and I thought we wouldn't see another one of those for a while.

I think it just delays the situation - doesn't avoid it.

Thats a very viable outcome also, but waiting it out a year may give him better coaches by the time he goes Draft. I cant see the Bears waiting to do something at the coaches positions... you never know tho.

A lot can change in one season, and I could see a scenario where a team that is more favorable than Chicago ends up with that top pick.

Vegas, Tennessee, Washington and Tampa could throw their hats in the ring.

I would think Vegas with a new head coach in 2025 might be a tempting spot.

Speaking of the Raiders and a bit off-topic at the moment, the coaches there are losing, if not lost a lot those players, IMO. I dont think a lot of them are playing for the team, but just going through the motions.

I think I'm gonna turn into a Matt Ruhle fan in about 18 minutes.

I don't have an argument against the opinion...

But McDaniels was never the right hire.

Vegas should fire him mid-season and begin their coaching search. It's actually a decent landing spot, because you have a bridge passer signed through 2026 and will have the ability to identify your choice of arm in the draft, and the ability to rebuild the roster with a semblance of stability.

Williams makes it look so easy. If he goes back to school next year, he'll be working on his 3rd Heisman Trophy, lol.
