  1. Jeanquev Legend Steelers

Steelers should be shopping them Rudolph or Mitch. Heck they can shop Pickett in my opinion too. Rudolph could probably play game manager which is what they need. If the Jets are kicking tires they might as well try Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco

I could see Flacco, but I believe, iirc, Ryan has already said no.

Even if Matty D hasn’t officially retired, his arm said “fuck it” and moved to Boca Raton.

The Colts have a chance to get their top draft pick back against the Rams this week.

Head coach Shane Steichen told reporters in his Wednesday press conference that quarterback Anthony Richardson will return to practice this week. Though Richardson remains in the concussion protocol, he’ll take starter reps, which is a good sign for his potential availability.

Richardson suffered his concussion during the first half of Indianapolis’ Week 2 victory over Houston. Gardner Minshew has filled in for the last two weeks, helping the Colts win both games.

In his two games, Richardson has completed 30-of-47 passes for 279 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He’s also rushed for 75 yards with three TDs.

Noodle arm that doesn’t know the system, I wouldn’t bet on it.

Joe Burrow got advice from Aaron Rodgers about dealing with injured calf

“He’s dealt with calf issues his whole career and wanted to use him as a resource and get his thoughts, what he might have done,” Burrow said, via Ben Baby of ESPN. “He’s been through it, done that. And he was great about it.”

During an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday, Rodgers discussed the difficulty of playing with a calf injury and the toughness it takes.

“For him to tough it out, I don’t think that people realize how much pain and limited mobility he was in,” Rodgers said. “But for him to gut it out . . . and to make enough plays to win, like I texted him, that’s what great competitors do. They show up and play through the pain and don’t make it a big deal.”

Burrow had the expected soreness Tuesday, but he said he felt better Wednesday.

He was estimated as a full participant after taking all the first-team snaps in the walkthrough.

“It’ll get better each week that I don’t have a setback, so getting out of Monday without a setback was big,” Burrow said. “That means it will be stronger this week. If I get through this week without having any setbacks, it’ll be stronger the next week. So, all you can do is rest it and take time. But I’m gonna continue to play, continue to practice and it’ll get stronger through the year.”

Burrow, with a smile, would not get into specifics about what advice Rodgers offerd him.

"[I’m] going to continue to use that as a resource,” Burrow said.” He’s a great guy. Whenever you have a guy like that that’s willing to help, you’re going to use it.”

I don't think that was Denny McClain. Wasn't it one of the Oakland A's pitchers?

It was Doc Ellis of the Pirates (1970), but many, many, players were on something at one point in all sports.

Jimmy Garoppolo may be available to play this week after all.

The Raiders quarterback has returned to practice on Thursday, according to multiple reporters on the scene.

Garoppolo entered concussion protocol after he was examined following Sunday night’s loss to the Steelers. He did not participate in Wednesday’s practice. But the fact that he’s progressed enough to be on the field Thursday is a positive sign for his availability to play the Chargers in Week 4.

The Raiders also have quarterbacks Brian Hoyer and Aidan O’Connell on the roster.

Garoppolo has completed 68 percent of his passes for 709 yards with five touchdowns and a league-leading six interceptions so far this year.

The Raiders’ full injury report will be released later on Thursday.

Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson again was limited in Thursday’s practice, but he did more than he did Wednesday.

Watson completely rested his throwing shoulder Wednesday.

According to reporters at Thursday’s practice, Watson threw the ball softly during the portion of practice open to the media.

The Browns still expect him to play.

“We’ll see how he feels when we get out there,” offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt said Thursday, via Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal. “We’re confident he’ll be able to go Sunday. We will see how he’s feeling today when we get out.”

Burrow, Richardson and now Bryce Young, all good to go this weekend. Watson still questionable.

Tua Tagovailoa avoiding sacks like never before with 1 sack and 101 pass attempts

Nothing matters more to the Dolphins this season than keeping Tua Tagovailoa healthy. Tagovailoa is currently the leading Most Valuable Player candidate, but the Dolphins know all too well that a concussion — or, like last year, multiple concussions — could derail his season and the team’s season.

Which makes it very good news that Tagovailoa is avoiding sacks like never before.

Through three games this season, Tagovailoa has thrown 101 passes and only been sacked once. That rate of getting sacked on 0.98 percent of his dropbacks is a huge improvement from his career average, which was a sack on 5.36 percent of his dropbacks.

It’s also a historic start to a season — with one sack on 101 passes, Tagovailoa is getting sacked at precisely the same rate as another Dolphins quarterback, Dan Marino, in 1988. That year Marino took six sacks and threw 606 passes, and that season is regarded by many as the single best season ever for any quarterback at avoiding the pass rush. Marino was acclaimed for his quick release and ability to read defenses and make them pay for blitzing him, and Tagovailoa is doing the same thing this year.

Tagovailoa took jiu-jitsu lessons during the offseason to learn how to fall properly, with the hopes that when he gets taken down, he’ll be able to avoid his helmet hitting the ground. But even better than getting taken down properly is not getting taken down at all. And through three games this season, Tagovailoa is doing a remarkable job of avoiding sacks.
